OGIRS to fight quack third party insurance firms

The Ogun State Internal Revenue Service (OGIRS) has promised continuous synergy with e-Third Party Insurance companies for efficient service and optimal productivity.

This was the position of the Executive Chairman, Ogun State Internal Revenue Service, (OGIRS), Mr. Olugbenga Olaleye during a meeting with the representatives of e-Third Party Insurance, Brokers and Underwriters at OGIRS’ Conference room, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

He said  gone  were the days where there were large percentage of quacks in the insurance industry issuing the papers without paying claims but with the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the parties for over three years, the narrative has changed positively.

He said OGIRS had created strategic systems to block all loopholes in the issuance of the documents, encouraging taxpayers to embrace the scheme and boost the confidence of  motorists whenever the unexpected happens .

Olaleye advised the companies to brainstorm and choose the new leadership that would take over as the lead insurer since they are signing another contract, adding that  the chosen leadership should also come up with new initiatives that would move the state forward.

“OGIRS has created a platform to chase away clandestine unregistered set of people under the tree issuing insurance papers, that is why government has brought the scheme that will be of benefit to taxpayers,” he said.

Director, Other Taxes, Mrs. Oluyomi Dawodu explained that it is expected of every car owner either private or commercial to obtain valid insurance documents, emphasising that OGIRS is the only agency saddled with the responsibility of issuing motor licences, Proof of Ownership Certificate (POC), among others.
