  • Cloudy weather, rains, thunderstorms to prevail today

    The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted cloudy weather conditions with chances of thunderstorms and moderate rainfall activities over some parts of the country today.

    NiMet’s Weather Outlook by its Central Forecast Office (CFO) yesterday predicted prospects of thunderstorms over the central cities like Abuja, Mambila Plateau, Bida, Lokoja, and Bauchi in the morning.

    It said scattered thunderstorms were anticipated over Yola, Taraba, Bauchi, FCT and Gombe during afternoon and evening hours with day and night temperatures of 27 to 34 and 15 to 27 degrees Celsius.

    The agency predicted that Northern States would experience partly cloudy conditions with thunderstorms over Kebbi and its environs during the morning hours.

    It also predicted likelihood of thundery activities over Potiskum, Dutse, Kano, Gusau and Maiduguri in the afternoon with day and night temperatures of 34 to 35 and 21 to 23 degrees Celsius respectively.

    According to NiMet, Southern States will experience cloudy conditions over the coastal cities with prospects of thunderstorms over Abeokuta, Ibadan, Oyo, Ekiti as well as Anambra, Enugu, Ogoja, Abakaliki and Enugu axis in the morning hours.

    “There are prospects of thunderstorms and rains in the Afternoon and evening hours over Lagos, Benin, Asaba, Yenagoa, Abakaliki and Akure with day and night temperatures of 30 to 33 and 21 to 25 degrees Celsius respectively.

    “There are stronger prospects of weather activities over the country in the afternoon and evening period,” NiMet predicted.

  • Thunderstorms, heavy rains expected today

    THE Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted monsoonal rains, expected to keep the country under wet conditions throughout the forecast period for today.

    NiMet made this known in its Weather Outlook by its Central Forecast Office in Abuja yesterday.

    It predicted a mixture of rains and thunderstorms over the northern states.

    The agency added that light  rains would be expected in the  morning hours over  Borno,  Yobe,  Jigawa with thunderstorms in Sokoto,  Kano,  Katsina,  Zamfara  and  Kebbi axis.

    According to NiMet, the evening period may experience thunderstorms with moderate and heavy (monsoon) rains in Borno, Kano, Gombe,  Jigawa  and Yobe as likely  hotspots.

    It said that day and night temperature in the northern region would be in the ranges of 27-32 degree Celsius and 20-24 degree Celsius respectively.

    The agency also envisages rains in the central states throughout the day with light rains in the morning hours.

    “The  rains will increase in intensity from moderate to heavy  rains between round 1200 and  midnight.

    “Areas around Jalingo, Yola  and Mambila Plateau may experience  some  morning thunderstorms.

    “Day and night temperature in the region is expected  to be in the  range of 25-31 degree Celsius  and 17-23 degree Celsius respectively,” NiMet predicted.

    The agency added that light  rains is expected in  the  morning hours over Lagos,  Port Harcourt, Calabar, Eket,  Enugu  and  other  southern cities with drizzle in  a few  places.

    It said that the  rains would  graduate  to  heavy  rains  over  most  parts of the southern states in  the evening hours, adding that the heavy rains expected to be all-day affair might still be light over  Lagos.

    NiMet predicted that day and night  temperature in the southern region will be in the range of 28-30 degree Celsius and 21-24 degree Celsius respectively.

    The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted cloudy skies over the central states of the country this morning with prospects of rains over Abuja, Bauchi, Gombe, Jos, Jalingo, Niger, Yola and Kaduna cities.

    NiMet’s Weather Outlook by its Central Forecast Office in Abuja yesterday also predicted day and night temperatures in the range of 27 to 33 and 17 to 24 degrees Celsius respectively.

    It added that localised thunderstorms were probable over the region in the afternoon and evening period.

    The agency predicted southern states would experience cloudy conditions over inland cities with intermittent rains over the coastal cities in the morning hours.

    It also predicted prospects of thunderstorm and rains over the region in the afternoon and evening hours with day and night temperatures in the range of 28 to 32 and 20 to 23 degrees Celsius respectively.

    According to NiMet, Northern States will experience thunderstorms with cloudy morning over Maiduguri, Nguru and Potiskum, with day and night temperatures of 30 to 36 and 20 to 25 degrees Celsius respectively.

    “Later in the day, thunderstorms are expected over Maiduguri, Nguru, and Potiskum axis, while the entire region is likely to be cloudy.

    “There are indications of increased cloudiness with prospects of intermittent rains and thunderstorms over the country within the next 24 hours,” NiMet predicted.

    It added that thunderstorms and rains were expected to affect Kaduna, Jos, Abuja, Niger, Ilorin and Kogi later in the day.

    The agency predicted that the Southern states would experience cloudy skies with chances of thunderstorms and rains over the entire region in the morning hours.

    It also predicted thunderstorms and rains over the region in the afternoon and evening period with day and night temperatures in the range of 29 to 32 and 21 to 24 degrees Celsius respectively.

    According to NiMet, Northern States will experience cloudy conditions with prospects of thunderstorms over Sokoto, Kebbi, Maiduguri, Dutse and Nguru are expected in the morning hours.

    “During the afternoon and evening period, isolated thunderstorms are expected over Katsina, Kano and Zaria with day and night temperatures in the ranges of 32 to 36 and 20 to 27 degrees Celsius respectively.”

     

  • Thunderstorms likely in Ilorin

    The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted cloudy weather conditions over the Central States of the country on Monday with chances of thunderstorms over Ilorin in the morning hours.

    NiMet’s Weather Outlook by its Central Forecast Office in Abuja on Sunday also predicted day and night temperatures in the range of 27 to 36 and 20 to 24 degrees Celsius respectively.

    It added that there were prospect of thunderstorms and moderate rains over Makurdi, Jos, Taraba, Kaduna, Adamawa and Nasarawa axis during the afternoon and evening hours.

    The agency predicted that the southern states would experience  cloudiness with prospects of thunderstorms over some places like Benin, Enugu, Osogbo, Abeokuta, Shaki, Asaba, Lagos, and Portharcourt axis in the morning hours.

    It also predicted moderate rain showers over the southwest inland and coastal cities with chances of thunderstorms over the southeast inland and coastal cities later in the day.

    NiMet further predicted the southern states would have day and night temperatures in the range of 30 to 33 and 20 to 24 degrees Celsius  through the forecast period.

    According to NiMet, Northern States will experience chances of thunderstorm over Zaria and Maiduguri axis in the afternoon and evening hours while other cities are likely to remain under cloudy conditions throughout the forecast period.

    “Northern States would also have day and night temperatures in the ranges of 33 to 43 and 20 to 26 degrees Celsius respective.

    “Prospects of thunderstorms and rain showers over some part of the country with varying intensities are likely to prevail in the next 24 hours”

    The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted partly cloudy weather conditions with isolated thunderstorms in the central states’ cities of Makurdi, Abuja, Jos, Lafia, Mambila and Yola on Tuesday morning.

    NiMet’s Weather Outlook by its Central Forecast Office (CFO) on Monday in Abuja also predicted thunderstorms over Yelwa, Jos, Abuja, Kaduna, Ilorin, Minna and Lokoja in the afternoon and evening hours.

    It added that the central states would experience day and night temperatures in the range of 28 to 32 and 17 to 23 degrees Celsius respectively.

    The agency predicted that southern states would experience chances of morning thunderstorms and rains with localised thunderstorms and in the afternoon and evening hours.

    It states that the southern states would have day and night temperatures in the range of 28 to 31 and 20 to 28 degrees Celsius respectively.

    According to NiMet, northern states will experience partly cloud-to-cloudy conditions in the morning hours with sunny to partly cloudy conditions later in the day.

    “The region will experience chances of thundery activities with rains over Jalingo, Bauchi, Gombe, Gusau and Yelwa with day and night temperatures of 31 to 35 and 20 to 24 degrees Celsius respectively.

    “We expect cloudy and partly cloudy conditions in the northern cities while thunderstorms and rain showers are likely over most places around the central cites and southern states in the next 24 hours,” NiMet said.

    NiMet predicts localised rains, thunderstorms on Sunday

    The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted localised rains over the central cities of Ilorin, Bauchi, Yola, Abuja and environs on Sunday morning.

    NiMet made this known in the daily Weather Outlook produced by its Central Forecast Office (CFO) on Saturday in Abuja.

    It added that thunderstorms were expected over the region later in the day with day and night temperatures in the range of 23 to 29 and 17 to 24 degrees Celsius respectively.

    The agency predicted that southern states would experience morning cloudy conditions over the inland of the Southeast and Southwest with high chances of rains over the coastal cities.

    It also predicted localised rains over the region later in the day with day and night temperatures in the ranges of 26 to 29 and 21 to 23 degrees Celsius respectively.

    According to NiMet, the Northern States will experience morning rains over Sokoto and Kebbi states, while cloudy conditions may prevail over the rest of the region.

    “Cloudy conditions are likely to persist into the afternoon/evening hours, with exception of Sambisa, where thunderstorms with day and night temperatures of 24 to 32 and 22 to 24 degrees Celsius respectively will occur .

    “With sufficient moisture in the atmosphere, most parts of the country are suitable for weather activities over the next 24 hours,” NiMet predicted.

    NiMet’s Weather Outlook by its Central Forecast Office (CFO) yesterday in Abuja, also predicted day and night temperatures of 27 to 34 and 19 to 26 degrees Celsius respectively.

    It added that there would be prospects of isolated thunderstorms over Bauchi, Minna, Gombe, Jos, Makurdi, Abuja and Minna during the afternoon and evening hours.

    The agency predicted that Southern States would experience morning cloudiness over the inland cities with chances of isolated thunderstorms over Obudu, Akure, Ikom, Abeokuta, Ogoja and Enugu in the afternoon and evening hours.

    It also predicted isolated morning rains over Lagos, Warri, Yenagoa, Port-Harcourt, Calabar and Eket with prospects of isolated thunderstorms over the coastal cities during the afternoon and evening hours.

    NiMet added that the entire southern states would experience day and night temperatures of 29 to 33 and 20 to 25 degrees Celsius respectively.

    According to NiMet, Northern States will experience cloudy morning with chances of isolated thunderstorms over Yelwa, Gusau and Maiduguri during the afternoon and evening hours.

    “The region will have day and night temperatures of 30 to 38 and 21 to 25 degrees Celsius respectively.

    “The entire country is characterized with moisture laden winds which are favourable for thunderstorms and rains over most places in the next 24 hours,” NiMet predicted.

    The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted that the southern part of the central states would experience thunderstorms with chances of rains this morning.

    The predictions are contained in the Weather Outlook issued by NiMet’s Central Forecast Office (CFO) yesterday in Abuja.

    It added that localized thunderstorms with rains are likely to affect a few places within the region such as Zaria, Kaduna, Jos, Bauchi, Yola and Gombe axis later in the day.

    NiMet also predicted that the coastal areas would experience cloudy conditions over the southwest with chances of localized rains over the southeast coast in the morning.

    It said that localized rains would be expected in the afternoon and evening hours over the entire region.

    NiMet also predicted that the inland areas would experience a cloudy morning over the southwest cities, with chances of continuous intermittent localized rains over the southeast the entire day.

    It added that localized rains may linger over a few of the southwest cities in the afternoon and evening hours.

    NiMet further predicted that the northern cities of Kano, Katsina, Gusau and Sokoto axis would experience thunderstorms with chances of localized thunderstorms over Dutse, Nguru, Potiskum in the morning hours.

    The agency added that localised afternoon thunderstorms may persist over some northern cities within the region during the forecast period.
