Tinubu rescued Rivers with emergency rule, says Fubara

Declaration of emergency rule by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu saved Rivers State from “looming anarchy”, suspended Governor Siminalayi Fubara said yesterday.

He said the President’s swift intervention shielded the state from the consequences of the festering political crisis.

Calling on his supporters, Rivers people and Nigerians to commend Tinubu for acting with wisdom at the right time, Fubara noted that the peace and reconciliation process required to restore all executive and legislative institutions and offices in the state was underway.

He assured that democracy and good governance would soon return in the state, with both arms working together for the good of the people.

A statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Nelson Chukwudi, said the suspended governor spoke at a meeting with leaders and stakeholders of the Simplified Movement as part of activities to mark his two years in office in Port Harcourt yesterday.

Fubara said: “I want to assure you that the issues will soon be resolved, and you will come back to your offices; not just at the executive arm, but also legislative arm.

“And, I also believe that the strong relationships we had before will return, and we will begin to work together again, for the good and progress of the state. What is important is for us to have a forgiving spirit.”

Fubara urged his supporters and the entire Rivers people to show unreserved appreciation to the President for his bold action to halt the degenerating political crisis in the state.

He asked them to totally subject themselves to the peace process to enable the state move forward.

He said: “We are already in the peace process. I want you to thank Mr. President for his timely intervention to salvage the situation, and stabilise the polity and the State. If not for Mr. President, the story today would have been different.

“I don’t know how he gets his information, but the truth is that he acted with wisdom at the right time. He is the one you should thank.

“And let me also thank him personally for his intervention, and the personalities across the country, who moved in and appealed to him to intervene.

“We have to come down from our high horses, and subject ourselves to the peace process. And that is what we are doing. What is important is for the State to move forward. It is not about you, the interest of the State is paramount.”

He noted that but for the political situation, orchestrated by the crisis, the second year celebrations would have been used to showcase some of the key milestones recorded by the administration in various sectors across the state.

Fubara assured that the government would bounce back stronger, more united and engineered to deliver quality dividends of democracy to the people.

Admitting that those angered and aggrieved had the right to be, the governor noted that the time has come for all to embrace peace, pursue reconciliation and forgiveness for the development and progress of the state.

Fubara pleaded for forgiveness from anyone who may have felt disappointed in his handling of the crisis, emphasizing that his actions were guided by a desire to protect the peace and progress of the state.

He expressed appreciation to the President for the steps he had taken as a father to restore peace, stability and good governance in the state and assured of speedy reconciliation with his predecessor, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike.

He added that since the President’s intervention, several reconciliatory meetings had been held, including some at the FCT minister’s residence.

He said: “There is no reason why there will not be peace between me and my Oga (in reference to the former governor). There will be peace. We are meeting. We will reconcile.”

Fubara said that he was indebted to the people for their sacrifices and opportunity to serve and promised to continue to show respect for the people of the State, who entrusted him with the mandate.

“One important thing in this life is respect. I want to earn the respect of the people, not force it on them. I’m with you completely,” he said.

He thanked Rivers people and all Nigerians who stood by him during the period of political turbulence, acknowledging their loyalty and prayers.

    ‘Difficult decisions will be made’

Earlier, Fubara hinted of plans to make difficult decisions in the interest of the state and residents.

Although he did not explain what he meant by “difficult decisions,” he enjoined his supporters to embrace the path of peace, reconciliation and forgiveness.

“Despite the turbulence that erupted in the state shortly after he became governor in 2023, time has come to rebuild the state,” the suspended governor said in a statement.

Fubara told residents that peace, reconciliation and forgiveness were essential to restoring normalcy and transforming infrastructure in the state.

The statement reads: “We are at a crucial point in our journey, where difficult decisions must be made. Be assured that every step we take will be guided by your best interests and the enduring good of Rivers State.

“Your support has emboldened me to press on and not to retreat, but to work harder to foster peace, reconciliation, and forgiveness. These are essential to restoring normalcy and delivering transformational infrastructure, impactful programmes, and life-changing services across the state.

“As we reflect on the lessons of the past two years, I am hopeful for what lies ahead. I look forward to working hand in hand with all of you to build a state we can all be proud of: a Rivers State that stands as a model for the rest of Nigeria.

“To those still carrying the weight of our recent political struggles, I appeal to you, let us turn the page, come together, and focus on our shared goal of progress and unity. The time to rebuild and rise is now.

“In the past two years, our political landscape has undergone significant changes. Despite the turbulence, I have remained steadfast and focused, guided by the oath I took and the solemn promise I made to always put Rivers State first.

“I pledged to protect and promote our collective interests and ensure you enjoy the real dividends of democracy and good governance. That commitment remains unshaken.

“While we have faced daunting political challenges that have, at times, slowed our pace, these two years have not been without meaningful progress.

“I am proud of the visible milestones we have achieved, modest but significant strides in healthcare, education, infrastructure, youth empowerment, human capital development, and the inclusion of women in governance.”

“These achievements would not have been possible without your unwavering support and hope in the brighter future we all envision for Rivers State.”

“For your sacrifices, contributions, and the roles you’ve played in your respective capacities, I say a heartfelt thank you.

“As we look ahead, I reaffirm my pledge to consolidate on our gains and remain fully committed to the key priorities of this administration: peace, security, community welfare, and the socio-economic advancement of our state.”

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), members of the National Assembly, ministers, governors and other leaders rated him high for accomplishing much for the country through the implementation of bold economic reforms.

President Tinubu, who assumed the reins on May 29, 2023, yesterday celebrated his two years in office without funfare.

Last week, he was endorsed for a second term by the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), led by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma; APC  federal lawmakers, led by Senate President Godswill Akpabio and the party leadership, led  by National Chairman Abdullahi Ganduje.

In a statement on Wednesday, the President reflected on the reforms, saying they have set Nigeria on the path of growth and stability.

Tinubu has restored hope, says Akpabio

Senate President Godswill Akpabio praised the president for restoring hope for a viable and sustainable nation through transformative and courageous leadership.

He said in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Eseme Eyiboh, that the president has placed Nigeria on a solid developmental pedestal, with the Renewed Hope Agenda as his policy thrust.

Akpabio said the torrents of endorsement for a fresh term is not a fluke, but an expression of delight at the President’s score card.

Akpabio said: “Mr. President, your bold initiatives and reforms, particularly in  economic and fiscal policies, demonstrate your undying dedication to transforming Nigeria to its deserving greatness.

“You have received torrents of endorsements to return to office in 2027 just two years into your first tenure. These endorsements are certainly not a fluke but founded on verifiable performance in good governance and delivery on campaign promises and undiluted national consciousness.”

    Tinubu averted gloom, says APC

The ruling party lauded President Tinubu for averting gloom, stressing that he rekindled public confidence in government.

APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka told reporters in Abuja that the economy has been rejuvenated.

He said: “We make bold to say that our vehicle of state, under the able, capable, safe and steady hands of our executive driver, leader, president and Commander-In-Chief Chief is on the move.

“Our leader, Mr. President, is not the first president of our dear country.  But he is the first to break with what had become a stagnating culture of presidential inertia.

“Like a confident surgeon, he has enacted and continues to enact policy reforms skillfully designed to give our country not just a chance of urgent resuscitation, but a real shot at rejuvenating wellness.”

    Wike: It is unprecedented feat

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike,  who inspected some on-going projects in Abuja, said President Tinubu’s performance in two years is unprecedented.

He praised him for the infrastructural development and rapid transformation of the FCT, adding that the feat is acknowledged by Nigerians, irrespective of their political leanings.

Emphasizing the significant progress made under the Renewed Hope Agenda, Wike said: “From the FCT where I superintend by his mandate, you will know that Mr. President has done very well. It’s unprecedented”.

He added: “All of us were critics that Abuja has not been working and now Abuja is working. Who has made it to work? It’s Mr. President. So, Mr. President has done very well”.

The minister, who was greeted by the enthusiastic “four plus four” chants from FCT residents during the project inspection, interpreted it as a clear mandate for President Tinubu to serve another term.

He stressed: “What they are saying is that Mr. President has done four years and we should give him another four years.”

Urging Abuja residents to pay their taxes, Wike said: “The people of Abuja deserve the best and the contractors are doing their best. I can assure you that. For me, there cannot be anything less.

    ‘One good term deserves another’

Hailing President Tinubu for living to expectation,  Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo said: “One good term deserves another.”

He said in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Fred Itua, that the president had laid a formidable foundation for national renewal and sustainable progress.

Okpebholo also lauded the relationship between the federal and the sub-national units, saying that it has fostered accelerated development in Edo.

He said: “It is evident that President Tinubu possesses the clarity of vision, the political will, and the patriotic zeal required to steer Nigeria to its rightful place among the comity of nations.

Nigeria is making progress, says Oyebanji

Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji praised President Tinubu for providing a courageous leadership, stressing that the country is recording progress across the sectors.

He said in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Yinka Oyebode, the visionary leadership and conscientious pursuit of his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda have yielded dividends and strengthened the polity.

Oyebanji also praised the President for his economic reform, which is making more resources available to the sub nationals, thereby enhancing growth and development across the states of the federation.

He expressed gratitude to the President for assisting Ekiti with empowerment initiatives, capital projects, appointments of deserving indigenes into prominent positions and siting of a new Federal University in Iyin-Ekiti.

    ‘He is repositioning Nigeria‘

Gombe State Governor Inuwa Yahaya said the President is repositioning the country through the implementation of viable social and economic reforms.

The governor felicitated  the President and his deputy, Vice President Kashim Shettima on the occasion of their second in office.

Yahaya, in a statement by his media aide, Ismaila Uba-Misilli, said: “President Tinubu has taken decisive steps to reposition Nigeria on the path of sustainable growth.”

The governor, who chairs the Northern Governors’ Forum (NGF), added: “The Northern region is already feeling the ripple effects of Tinubu’s policies through the improved Federal Government collaborations, increased access to social investments, and targeted empowerment programmes for youths, women and vulnerable”.

Nigeria on path of greatness, says Omo-Agege

Former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege said President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies are gradually making Nigeria a choice investment haven and destination for investors.

He said in a statement: “Our dear President picked up the gauntlet and took the tough decisions that have charted a new trajectory that is bringing Nigeria on the cusp of greatness again. He has cleaned up the Augean stable and more.

“I heartily congratulate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for the transformation he has brought to the polity and economy. It may seem challenging, but it is just what the doctor needed to revive his patient.

    ‘Tinubu has shown exemplary leadership’

The Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Dr Dennis Otuaro, said  President Tinubu has shown exemplary leadership.

He said the President had demonstrated striking leadership and worked assiduously to strengthen unity and peaceful co-existence, deepen good governance and enrich democratic practice in the country.

Otuaro said in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Igoniko Oduma, that the president had displayed uncommon courage in confronting the economic challenges, adding that his bold decisions and well-thought-out reforms had brought about national rebirth.

How female doctor abandoned certificate for carpentry, by Bugaje

The Executive Secretary of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE), Prof. Idris Bugaje, stressed the importance of promoting inclusivity  for women and persons with disabilities in technical education.

Reflecting on the impact of President Tinubu’s administration, he narrated an inspiring story of a female medical doctor who abandoned her medical career to pursue carpentry.

Bugaje said: “There is a story I want to share with you, about a girl who was interested in becoming a carpenter. The father was a carpenter and they were four children in the family, three boys and herself.

“Whenever she joined the boys to the workshop, the father would send her away, saying, ‘you are a girl, go back to the house, you are not supposed to be a carpenter’’.

“Without giving considerations to the passion of the young girl, the father sent her to a medical school. She graduated with the MBBS, went and did the one-year internship after graduation, and chose a role as a medical doctor.

“After that, she came back to the father, returned the MBBS certificate to him, and thanked him.

Afterward, she told the father that her passion is in carpentry, not to practice as medical doctor.”

He added that after spending seven years on medical training, the father had no option but to send her to Turkey to learn how to make furniture.

Addressing cultural and societal barriers often faced by young women in technical fields, Bugaje appealed to parents to support their daughters’ interests in trades like plumbing, electrical installation, and carpentry.

He also called on policymakers to prioritise passion and skill development among youth, especially girls, noting that such encouragement could lead to greater innovation and self-reliance.

Bugaje added: “If they want to become carpenters, ICT experts, or POP artists, allow them. In skills’ training, passion is very important. That’s what motivates children and helps them innovate.

“We need to harness these innovations if the country is to move forward and rise beyond being a third-world nation.”

Reforms have heralded fiscal stability, say experts

A Gombe-based economic analyst, Carneleus Moses, said the economic reforms have begun to yield results, thus positioning Nigeria for long-term fiscal stability and economic resilience.

Moses, who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Gombe,  commended the administration’s efforts in strengthening tax administration and public finance management.

He said these measures had significantly improved the fiscal outlook of both the federal and sub-national governments.

Moses added: “The administration’s bold steps are already reshaping Nigeria’s economic landscape. The increase of over N6 trillion in states’ revenue in 2024 alone is a major milestone’’.

Also, Dr Bachama Nigel of Department of Economics, Gombe State University, said: “It is not the amount of revenue generated that matters but how the revenue is utilised. Is it adequate to cater for the basic needs of the people? These are the important issues to consider.

“Trillions of naira have been generated, and all arms of government have received their shares; yet, the poor are becoming poorer.

“There is nothing wrong with tax reform but let us consider the conditions of the people and explore what can be done.”

Economy is better now, says lawmaker

House of Representatives member Joseph  Nwobashi (Ezza North-Ishielu Constituency),   hailed President Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to rebuilding the economy.

He told reporters in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State capital,  that the President had performed creditably well

He said: “The President is doing well for the nation and he has been up and doing to ensure that the economy takes its shape and we must get there.’’

Rev. Ajayi: There is evidence of transformation

The Founder of the Love of Christ Generation Church, Rev. Esther Ajayi, said there is evidence of transformation under the administration.

She also expressed optimism that Lagos State would still attain greater heights under the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Rev. Ajayi, who spoke with reporters after a meeting with Sanwo-Olu at the Lagos House,  Marina, said the ongoing infrastructural and agricultural initiatives of both Tinubu and Sanwo-Olu were yielding visible results.

She noted that a growing number of Nigerians were returning to farming, while others were  venturing into export-related businesses.

    A promised fulfilled, says Kwankwaso

The Director of Finance, Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority (HJRBDA), Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso, yesterday said President Bola Tinubu is matching his words with actions.

He added: “For the first time in years, Nigerians can travel the Birnin Gwari to Kaduna road even at midnight. That’s progress. Zaria to Funtua to Gusau is now peaceful, and Abuja-Kaduna road has been largely secured.

  • Tinubu’s two years of bold reforms, national revival

Tinubu’s two years of bold reforms, national revival

    By Jobson Oseodion Ewalefoh

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has marked a defining chapter in Nigeria’s history—one anchored on courage, bold reforms, and a relentless pursuit of progress. As ThisDay Newspaper crowned him 2024 “Man of the Year,” they rightly noted:

“Whether lampooned or lionised, President Bola Tinubu could not be accused of lacking courage to take tough decisions or the will to stay the course.”

    Those words ring true.

In just two years, President Tinubu has embarked on transformative initiatives across various sectors, laying the groundwork for sustainable development.

Key reforms include the removal of petrol subsidies and the unification of the exchange rate, creating a market-reflective and stable currency environment. These measures have enabled the Central Bank of Nigeria to increase foreign exchange reserves, now more than $38 billion.

These reforms have resulted in a surge in investment inflows, with domestic and international investors regaining confidence in the economy. Fitch upgraded Nigeria’s long-term foreign-currency issuer default rating from B- to B and revised the outlook from Negative to Stable in April 2025. This upgrade reflects increased confidence in the government’s commitment to policy reforms, including exchange rate liberalization, monetary policy tightening, and steps to end deficit monetization and remove fuel subsidies.

The World Bank recently reported that Nigeria’s economy grew at its fastest rate in nearly a decade in 2024, attributing this to the early successes of the President’s macroeconomic reforms. The country’s fiscal deficit dropped from 5.4% of GDP in 2023 to 3.0% in 2024, bolstered by increased national revenue, from N16.8 trillion to N31.9 trillion.

Infrastructure and Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Acceleration

President Tinubu’s focus on infrastructure development has catalyzed greater private sector participation in critical sectors such as healthcare, transportation, energy, ICT, among others. The President reiterated his administration’s stance on PPP at the 29th Nigerian Economic Summit (NES) held on October 23, 2023. He stated, “We must work together. I have proven capacity in this regard, as we remember the role of public-private partnerships in the transformation of Lagos State under my leadership. We will replicate that across Nigeria with your unwavering support”.

The President has demonstrated his commitment to road infrastructure in Nigeria, with numerous projects including the 6-lane 700-kilometre Lagos-Calabar coastal road designed to enhance connectivity and facilitate trade across eight states—Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River; and the Sokoto-Badagry highway that links the Western and Northern parts of the country. The Keffi-Akwanga-Lafia-Makurdi highway has been commissioned and is operational, while the Benin-Asaba highway has been flagged off under the Highway Development and Management Initiative (HDMI). The contractor has since moved to the site.

The administration has also implemented far reaching reforms in the area of internal security and boarder control management with the introduction of biometric passport application and e-visa initiatives, the implementation of Advanced Passenger Information (API) system, the Command and Control Center and the deployment of e-gates at the four major airports to make arrival and screening seamless for Nigerians.

The administration is implementing, approving, and advancing PPP projects across various sectors to drive infrastructure development and economic growth. At the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting of 12th May 2025, approvals were granted for some PPP projects that include:

•MediPool: A centralized procurement and distribution hub for medicines, vaccines, and medical consumables, ensuring access in rural and underserved areas. It also includes local production of drugs. A groundbreaking PPP to centralise the procurement and delivery of medicines, vaccines, and supplies across Nigeria.

•Ikere Gorge Hydropower Project (Oyo State): A revival of a 1970s project under a Finance-Build-Operate-Transfer (FBOT) model to generate a 6MW small hydroelectric power project in Oyo State, developed via PPP. It is designed for expansion—irrigation, water supply, and solar integration.

•Federal Coastal Fishery Terminal (Borokiri, Rivers State): Rehabilitation and upgrade of the Federal Coastal Fishery Terminal, Borokiri, Rivers State, to boost domestic fish production, enhance post-harvest handling, and improve food and nutrition security.

Other notable PPP projects include Kashimbila Integrated Cargo and Agro-Allied Airport Project (Taraba State. The project involves the upgrade of an existing airstrip into a cargo/agro-allied airport and the development of over 3,000 hectares of farmland for irrigation, livestock ranching, and fish farming.

Additionally, talks are ongoing for a PPP initiative to construct the Dasin Hausa Dam to mitigate flooding from the Lagdo Dam in Cameroon. The Product Authentication and Tracking System (PATS) aims to combat counterfeit goods by digitally tagging products with unique security codes.

These projects will not only drive infrastructure development but also embody the spirit of the Renewed Hope Agenda—transforming infrastructure delivery, creating jobs, and ensuring no region is left behind.

    Youth Inclusion and Empowerment

The administration has also demonstrated a firm commitment to youth inclusion by appointing a significant number of young Nigerians into key political and leadership positions. This intentional shift signals a break from the past and an embrace of a new generation of thinkers and doers poised to shape Nigeria’s future. From Ministers to Heads of strategic agencies, young professionals are now at the forefront of national development, bringing innovation, energy, and fresh perspectives to governance.

Complementing this is the administration’s robust support for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs)—a sector dominated by the youth. Through initiatives like the Presidential Conditional Grant Scheme and the rollout of targeted loan programmes, thousands of young entrepreneurs have received access to funding, business support, and mentorship. These interventions are not only empowering job creators but also stimulating grassroots economic activity, reinforcing the Renewed Hope Agenda’s focus on inclusive growth and youth-driven prosperity.

    Agriculture and Food Security

To address food insecurity and rising prices, the President declared a state of emergency on food production. This unlocked N100 billion in fertiliser support for farmers and spotlighted Taraba State’s agricultural potential as a national model. Agriculture is once again being positioned as a driver of inclusive growth.

    Energy and Digital Transformation

In power and energy, the administration initiated the National Integrated Electricity Policy—an ambitious $122 billion roadmap that combines infrastructure renewal with investor-friendly reforms. It aims to power industry, productivity, and innovation.

In addition, the administration signed the Electricity Act, 2023, a transformative piece of legislation that decentralizes the power sector by allowing states to develop, generate, transmit, and distribute electricity independently. This strategic move empowers sub-national governments to attract private sector investments, tailor energy solutions to local needs, and accelerate access to reliable power across the country.

In the digital economy, Nigeria has moved into the spotlight. Under Tinubu’s leadership, foreign direct investment surged from $22 million in Q1 2023 to $191 million in Q1 2024. A major driver is the proposed $2 billion national fibre optic rollout, delivering high-speed internet and transforming how Nigerians live, learn, and work.

    Health, Security, and Social Impact

Healthcare is being reimagined from the grassroots. The National Health Fellows Programme is deploying young professionals to all 774 local government areas, ensuring quality care reaches remote communities.

Security is also being addressed with both firmness and empathy. The clearing of N18 billion in insurance arrears for military personnel reaffirmed faith in the armed forces. Coordinated efforts have restored calm in parts of the Northeast and Northwest, where farmlands are now returning to life.

Through the Renewed Hope Initiative, women and youth are receiving targeted support. Amendments to the Social Investment Programmes have strengthened transparency and ensured impact-driven delivery.

    Global Leadership and Climate Action

On the global stage, the administration introduced the 4Ds Foreign Policy Doctrine—Democracy, Development, Demography, and Diaspora—repositioning Nigeria as a key global actor and investment destination.

Equally notable is the leadership on climate action. Climate resilience is now a national priority, not a policy afterthought, and Nigeria is asserting its voice in global sustainability dialogues.

Conclusion: A Call to Collective Responsibility

As we reflect on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s two years in office, one thing is clear: this presidency is defined not by rhetoric, but by results. From economic stability and infrastructure revitalisation to social investment and national security, he has confronted Nigeria’s challenges with clarity and conviction.

Transformation on this scale requires more than leadership—it requires partnership. It calls for belief and active participation from all Nigerians—young and old, rural and urban.

Now is the time to rise beyond cynicism, see the big picture, and contribute to a cause greater than us.

The future is being built brick by brick, reform by reform. The call is clear: Support the Renewed Hope Agenda, not just for today, but for the Nigeria of our dreams.

  • Two years on, Nigeria in transition from reforms to recovery

Two years on, Nigeria in transition from reforms to recovery

    By Sunday Dare

As President Bola Ahmed Tinubu marks two years in office, the series of structural reforms and sector-specific initiatives aimed at stabilizing the macroeconomy, expanding access to finance, and accelerating inclusive development begins to take firm root.

Under President Tinubu, Nigeria’s economy achieved its fastest growth in  10 years in 2024. According to the World Bank, his slew of new fiscal and monetary policies now positions Nigeria strongly for a growth projection of 3.6% this year, 2025.

Key milestones include the establishment of regional development commissions, new education financing and credit access schemes, targeted investments in health and human capital, a renewed push into the blue economy and resurgent investor confidence opening up new funds in oil and gas, energy, mining and agriculture. The list goes on.

A robust infrastructure renewal drive—anchored by flagship road and transport corridor projects—is underway to enhance connectivity and unlock regional trade. Complemented by tax reforms, wage adjustments, and energy transition efforts, the administration’s agenda reflects a strategic pivot toward decentralisation, innovation, and fiscal sustainability.

Crucially, Nigeria is reasserting itself as a more investor-friendly destination, underpinned by a renewed commitment to the rule of law, institutional reforms, and a regulatory environment aimed at attracting domestic and foreign capital.

While challenges persist—particularly in inflation, security, and policy implementation—the foundations for long-term economic competitiveness and private-sector-led growth are being laid. One man’s clear vision and decisive temperament, laced with an aggressive approach to reforms, has opened up Nigeria’s possibilities and potential.

There are ongoing efforts showcasing achievements and impacts that have shaped the socio-economic landscape of the nation as the Tinubu Government reaches the midway mark.

    Regional Development Frameworks

To address Nigeria’s geographic diversity and region-specific challenges, the administration has advanced the establishment and operationalization of regional development commissions. The South West, North East, North West, South East, North Central, and South-South Development Commissions now serve as vehicles for sub-national infrastructure delivery, post-conflict recovery, and local economic development—helping decentralize impact and institutionalize regional equity.

    Expanding Access to Consumer Credit

The establishment of the Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDITCORP) marks a significant move to widen financial inclusion and support domestic consumption. CREDITCORP is designed to facilitate access to consumer credit for underserved populations, particularly civil servants, youth, informal sector workers, and lower-income households. By offering credit guarantees and working with financial institutions, the initiative aims to stimulate spending, improve living standards, and energize the economy through responsible borrowing and lending mechanisms. So far, over 200,000 have benefited.

    Advancing Education Financing

To democratize access to higher education, the government launched the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), a dedicated vehicle for financing tertiary education. The scheme provides low-interest, long-tenure student loans to eligible Nigerians, reducing financial barriers to university and vocational training. This initiative aligns with the administration’s broader goals of human capital development, youth empowerment, and long-term productivity enhancement. One year after its launch NELFUND has benefited about Six Hundred Thousand Students.

    Unlocking the Blue Economy

With over 850 kilometers of Atlantic coastline and expansive inland waterways, the administration has prioritized the development of the blue economy. New policies and sector plans aim to sustainably tap Nigeria’s marine and ocean resources while generating jobs across coastal states and boosting revenues from fisheries, tourism, port infrastructure, and marine transport.

Agricultural Transformation and Livestock Policy to bolster food security and rural incomes, a dedicated Ministry of Livestock Development was established, separating livestock policy from crop agriculture for more tailored interventions.

Under Tinubu’s Watch – Nigeria Transitions from Reforms to Recovery

Investments in climate-resilient farming, modern ranching, and value-chain processing are aimed at boosting productivity, reducing import dependency, and addressing longstanding pastoralist-farmer tensions.

The Livestock Ministry established by President Tinubu is a product of good thinking and visionary leadership. The Ministry can significantly boost the livestock sector’s contribution to Nigeria’s GDP, moving from $32 billion to $74 billion by 2035.  In terms of potential, the sector could generate over N33 trillion in revenue.

In a bid to stabilize the foreign exchange market and strengthen the Naira, the government has launched new oil-trade mechanisms, including the Naira-for-Crude initiative and Crude-for-Naira transactions. These instruments seek to restructure how Nigeria monetizes its oil exports while ensuring domestic currency liquidity and reducing dollar demand pressures.

Capital Market Deepening and Investment Incentives.

With Treasury bill interest rates exceeding 20%, the Central Bank has recalibrated short-term borrowing instruments to attract investors and contain inflation. In parallel, the creation of a new national credit guarantee institution—CREDITCORP—aims to ease access to finance for micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), supporting job creation and GDP growth.

Flagship Infrastructure Projects. From the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway to the Sokoto-Badagry Economic Road, large-scale infrastructure projects are underway with the dual objectives of enhancing connectivity and unlocking regional trade corridors. These projects are expected to catalyze logistics modernization, cross-border commerce, and localized economic activity.

    Welfare Enhancements and Youth Incentives

In a major boost to youth welfare, the administration has raised the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) monthly stipend from N33,000 to N77,000—more than doubling support for graduates participating in national service. This marks a broader effort to retain skilled youth, reduce brain drain, and incentivize civic participation.

    Tax Reforms and Digital Government

The introduction of the new tax reform bills now awaiting accent of the President is designed to simplify Nigeria’s complex tax architecture, reduce evasion, and improve compliance. Complementary reforms such as digital passport issuance and the installation of e-gates at international airports are improving public service delivery and reducing bureaucratic delays.

    Wage Reform and Labor Protection

To protect household incomes in the face of inflation, the government has pledged to implement a recurring minimum wage review every three years. This institutional commitment aims to ensure wage growth keeps pace with economic conditions and worker productivity.

Transition to Clean Energy and Trade Logistics

As part of its energy transition plan, the government is scaling up the use of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) as a cleaner and more affordable fuel alternative. Simultaneously, the Three Million Tons Transport and Trade (3MTTT) initiative targets an overhaul of freight logistics, boosting efficiency in the movement of goods across the country.

Strengthening Local Goverment Administration. The drive for local government autonomy remains central to the administration’s federalism agenda. By promoting fiscal and administrative independence for local councils, the aim is to enhance public service delivery and bring decision-making closer to the grassroots.

Diversification of the Economy: Away from Oil, President Tinubu as pursued aggressively the goal of decertifying the Nigerian economy. Nigeria’s Solid Minerals potentials is receiving full attention under Minister Dele Alake and contributing immensely to national revenue.  Nigeria’s mining reforms now yielding six-fold increase in revenue, $800m foreign investment.

    Conclusion

President Tinubu’s first two years in office have ushered in a bold and wide-ranging reform agenda aimed at stabilizing Nigeria’s macroeconomic fundamentals while positioning the country for long-term, inclusive growth. From aggressive infrastructure renewal and enhanced health and human capital investment to targeted sectoral interventions, the administration has demonstrated a commitment to modernizing Nigeria’s development model and unlocking its full economic potential.

With a focus on decentralization, innovation, and private-sector engagement, these reforms are actively reshaping the business landscape. Strategic initiatives—such as the launch of regional development commissions, credit access schemes, education financing, capital market reforms, and energy transition programs—signal a deliberate move toward a more competitive, investor-responsive economy. The government’s emphasis on regulatory clarity, institutional strengthening, and the rule of law is restoring confidence in Nigeria as a destination where capital is protected, contracts are respected, and the private sector is seen as a true partner in national development.

Nigeria’s expanding infrastructure backbone—from coastal highways to trade corridors—is being aligned with human capital initiatives in education, healthcare, and skills development, providing the critical foundation for sustainable productivity and innovation. These combined efforts not only foster domestic resilience but also create compelling entry points for foreign direct investment across sectors such as logistics, technology, energy, agribusiness, financial services, and manufacturing.

Nigeria is ready for business. The doors are open, and all legitimate investors—from across Africa and around the world—are welcome to engage in mutually beneficial partnerships. Backed by a population of over 200 million people, an increasingly digital economy, and a government committed to reforms, Nigeria offers one of the most promising frontiers for growth, scale, and return on investment.

While challenges remain, the trajectory is clear: this is a country undergoing a renaissance. Sustaining momentum will require disciplined execution, measurable results, and a continued focus on transparency and global best practices, which President Tinubu has all but done. With a strong foundation now in place, Nigeria is confidently stepping into a new era of opportunities and inviting the world to take a bet on it.

  • Mid-term assessment

    Mid-term assessment

Strides have been taken, but a lot more is needed

Traditionally, mid-term is a good time to review the activities of a government. President Bola Tinubu came to power on May 29, 2023, promising a new lease of life for Nigerians.

However, he equally said during the campaign that the going would be tough at the beginning because of the state of the economy he was inheriting.

Thus, on the day his administration was inaugurated, he announced the removal of subsidy on premium motor spirit (PMS) or petrol. That policy was followed by a merger of the official and parallel foreign exchange market rates. While many have cried out about the inflationary effect of the twin policies, government has maintained that there was no alternative.

That was the promise during the electioneering campaign and it ought not to have come as a surprise, especially since the two other major candidates – Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party and Peter Obi of the Labour Party – gave similar campaign pledges. As the Tinubu administration has explained, it appears that prices are beginning to settle. The exchange rate that was at a point threatening to hit N2000, is now stable at about N1600. This is still unbearable, but it is an indication that the downward push could continue to a more comfortable level.

This is better demonstrated in the price of the PMS, that was about N167 per litre at the inception of the government, but shot up to a peak of about N1,400 per litre before a marked reduction to the current N895 in Lagos. Perhaps market forces are not really a monster that many people in the developing countries think it is.

Economic reforms are inevitable, even in the most developed countries. The statement by American President Bill Clinton, “it’s the economy, stupid”, continues to reverberate on the political scene till date. It indicated an urgent need for reform of the economic structure of the country then.

President Tinubu must be credited with great courage to have come up with his reforms at this time, and if he successfully pulls them through, it would be the greatest achievement of his administration and this generation.

The twin policy announced immediately he assumed office have been complemented with an industry-acclaimed management restructure of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL). The appointment of Bayo Ojulari, a seasoned player in the oil and gas industry, as replacement for Mele Kyari, sent a right message to investors, who responded with renewed confidence in the country.  The financial rigour is shown in the liquidation of the International Monetary Fund’s loans, the $7 billion loans and ways and means burdens. He has reduced the debt service ratio from 97 percent to 65 percent. This has freed revenue for projects.

One immediate indication that the government would make impact, at least in some sectors, was the pledge by the Minister of the Interior, Mr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, that obtaining the Nigerian passport would be seamless, and available within two weeks of application. He also gave a marching order to the Nigerian Immigration Service to process the backlog of applications within three weeks. While most Nigerians regarded this as an empty boast, his accomplishment of the pledge showed he knew and meant what he said.

The minister has since taken further steps to show that a lot could be achieved with determination. The e-gate at the Lagos international airport is one example of a giant stride taken by the ministry.

In 2024, the president issued an executive order on removal of tariffs and Value Added Tax on pharmaceutical active ingredients, towards facilitating local production and forcing down the price of medicines manufactured in the country. This is beginning to yield some positive results, though a lot more is expected. As soon as prices responded to the new exchange rate and energy cost, prices of drugs, both imported and locally manufactured, responded and most people who were finding it difficult to purchase drugs resorted to herbs, including those crudely produced under unhygienic conditions. The appointment of Professor Alli Pate in 2023 as Minister of Health was one that elicited optimism at both national and international levels. He is not new to the public service, having served as minister of state in the ministry before. His international exposure, too, was seen as a plus for the Tinubu administration.

In two years, the ministry has rehabilitated and constructed 1,000 primary health care centres. He is said to be working assiduously towards lifting the health of the average Nigerian despite the inclement economic environment.

In just two years, he has surpassed any other administration in agriculture investment as Kaduna State governor Uba Sani asserts. Big farms focusing on produce like rice, millet, etc are blooming just as thousands of tractors are brought in to escalate his vision.

In the education sector, one thing that the president promised and has fulfilled is the Education Loan Fund. At the moment, about 500,000 students are said to have benefitted from the scheme. These are mainly indigent students who might either not have gained admission or could have dropped from school. This is a giant step that even opponents of the president should applaud.

One major contributory factor to high cost of food and other products is transportation. While the compressed natural gas (CNG) policy had been on the table for more than a decade, it took the Tinubu administration to promote it from the back burner to the front. In some parts of the country, transporters have been converting their vehicles to the use of CNG. This, many of them have confessed, is a master stroke. This is however still a far cry from what is needed, as there are still few conversion centres and filling stations. Obviously it would take time to meet demand, but with the first step taken, government has demonstrated good faith. It is up to the trade unions, civil society organisations and the public to continue putting pressure on the government in this wise.

Infrastructure is surely one of the major areas that the government has done so much. From the legacy projects of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road and Sokoto-Badagry highway, to reconstruction of existing roads and bridges in all parts of the country, it is obvious that President Tinubu wants to leave his footsteps in the sands of time.

Other positive impacts made by the administration include the judgment obtained from the Supreme Court in favour of  financial autonomy of local government councils as third tier of government, despite the fierce resistance by the state governments.

It however remains a final push to get the Accountant-General of the Federation and the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to give effect to the judgment given since last July.

The boost in revenue of the federation has been of so much benefit to the states as they have been drawing more than double their previous funds from the Federation Account. This has enabled them to pay off much of their debts to commercial banks and thus free funds for projects. However, not much is being done for the masses by many state governments, thus making them accuse the Federal Government of doing little. This must be corrected if the country is to make the progress needed.

Security is a major problem of the country as it affects all sectors. Unless there is marked improvement in security, it would be difficult to boost food production, build roads and houses, boost oil and gas production and engender confidence of the people in government.

Government has taken steps through the Office of the National Security Adviser to improve security, but there is so much more to be achieved. The resurgence of insecurity in states like Borno, Plateau, Benue, tends to underplay much progress achieved. In Kaduna State, for instance,  three local governments that were out of bounds for most citizens are now safe, including a major market in Birnin Gwari. Big-name bandits have been killed n the past year across the north and states like Zamfara, Sokoto, Katsina Kogi and Nasarawa have witness considerable improvements. We still have disturbing level of concern but progress made give reasons for hope. Until Nigerians in all parts of the country could sleep with both eyes closed, government cannot afford to give itself a pass mark. But it has shown itself as thinking and transformative government pursuing bold reforms under a daring reformer.

    • Tinubu’s performance in two years unprecedented – Wike

Tinubu’s performance in two years unprecedented – Wike

Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike on Thursday described the performance of President Bola Tinubu as tremendous and unprecedented performance, particularly in the rapid transformation of Abuja’s infrastructure over the past two years.

Wike said this while briefing reporters during a routine inspection of ongoing infrastructure projects slated for commissioning to commemorate the milestone.

Emphasising the significant progress made under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, the minister said; “From the FCT where I superintend by his mandate, you will know that Mr. President has done very well. It’s unprecedented”.

The Minister urged all Nigerians, regardless of political affiliation, to acknowledge the President’s tangible successes, sating, “Even if you don’t like somebody as a person, when he does a good thing, you say yes, I’m not in good terms with him, I don’t like him, but he is doing well or he has done well”.

Wike highlighted the dramatic improvements in the FCT, which he attributed to the leadership style of President Tinubu.

He said; “All of us were critics that Abuja has not been working and now Abuja is working. Who has made it to work? It’s Mr. President. So, Mr. President has done very well”.

The Minister, who was greeted by enthusiastic “four plus four” chants from FCT residents during the project inspection, interpreted the chant as a clear mandate for President Tinubu to serve another term.

“What they are saying is that Mr. President has done four years and we should give him another four years,” he noted, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to be part of an administration delivering on its promises.

The Minister provided updates on several key projects all set to be inaugurated as part of the anniversary celebrations, including 15 kilometres OSEX II to Wasa road, connecting Apo and Wasa District which was fully completed as well as the Arterial Road N20 interchange across the ONEX and the Collector Road CN8 (Asuquo Okon Way) from Arterial Road N5 (Obafemi Awolowo Way) to Arterial Road N1 (Olusegun Obasanjo Way), all nearing completion.

Responding to questions on the absence of streetlights on the OSEX II to Wasa road, Wike clarified that the project was initiated by a previous administration over a decade ago.

However, in line with President Tinubu’s commitment to continuity, the current administration, Wike said, is dedicated to its completion.

The minister confirmed that a quotation for streetlights has been submitted by CGC, and while they may not be part of the upcoming inauguration, installation will proceed subsequently, to enhance security in the area.

“Be rest assured that we are going to put streetlights on that OSEX II, Apo to Wasa,” he affirmed.

He reiterated the commitment of the FCT Administration to providing the best for Abuja residents, and urged residents to also fulfill their civic obligations to support the ongoing development.

Wike said; “The people of Abuja deserve the best and the contractors are doing their best, I can assure you that. For me, there cannot be anything less. All we are saying is for the residents also to perform their own obligation so that we will all work together for the interest of Abuja and the entire Nigerians”.

Addressing the protracted strike by primary school teachers in the FCT over the non-payment of the new minimum wage, Wike expressed deep concern, equating the denial of education to “trying to cause a coup in the country or in the FCT”.

He assured the public that all the issues will soon be resolved, saying, “everything is being done to see that the teachers go back to school”.

The Minister also spoke on the roles of the National Assembly Committees on FCT Area Councils regarding the matter, urging them to focus on their primary responsibilities, particularly regarding the Area Councils, to help resolve the strike.

Wike said: “Nobody can feel happy that primary school teachers are at home. It’s a basic thing that we must do and I can assure you, very soon, that matter will be resolved”.

Tinubu: Over 4,000 women received free C-sections, 1,000 PHCs revitalised in two years

Over 4,000 women have benefited from free caesarean sections, and 1,000 primary healthcare centres (PHCs) have been revitalised across Nigeria within President Bola Tinubu’s first two years in office.

The President made these disclosures during a national broadcast on Thursday, commemorating his second anniversary in office.

Elected on May 29, 2023, President Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering people-oriented policies under the Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at expanding access to quality healthcare, especially for underserved populations.

According to Tinubu, one of the central pillars of his health agenda has been the rehabilitation and upgrading of primary healthcare facilities nationwide.

He stated that 1,000 PHCs have already been revitalised, offering improved healthcare services in both urban and rural areas.

“In addition to the 1,000 PHCs already revitalised, we are currently upgrading another 5,500 centres across the country. These include infrastructural improvements and the provision of modern medical equipment to ensure they can deliver efficient and effective care,” the President said.

He emphasised that the Renewed Hope Health Agenda was not merely a policy framework but a practical, people-driven intervention targeting grassroots healthcare delivery.

Tinubu also disclosed that his administration is establishing six new cancer treatment centres across the country to address the increasing burden of non-communicable diseases. Out of these, three have already been completed and are ready for operation.

“Our cancer centres will enhance early detection, diagnosis, and treatment, giving Nigerians better chances of survival and improving quality of life,” he stated.

Furthermore, he revealed that free dialysis services are now being provided at selected tertiary hospitals as part of the Federal Government’s renal care initiative. In addition, a subsidy programme has been launched to make dialysis more affordable for patients in other facilities.

“Dialysis should not bankrupt families. It is our duty to ensure that patients receive lifesaving care without facing financial ruin. That is why we now provide free dialysis in pilot centres and subsidise it elsewhere,” the President added.

In a bid to reduce maternal mortality rates, Tinubu announced that over 4,000 women have undergone caesarean sections free of charge under the Presidential Initiative on Maternal Health.

“Every woman deserves the opportunity to give birth safely, and every child deserves a fighting chance at life. Through this initiative, we are making that a reality for thousands of families,” he declared.

He described the programme as a practical expression of his administration’s resolve to safeguard the lives of women and children, especially in public hospitals.

President Tinubu also pointed to a significant increase in national health insurance coverage, with the number of insured Nigerians growing from 16 million to 20 million in just two years.

“This expansion in health insurance is critical for achieving universal health coverage. It protects families from catastrophic health spending and ensures access to essential services,” he said.

Addressing the issue of health worker shortages in rural areas, Tinubu said his government had begun deploying skilled medical personnel to underserved regions to bridge gaps in human resources for health.

“Access to healthcare must not depend on where you live or how much you earn. We are sending qualified professionals to the frontlines where they are needed most,” he noted.

In tandem with these efforts, the President highlighted investments in public health surveillance and early warning systems to enhance the country’s preparedness for outbreaks and health emergencies.

“In a world still reeling from the impact of COVID-19, we must stay ahead. Our public health infrastructure is being upgraded to detect and respond to threats swiftly and effectively,” he said.

Tinubu stated that targeted social investment programmes had been rolled out to assist vulnerable Nigerians, ensuring they have access to basic healthcare and nutrition. These initiatives, he noted, are designed to prevent the poorest citizens from being excluded from the drive toward universal health coverage.

“We are building a healthcare system that works for everyone, especially the most disadvantaged. No Nigerian should be left behind,” he said.

On the broader economic landscape, Tinubu linked the country’s recent economic recovery to strategic reforms across various sectors, including health. He noted that Nigeria’s real GDP grew by 4.6% in Q4 2024, with an overall annual growth rate of 3.4% — the highest in nearly ten years.

“A healthy population is the bedrock of a strong economy. By investing in the health of our people, we are laying the foundation for sustained economic growth,” Tinubu concluded.

As he marked two years in office, President Tinubu reiterated his commitment to building a resilient, inclusive, and people-centred healthcare system that delivers tangible benefits to all Nigerians.

Tinubu has shown exemplary leadership, says PAP boss

The Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), Dr Dennis Otuaro, has said that President Bola Tinubu has shown exemplary leadership within his second year in office.

Otuaro said in the past two years, the president demonstrated striking leadership and worked assiduously to strengthen unity and peaceful co-existence, deepen good governance culture and enrich democratic practice in the country.

He said the president also provided clear direction for his policies and programmes anchored on his Renewed Hope Agenda for the country’s progress and development, and the shared prosperity of citizens.

Otuaro, in a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media, Igoniko Oduma, commended the president for displaying uncommon courage in confronting the economic challenges that were pulling the country backwards and stagnating its socio-economic growth and infrastructural development.

He observed that Tinubu’s bold decisions and well-thought-out reforms had brought about national rebirth and also yielded positive results in the various sectors of the economy.

Otuaro also lauded the President on the security front, stressing that his dynamic approach to tackling the challenge of insecurity in some parts of the country.

He further noted that the Niger Delta had recorded remarkable progress in the last two years as the President’s administration was vigorously addressing the region’s developmental challenges.

He said the newly established South South Development Commission had further confirmed Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to spreading development and encouraging community participation in the country’s development process.

Otuaro said the PAP was enjoying huge support from Tinubu, and this had been responsible for the effective implementation of the programme’s mandate and the outstanding achievements the agency had recorded.

He appealed to the people of the Niger Delta and indeed Nigerians to continually support Tinubu and key into his administration’s policies and programmes designed to redirect the country on the path of economic recovery and socio-political advancement.

NTAC DG rallies support for Tinubu’s leadership, economic reforms

The Director General of the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC), Rt. Hon. Yusuf Buba Yakub, has commended President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, describing it as a transformational and reformative shift in governance, economic management, and national cohesion, as the President marks his second anniversary in office.

This is as the DG also urged Nigerian parents to support the President by fully embracing and taking advantage of his initiatives aimed at protecting and empowering Nigerian children.

The DG, in a statement issued Thursday in Abuja by Nkem Anyata-Lafia, his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, praised President Tinubu’s administration for stabilising the country’s economy, tackling pressing national challenges, and restoring confidence among citizens and the international community.

He said the administration’s first two years have set Nigeria on a renewed path of self-redemption and hopeful national rebirth.

“President Tinubu inherited a nation grappling with economic fragility, insecurity, and dwindling public trust. But under his watch, Nigeria has begun repaying debts, rebuilding external reserves, and implementing bold reforms that have restored hope in our collective future,” Yakub noted.

He commended the administration’s fiscal policies, which he said have demonstrated sound judgment and strategic execution.

According to him, Tinubu’s handling of economic recovery efforts amid global headwinds and internal pressures signals capable and courageous leadership.

“Many Nigerians, despite the temporary pains of reform, are beginning to appreciate how far we’ve come from the brink.

“This couldn’t have happened by accident, it is the result of calculated, people-centred policies,” the DG added.

Beyond economic reforms, Buba applauded Tinubu’s attention to insecurity, commodity price stabilisation, and workers’ welfare, while commending the President’s diplomatic engagement, crediting him for restoring Nigeria’s standing on the global stage.

“The honour of our green passport has been largely restored, and that speaks volumes of how our image is being repositioned under this government,” the NTAC DG said.

Buba extended his congratulations to the President, praying for sustained wisdom, strength, and good health to continue steering the nation towards progress under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

In a related message commemorating the 2025 National Children’s Day, Buba called on Nigerian parents to take full advantage of President Tinubu’s initiatives aimed at protecting and empowering children.

Speaking on the theme ‘Stand Up, Speak Up: Building a Bully-Free Generation’, he emphasised the role of families, educators, and policymakers in fostering a safer, more nurturing environment for the next generation.

“Every society reaps what it sows. A bullied or neglected child may grow up to return that harm to society. We must be vigilant and proactive,” Buba warned.

He commended the Tinubu administration for placing high priority on child development and protection, citing the ongoing review of the Child Rights Act and the newly launched National Plan of Action on Ending Violence Against Children (2024–2030) as landmark policies.

“These frameworks are not just documents—they are roadmaps toward building a nation where every child feels safe, respected, and heard,” he said.

Buba also praised complementary initiatives in health, nutrition, and education, including the Nutrition 774 Programme and School Feeding Scheme, as strong pillars for the physical and intellectual growth of Nigerian children.

Expressing confidence in the leadership of President Tinubu and the First Lady’s Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), the NTAC DG emphasised that government efforts must be matched by community support to be truly effective.

“Government policies can only go so far. Their success ultimately depends on the vigilance, buy-in, and active participation of parents and communities across the country,” he noted.

2027: Tinubu far ahead of opponents – DOJ coordinator

The national coordinator of the Disciples of Jagaban (DOJ), a support group for President Bola Tinubu, Abdulhakeem Adegoke Alawuje, has declared that Tinubu is already significantly ahead of the opposition coalition in the race for Aso Rock ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Alawuje urged Nigerians to remain focused and not be swayed by the activities of the emerging coalition, accusing its leaders of creating political tension to mislead the public.

“As we approach the 2027 general elections, the political landscape is already heating up with uncertainty and misleading coalitions,” Alawuje said. “While we do not even know where the so-called coalition leaders are heading, one thing is clear: by the grace of Almighty God, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is running to return to Aso Rock.”

“We, the Disciples of Jagaban (DOJ), will not remain silent. Our silence would betray our responsibility to our children and the generations yet unborn. We speak out today because the future of Nigeria is at stake.

“Let it be known that those who parade themselves under new political coalitions are nothing more than recycled politicians among Nigerian people. If we, as a nation, make the mistake of supporting these opportunists again, we risk plunging Nigeria into another 20 years of suffering, frustration, and misfortune.

“This is a warning to the Nigerian masses, especially our energetic and vibrant youths: do not allow yourselves to be used as political tools by individuals with questionable pasts. Their records are public—check their antecedents. Ask yourselves: What did they do with the opportunities they once had?

“These are the same individuals now attempting to wear a new mask and form alliances against a man who has been consistent in his political vision and leadership.

“We must ask: Who are these coalition leaders? What is their true agenda? Are they forming alliances for national progress, or are they uniting against a man who beat them fairly at the polls in 2023?

“Some of us invited Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to lead this country. We did not expect him to use personal wealth to govern us; we were—and still are—ready to sacrifice for the betterment of Nigeria. The current gang-up against him is not for the interest of the Nigerian people—it is for selfish ambition.

“What exactly has President Tinubu done wrong? He contested fairly. He defeated both Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi. He nominated Mallam Nasir El-Rufai as a minister, but it was the National Assembly that declined his appointment—based on security concerns—not Tinubu’s failure.

“We strongly believe that with the help of God, Tinubu will again triumph in 2027.

“This is not just politics; this is a moral responsibility. We must educate the youth and enlighten the people. Nigeria cannot afford another costly mistake.

“We urge all Nigerians to dig into the past of these coalition leaders, look beyond propaganda, and make informed decisions. Let the truth guide us. Let patriotism lead us. Let history not repeat itself”, the statement said.
