CPC youth leaders urge support for Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid

The Forum of State Youth Leaders in the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), a key bloc in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has called on major stakeholders to rally behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and ensure his victory in the 2027 general elections.

At a meeting in Abuja on Sunday, the forum specifically urged the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, Governor Umar Bago of Niger State, Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State, National and State Assembly members, as well as local government elected officials with CPC backgrounds, to lend their support to President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima’s re-election bid.

In a statement jointly signed by the former Chairman of the Forum of State Youth Leaders and Kogi State Chairman, Prince Sani Ogu Salisu, and his Imo State counterpart, Prince Iyke Uwakwe, the group emphasised that this support is crucial for the APC’s success in the 2027 elections.

The youth leaders also called on stakeholders to join forces with the Al-Makura-led team to reposition and strengthen the party for the challenges ahead.

The statement reads: “The defunct CPC State Youth Leaders from the 6 geopolitical zones of the country met extensively in Abuja over the weekend to discuss the future of our great party and the nation.

“After thorough deliberation, we unanimously resolved to call on key stakeholders of the CPC bloc in the APC to support the Senator Al-Makura-led stakeholders’ discussions aimed at restructuring the APC.

“We urge the Hon. Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, Gov Umar Bago of Niger State, Gov Dikko Radda of Katsina State, National and State Assembly Members, as well as Local Government elective officers of CPC background to support the Tinubu/Shettima administration.”

This, the forum argued, would ensure continuity and progress in national development initiatives.

Calling for the promotion of internal democracy, the forum said cohesion and peaceful coexistence among party members are key to victory in 2027.

“We believe that collective action and support for the Al-Makura-led stakeholders’ discussions will strengthen our party and position us for greater electoral success.

“We urge all stakeholders to join hands with us to build a stronger APC and a brighter future for Nigeria, as the Youth Leaders were charged by the National Youth Leader of the legacy party, Hon. Abubakar Maikudi, to go back to their various states and mobilise support for APC in the forthcoming elections.”
