    Tokunbo Wahab, Toke Benson to grace Seun Oloketuyi’s book unveiling

    Lagos Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab and his couterpart Ministry of Arts and Culture, Toke Benson-Awoyinka will be leading dignitaries to the unveiling of ‘Making Movies the Nollywood Way,’ the latest work by filmmaker and Best of Nollywood Awards founder, Seun Oloketuyi.

    Set to attract several Lagos’ most respected figures on September 7, 2025, at the University of Lagos, the event will see the dignitaries signaling support for Oloketuyi’s literary effort and endorsement of Nollywood’s cultural and economic importance.

    Among the dignitaries confirmed for the event are Muiz Banire, SAN, Hon Moji Ojora Meranda, Abisoye Fagade, and Rt Hon Adeyemi Ikuforiji.

    ‘Making Movies the Nollywood Way,’ according to Oloketuyi, is a coffee-table style book that offers a deep dive into the workings of Nigeria’s film industry.

    The book, in the words of Oloketuyi, combines his reflections with the voices of 21 leading Nollywood figures, including pa Williams, Wale Adenuga, and Emem Isong, who share their professional experiences, triumphs, and challenges.

    Speaking on the forthcoming unveiling, Oloketuyi described the project as a labour of love aimed at educating, inspiring, and preserving the unique Nollywood filmmaking process. “This book is not just about film; it’s about telling our stories, our struggles, and our successes in a way that resonates with both practitioners and lovers of cinema,” he said.

    The Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts & Culture, Toke Benson-Awoyinka is embracing everything that has to do with tourism, arts and culture in the city of aquatic splendour.

    Since her appointment in 2023, Benson-Awoyinka has continued to make giant strides in her ministry. Recently, she was spotted with the Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa in faraway France, where they attended the 2025 edition of the Cannes Film Festival.

    Both government officials represented the interests of Lagos and Nigeria respectively by promoting the country’s film industry, culture and tourism potentials.

    Hence, it was no surprise when the commissioner stepped out to honour Adedoyin Dawuda Hafis when he staged an exhibition for the Doyin Alasooke brand recently.

    Adedoyin, who displayed the Asooke products from the brand, was excited to see the commissioner appearing in one of the brands while creating awareness for the brand.

    Adedoyin, who grew up in a family of Asooke artisans, was elated with the crop of individuals who attended the exhibition led by Barrister Benson-Awoyinka.

    Also in attendance was Omooba Kolade Roberts, the elderly socialite cum businessman, who is equally the Chief Executive Officer of APOI Investment Nigeria Limited.

    Omooba Roberts joined Benson-Awoyinka in lauding Adedoyin for the creative designs and worthy exhibition of new designs.

    The Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Toke Benson-Awoyinka, recently joined global creatives at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival in France.

    Benson-Awoyinka was spotted with Minister for Arts, Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Barrister Hannatu Musawa, celebrating the international premiere of ‘My Father’s Shadow,’ a groundbreaking Nigerian film that underscores the power of storytelling and cross-cultural collaboration.

    Directed by British-Nigerian filmmaker Akinola Davies Jr., ‘My Father’s Shadow’ made history as the first Nigerian-set fiction film to be selected for the prestigious Un Certain Regard section of the festival.

    Benson-Awoyinka’s presence at Cannes further attests to Lagos State’s unwavering commitment to nurturing the creative industries and promoting Nigerian talent on world-renowned platforms.

    Davies, alongside his brother and co-writer, Wale Davies, crafted a deeply resonant narrative exploring themes of family, fatherhood, nationhood, and identity, bridging experiences from both Nigeria and the UK.

    “This film is a testament to the power of collaboration. It’s ultimately about family, about nationhood, and about fatherhood. It means so much to our community back home in Nigeria, and across the continent, to be premiering at such a prestigious festival,” Davies shared.
