Milan begin hunt for red-hot Arokodare

Milan are reportedly  interested in striking a deal with Belgian side Genk for Nigeria international Tolu Arokodare as they continue their search for a new centre-forward on the summer transfer market.

The Rossoneri are seeking a new striker to compete and rotate with Santiago Gimenez, who joined in a €35m move from Feyenoord in January.

According to Football Italia,  Milan are looking for a physically strong and commanding striker, while Corriere dello Sport claimed  that they are looking for somebody similar in profile to former fan favourite Olivier Giroud.

Corriere dello Sport  further stated that Milan are interested in signing Arokodare, a 6’6 centre-forward who netted 23 goals and seven assists from 45 appearances across all competitions in the season just gone.

Another enticing detail for Milan is that the three-time Nigeria international is expected to be valued in the region of €20m-€25m, which fits in with the average spend on a new signing from the last summer transfer window.

The Rossoneri also have other targets in mind up front, including Arokodare’s international colleague Victor Boniface, however, the latter is expected to cost somewhere in the region of €40m-€45m.

    Genk demands N45b for Arokodare

Genk has reportedly placed a staggering €25 million (N45 billion in Nigerian currency) price tag on their star striker Tolu Arokodare, signaling their intent to capitalize on growing interest from top European clubs.

The Super Eagles forward has emerged as a prime target for AC Milan, while Premier League sides Fulham and Burnley have also inquired about his availability, according to Het Laatste Nieuws, via voetbalnieuws.

This hefty valuation could see Genk surpass their previous transfer record of €25 million, set when Sheffield United signed Sander Berge in 2020.

Genk’s summer transfer window has been relatively quiet, with only two signings—Daan Heymans and Tobias Lawal—bolstering the squad.

The club has prioritized retaining their core players, with manager Thorsten Fink emphasizing squad stability at the Cegeka Arena. However, exceptions were made for Arokodare and Zakaria El Ouahdi, who were granted permission to leave if lucrative offers materialized.

While El Ouahdi remains with the club, Arokodare’s potential departure is gaining significant traction.

AC Milan, still in search of a reliable striker to lead their attack, has reportedly initiated talks with Genk.

The Rossoneri view Arokodare as a dynamic option to bolster their frontline, but they face stiff competition from England. Fulham and Burnley’s interest has strengthened Genk’s negotiating position, allowing the Limburg-based club to demand a premium for their talisman.

“It’s quite possible that the club record will be broken,” a source close to the negotiations told HLN, underlining Genk’s ambition to maximize the transfer fee.

Arokodare’s rise to prominence has been meteoric. The 24-year-old’s physicality, goal-scoring prowess, and versatility have made him a standout in the Belgian Pro League, attracting scouts from across Europe.

His potential move to a club of AC Milan’s stature would mark a significant step in his career, while a transfer to the Premier League could see him compete in one of the world’s most prestigious leagues.

Italian giants, AC Milan, are  reportedly weighing up the possibility of  signing up Nigeria international striker Tolu Arokodare  once they are able to do away with Belgian forward, Divock Origi.

According to Football Italia, the Rossoneri need sales in order to fund the reinforcements required for a total revamp under new coach Max Allegri this summer.

Several moves are already done, with Tijjani Reijnders sold to Manchester City and Theo Hernandez all ready for Al-Hilal and Milan  are now desperate to get rid of   Origi, who arrived as a free agent from Liverpool in 2022.

Meanwhile, Tuttosport  has claimed that Milan are looking to bring in Genk striker Arokodare, a very tall and physically imposing 24-year-old.

OLD TRAFFORD CALLING: Arokodare linked with Manchester United

Genk and Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare is the latest player to be linked with Premier League giants Manchester United. According to English journalist Graeme Baily, Arokodare could well be a cheaper option to the many top strikers who have been linked to ‘The Red Devils’, Victor Osimhen, Viktor Gyokeres and Hugo Ekitike.

Several scouts have reportedly already travelled to Belgium to watch Arokodare in action. The Nigerian has also impressed them and has brought positive reports back to England.

Bailey claims that United will soon make an attempt if their top targets ultimately proved unachievable.

Arokodare can thus capitalize on his fine season in the Jupiler Pro League with Genk.

It has already earned him the Ebony Shoe and soon also a transfer. Head of Football Dimitri De Condé has already confirmed that agreements have been made with Arokodare and that Genk will cooperate on a transfer.

The Nigerian striker himself also seems to be interested in the move to United. In the past, he has repeatedly stated that it was a dream for him to play football in England and more specifically the Premier League.

Meanwhile, Galatasaray patience with Victor Osimhen is wearing thin with a top official of the Turkish champions now saying time is running out as they wait on the striker to decide on his next move.

Galatasaray Vice-President Abdullah Kavukcu said at a press conference they expect Osimhen to make a decision as soon as possible.

He said Galatasaray have spoken to Napoli on the striker’s transfer and have respected Osimhen’s plea to be given more time to decide.

“Osimhen must decide as soon as possible,” the top Galatasaray official said.

“He always ask us for time, we respect that, he has a family too, but then time runs out.

“We made a much higher offer than any European club and at the moment we are not negotiating with any other striker.

“We’re not thinking about plan B, we want Osimhen.”

He continued: “We have already spoken to Napoli. Our goal is to build a team that can compete with teams from over the world, not just in Turkey.

“We have to be patient. We are working day and night.”

  • Monaco favourite to grab  red-hot Arokodare

Monaco favourite to grab  red-hot Arokodare

Nigerian attacker, Tolu Arokodare has emerged as a serious option for AS Monaco who are looking for perfect player to replace injured Folarin Balogun, according to Foot Mercato.

With Balogun side-lined for months after undergoing surgery, Monaco coach Adi Hütter made it clear the team needs attacking reinforcements.

While the club initially leaned toward securing a loan signing, they’re now prioritizing a permanent solution — and Arokodare’s form for Belgian side Genk has made him an attractive alternative.

The 24-year-old striker has been in red-hot form in the Jupiler Pro League this season, tallying 13 goals and 5 assists in 20 matches. His imposing frame, aerial dominance, and ability to hold up play make him a natural fit for Monaco’s current needs.

Beyond his physical presence, Arokodare’s knack for scoring goals has drawn attention from several European clubs, but Monaco may be his next big step.

Monaco’s attack currently relies heavily on Breel Embolo and young George Ilenikhena, but neither has fully filled the scoring gap left by Balogun. Arokodare offers a different profile — a target man with a strong presence inside the box who can both finish chances and create space for others.

His experience in the Belgian league has shown his adaptability and progression as a striker. After previously featuring for Amiens in France’s Ligue 2, Arokodare has taken his game to the next level at Genk. He’s not just a finisher but also a player who contributes to build-up play and puts pressure on opposing defences.

While Danish forward Mika Biereth of Sturm Graz remains Monaco’s primary target, the deal could prove costly. Sturm Graz is reportedly demanding €20 million for Biereth, who has also impressed in the Austrian Bundesliga and Champions League. However, Monaco is hesitant to spend that much in the January window and is exploring more affordable alternatives.

Arokodare, who joined Genk in 2023, presents a more economical option. His current form, coupled with his familiarity with French football from his time at Amiens, makes him a logical fit for the Ligue 1 side.

For Arokodare, a move to Monaco would represent a significant career step. The Nigerian striker has consistently climbed the ranks in European football, starting with spells in Latvia and Sweden before making his mark in France and Belgium. A transfer to Monaco would offer him the chance to prove himself at a higher level and potentially compete in European competitions.
