    Veteran actor Chiwetalu Agu has paid a heartfelt tribute to his friend and colleague, Tom Njemanze, who passed away after a battle with prostate cancer.

    Agu described Njemanze as a source of inspiration in the industry and a rare gem, whose legacy will live on through his work and the memories they shared.

    He wished Njemanze eternal rest and prayed for strength for his loved ones to cope with the loss.

May your soul find eternal rest, and may God grant your families and loved ones the fortitude to bear their loss. Sleep well, Tom. God loves you more”.

    Actor Tom Njemanze dies after prostate cancer battle

    Veteran actor Tom Njemanze has passed away after a prolonged battle with prostate cancer.

    Announcing his death on Saturday, filmmaker Stanley Ontop said he died on Friday, leaving behind a legacy of iconic roles in Nollywood classics.

    “It’s another sad period as we just received news from Tom Njemanze’s family that he has succumbed to his ailment and passed on yesterday. May his soul RIP. It’s well. We tried to save him Buh God knows best. Nollywood lost another legend. Ije Uwa”, he wrote on Instagram.

    Njemanze rose to fame in the 1990s, starring in several films that have stood the test of time, including “Tokunboh,” “Pounds and Dollars,” “Atosa,” “Issakaba,” “Osuofia in London,” “Brain Box,” and “Igbotic Love,” among others.

    Before his passing, filmmaker Stanley Ontop shared a heartfelt video on Instagram, revealing Njemanze’s diagnosis and appeal for financial assistance for urgent surgery.

    Veteran actor Tom Njemanze has made a public appeal as he urgently seeks financial assistance to undergo surgery for prostate cancer.

    In a viral video on social media, Njemanze appealed for help, sharing his diagnosis and current hospitalisation.

    Film producer Stanley Ontop shared the video on Instagram, explaining that Njemanze requires support for his treatment and surgery, urging fans and well-wishers to contribute whatever they can.

    He said: “Hello guys, one of our Nollywood legends is sick and needs urgent surgery.

    “Sir Tom Njamanze has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, and he needs your support to undergo surgery. Nothing is too small, fams. Help our legend live again.”

    Njemanze is a renowned actor known for his memorable performances in several Nollywood classics, including “Issakaba,” “Tokunboh,” “Pounds and Dollars,” and “Osuofia in London.”

    This appeal comes just months after another veteran actor, John Amaefule, requested financial assistance for his battle with a partial stroke and cancer.

    Fans and colleagues have taken to social media to express support and pray for Njemanze’s recovery.
