Why Tompolo, Otuaro are under attacks, by Delta monarch

The Ovie of Idjerhe Kingdom and Chairman of Host Communities of Nigeria (HOSCON) Traditional Council, His Majesty Udurhie I, has raised concerns over recent media attacks targeting Dr. Dennis Otuaro, Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, and High Chief Government Ekpemupolo (Tompolo), Chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the monarch described the ongoing campaigns as deliberate efforts aimed at undermining the contributions of the two figures to national security and the protection of oil infrastructure.

He warned that such attacks could create room for increased pipeline vandalism and crude oil theft, urging stakeholders to remain vigilant against threats to the nation’s economic lifelines.

According to him, “The calculated media campaign against High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo .a.k.a Tompolo and his Tantita Security Nigeria Limited is nothing but employing blackmail strategy to disorganised the operations of the Security Company so that they can return to their evil businesses of crude theft and pipelines vandalism.

“The same group of evil minded campaigners are also out against Dr Dennis Otuaro, Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) for ensuring that the right things are done to reposition the Amnesty Programme.

“Critical Niger Deltans stakeholders and other patriotic Nigerians must speak out if our national interest is indeed more important than those of few elements who have lived all their lives in Pipeline vandalism and crude theft business in the Niger Delta.

“The repositioning ongoing in the Presidential Amnesty Programme is not only visible, but is indeed transformative for even the blind to see.

“The federal government under the leadership of HE President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should not cave in to these well designed orchestrated campaigns as doing so will be returning the Niger Delta region into the dark era of Pipeline Vandalism and coordinated crude theft.
“The federal government has its evaluation procedure to know if the affected Government appointee and the Pipeline Security Company is living up to its assigned duties and nobody has appointed these agents of darkness as monitoring authorities.

“Their plans which are well noted include blackmail against Tompolo and Otuaro before the federal government so that they return back to their illicit business.

“As a critical stakeholder in the Niger Delta Programme, I am very convinced that the federal government and the appointing and supervising agencies are comfortable with the high level achievements of Tantita Security Services Limited in many areas.

“From the restoration of habitable environments to the return of aquatic lives, from clean water bodies to environmental restoration. Any plots to instigate the federal government and its agents against Tompolo and his Tantita Security company will surely be an evil wind that will blow no good to anybody.
“Rather than castigate Tompolo and Otuaro, they should be commended, because we were living witnesses to the sorry state of our economy and environment before the advent of Tantita Security Services Limited.”

2027: Tompolo endorses President Tinubu for second term

High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, has called for President Bola Tinubu to be allowed to complete two constitutional terms in office.

Speaking during an interview on Arise Television, the Ibe-Ebidouwei of Ijaw Nation and Grand Patron of the PBAT Door-2-Door Movement 2027, described Tinubu as a seasoned leader with the experience to elevate Nigeria to greater heights.

“Tinubu is a good person. He has the experience to do everything and carry this country to a higher level,” Tompolo stated.

He emphasised that Tinubu’s four-year mandate, with the possibility of re-election for another four years, should be respected, drawing a comparison to former President Muhammadu Buhari’s eight-year tenure.

“We don’t want anybody to cause problems. He should be allowed to complete his two constitutional terms, then we will vote for another person to take over in 2031,” he added.

Tompolo revealed plans to embark on a nationwide campaign, including visits to northern states, to garner support for Tinubu’s second term. “We will do our part, even go out of our boundary to the northern part of Nigeria to talk to our brothers and compatriots so that he will get a second tenure,” he said.

He also noted that traditional rulers across the region have endorsed Tinubu’s re-election bid, expressing confidence that widespread support will ensure the president’s continued leadership.

Addressing concerns about potential unrest, Tompolo dismissed claims of any group having a “monopoly of violence,” urging all Nigerians to support Tinubu’s administration. “We are appealing to everybody, and by the grace of God, everybody will support us,” he said.

    Rivers State Political Crisis

Commenting on the political situation in Rivers State, Tompolo expressed optimism about the resolution of the ongoing rift between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.

Describing their relationship as that of “boy and Oga,” he predicted that the issues would soon be resolved. “The duly elected governor of Rivers State is coming back,” he asserted, signalling Fubara’s return to office.

Tompolo disclosed that he would soon travel to Abuja to meet with President Tinubu and Wike to address the lingering issues in Rivers State. “Our president is someone who has been protecting democracy for a very long time. There is no way he will truncate it,” he said, underscoring Tinubu’s commitment to democratic principles.

  • Rivers, clash of protests and Tompolo

Rivers, clash of protests and Tompolo

Rivers State was last week preoccupied with a clash of organised women protests for and against the proclamation of a state of emergency. First to gather were the anti-emergency protesters who, two Fridays ago, sallied out almost from nowhere into the streets of Ahoada East local government area decrying the proclamation of a state of emergency in the state, and calling for the restoration of democracy. They were estimated to be about a few hundreds, and were clad in black. Piqued by the silence of the group of protesters when the fierce battle for the soul of the state raged between the Governor Siminalayi Fubara crowd and the ex-governor Nyesom Wike troops before state of emergency, a second but unrelated group of protesters poured into the streets of Port Harcourt on Monday in a startlingly far greater number. The second group decried the hypocrisy of the first group, and enthused that the state of emergency proclamation secured peace when all portents showed that anarchy was imminent. From the tone of the second group, and the tenor of their dressing, it was clear that peace, much more than the merits or demerits of the state of emergency proclamation itself, was uppermost in their minds.

But not to be outdone, and unwilling to concede both the last laugh and slogan to the pro-emergency ‘peace’ protesters who rallied under the banner of Rivers Women for Peace and Good Governance, the anti-emergency protesters again rallied pari passu with the pro-emergency group in a different part of Port Harcourt under the aegis of Rivers Women Unite Prayer Group. However, noting the disparity in law enforcement control of the protests, Mr Fubara openly chafed at the unfairness of the police in allegedly repressing the anti-emergency crowd. He should have kept quiet. Unable to restrain himself, it was interpreted that he was lending support to the anti-emergency protesters, a trait he earlier exhibited when he failed to condemn pipeline vandals presumably trying to preempt the House of Assembly from impeaching him in the heat of the crisis in early March.

Proclaimed on March 18, the state of emergency in Rivers is expected to last six months. During the period, it is expected that tempers would cool down between warring factions, the governor would be more statesmanlike, the House of Assembly less combative, and the state’s elders more diplomatic and conciliating. While most members of the elders group have sensibly kept quiet, and the lawmakers have distanced themselves from state activities, Mr Fubara has kept on talking. Before the state of emergency, he had acted and given the impression that he could browbeat both his enemies in and outside the legislature as well as the federal government into backing down from their intransigent positions. After the Supreme Court put paid to his effort to continue ostracising the Assembly, gave him a piece of their minds, and ordered that he should relate properly with the House of Assembly, he embarked on subterranean moves to undermine the judgement by feigning obedience to the rule of law. He was adamant about the justification of his cause, and was determined not to have his enemies laugh last.

That headiness has unfortunately continued. There is nothing, short of plotting a coup, that can unmake or reverse the state of emergency. Even if the country were to descend into anarchy, the state of emergency would still not be reversed. If Mr Fubara had this understanding, he would have declined to give support to any protests in his favour, restrained himself from commenting on state activities, whether by the sole administrator or any other caretaker officials, and shrugged off accusations about any financial malfeasance. If he must speak, it would be wise to talk about peace, support the sole administrator to reestablish law and order, and invite stakeholders and aggrieved indigenes to work for the peace, unity and progress of the state, even if he does not mean a word of what he says. Rather than secretly harbouring the unrealistic desire to upturn the emergency proclamation, his paramount goal should be to ensure that the state of emergency does not exceed the six months proclaimed by the president. He may not be the wisest governor to find himself in a similar position, but he needs to read the emergency proclamation again, especially the part that talks about the ‘six months in the first instance’ provision. If the crisis continues, if the swords are not sheathed in six months, if the combatants are still squaring off and warring recklessly, and if there are still threats to critical national infrastructure, the emergency period might be extended. And like all sides to the conflict in Rivers say, heavens will not fall.

Mr Fubara’s goal must, therefore, be to ensure that the six months emergency rule should not be extended. The ball is in his court; but so far he has proved quite awkward in kicking the ball. He doesn’t even appreciate the gravity of his situation, and lacks the acumen to conciliate his enemies. He talks glibly about democracy, but he has undermined it at every turn and by every remark. Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, the pipeline protection contractor and notable Ijaw son, has said that Mr Fubara would return to office after the six months of emergency. It is not clear what gave him the confidence to make that pronouncement, but he should instead counsel his kinsman to mollify his rage and resentment against real and perceived enemies. The governor’s return is not in the hands of well-wishers, or the constitution, or animated protesters, or even the rule of law. His predicament rests on his absolute ineptitude in managing dissent and provocations. Only he can determine how the Rivers crisis would play out. Only he. And so far, he has not given anyone the confidence that he can make the difference the Rivers situation desperately urges him.

HURIWA applauds Tompolo’s, Otuaro’s efforts in securing Niger Delta

The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has condemned recent baseless allegations targeting High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, and Dr. Dennis Otuaro, Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP).

A statement released by HURIWA described the accusations as malicious fabrications orchestrated by criminal elements threatened by the duo’s success in combating oil theft and fostering peace in the Niger Delta.

The National Coordinator, HURIWA Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko said: “Under the leadership of Tompolo, Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL) has been at the forefront of combating crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism in the Niger Delta. Since its engagement by the Federal Government in August 2022, Tantita has recorded remarkable achievements

According to HURIWA, Tantita uncovered 3,963 incidents related to oil theft, including 702 illegal connection points, 971 theft cases, and 1,784 illegal refineries.

Furthermore, the company dismantled 3,063 illegal facilities and apprehended numerous assets linked to these criminal activities.

These concerted efforts have led to a reported 79% reduction in crude oil losses, underscoring Tantita’s effectiveness in safeguarding Nigeria’s oil production.

HURIWA emphasized that Tantita’s operations not only curbed economic sabotage but also fostered a sense of security among local communities.

The company’s collaboration with government and security agencies—such as the Nigerian Army, Navy, Police, Civil Defence, and the Department of State Services—has been pivotal in securing oil installations and improving regional safety.

This synergy, HURIWA added, has enhanced intelligence gathering and operational efficiency, leading to more coordinated and successful interventions against oil theft.

Additionally, the association highlighted Tantita’s use of advanced technology, including drones, sensors, and satellite imagery, for real-time monitoring of oil installations.

This technological edge has significantly improved detection and deterrence of illegal activities, ensuring that perpetrators are constantly under surveillance.

Regarding the Presidential Amnesty Programme, HURIWA commended Dr. Dennis Otuaro’s leadership, noting that his administration transformed the PAP from a stipend-based scheme into a comprehensive empowerment programme.

Through proactive stakeholder engagement, conflict resolution, and meaningful empowerment initiatives, Otuaro has turned numerous ex-agitators into responsible, productive citizens contributing to national development.

HURIWA further noted that under Otuaro’s leadership, the PAP has focused on strengthening institutional capacity to ensure long-term effectiveness.

Initiatives such as staff reorientation workshops have fostered teamwork and improved service delivery, ensuring the programme continues to meet its objectives of peacebuilding and reintegration.

The association emphasized that the recent media attacks against Tompolo and Otuaro are desperate attempts by disgruntled elements to derail the progress made in securing the Niger Delta. HURIWA called on security agencies to investigate and expose the sources of these malicious campaigns, urging the public to disregard the unfounded allegations.

The association also lauded the Federal Government’s continued support and collaboration with Tantita Security Services, acknowledging that such partnerships have been instrumental in achieving significant successes in the fight against oil theft.

“The strides made by Tantita Security Services and the Presidential Amnesty Programme under the leadership of Tompolo and Dr. Dennis Otuaro have been pivotal in reducing oil theft and promoting peace in the Niger Delta. HURIWA stands firmly in solidarity with these leaders, recognizing their unwavering commitment to regional stability and national development,” the association stated.

HURIWA reiterated its call for collective efforts to sustain and build upon the gains achieved, emphasizing the importance of supporting individuals and organizations working in the national interest.

Group reiterates Tompolo’s, Otuaro’s commitment to N’Delta development

A group, Niger-Delta Renaissance Network, has reiterated the commitment of Government Tompolo, CEO of Tantita Security Company, and Dennis Otuaro, Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, to protecting Nigeria’s oil pipelines and dedication to developing initiatives that enhance the lives of ex-agitators.

The group disassociated Tompolo and Otuaro from the baseless accusations in a viral video, noting that these allegations are not only unfounded but are also a calculated attempt to tarnish their reputations

The spokesman Gabriel Aniete said: “It is evident that the individual behind these accusations is being sponsored by oil bunkers and thieves in the Niger Delta who aim to undermine the integrity of Tompolo, Dennis, and others.

“Since being contracted to provide security services around the nation’s oil pipelines, Tantita Security Company has successfully apprehended countless oil bunkers and crude oil thieves, significantly improving oil production and ensuring that Nigeria meets its OPEC quota.

“Furthermore, under Dennis Otuaro’s leadership of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, the Niger Delta has witnessed a period of relative peace. The programme has played a significant role in training and retraining numerous ex-agitators, transforming them into responsible citizens who actively contribute to national development.

“The recent media attacks and character assassination of Tompolo, Dennis Otuaro, and others come as no surprise. Their effective management of oil pipelines and the Presidential Amnesty Programme has drawn envy from forces who previously benefited from oil bunkering activities and fraudulent schemes within the amnesty programme.

“We call on those sponsoring these character assassinations to desist immediately. It is imperative to reemphasize the commitment of Tompolo and Tantita to protecting Nigeria’s oil pipelines, as well as Dennis Otuaro’s dedication to developing initiatives that enhance the lives of ex-agitators.”
