Tonto Dikeh: ‘Chain of shame’ couldn’t stop my love for Jesus

Renowned actress Tonto Dikeh has continued to share her testimony of a profound spiritual journey, describing a life-altering experience rooted in unconditional love for Jesus Christ.

Dikeh revealed that she had long battled an invisible chain of shame, doubt and fear, which hindered her from openly expressing her faith.

According to the actress, the turning point came after her encounter with the New Season Prophetic Prayers and Declarations (NSPPD), an experience she said brought about a remarkable transformation in her life.

She wrote, “This is not merely a memory; it is the luminescent zenith of my forty-year spiritual pilgrimage. It stands as my Bravest, most Proudest Moment Ever, a profound, soul-deep declaration of victory.

“For decades, an invisible chain. forged of shame, doubt, and conditioned fear held my heart in check, preventing the full, radiant expression of my faith. I yearned to love Jesus, but I could not, on my own strength, shatter that self-imposed barrier.

“Then, the divine current of NSPPD (New Season Prophetic Prayers and Declarations) flowed into my life. It was a catalyst of spiritual fire, a sanctuary of pure, unadulterated passion. In that collective, vibrating energy, the Spirit breathed a new reality into my being. What NSPPD gifted me was not a teaching, but a transmutation. It was the grace to finally, gloriously, and irrevocably love Jesus Christ unconditionally, without reserve, and without a shred of shame. It was the moment my spirit found its true, courageous voice.

“My love, once a hesitant whisper, burst forth as a roaring anthem of devotion, a passionate, fervent, and deeply intelligent love that acknowledges His sovereignty, embraces His sacrifice, and finds its ultimate, most loving expression in surrender.

“This is the ultimate freedom: to stand fully in the light of Christ, knowing that His love is my worth, and my reciprocating love is now an unstoppable, eternal tide. EVERYONE WITNESS GRACE..”

I started smoking at 13, battled addiction for 27 years – Tonto Dikeh

Actress and politician Tonto Dikeh has opened up on how she was freed from decades-long struggles with smoking, alcohol addiction, masturbation, and explosive anger during her testimony at Streams of Joy International Church.

The 40-year-old star spoke during a service led by Pastor Jerry Eze, founder of the widely followed New Season Prophetic Prayers and Declarations (NSPPD) ministry.

Dikeh told the congregation that she started smoking at age 13, a habit that persisted for 27 years after being exposed to it in her home environment.

She issued a strong warning to parents, noting that even small habits can profoundly influence children.

She said, “I started smoking because my dad was a smoker. Something as little as that habit can inhabit the lives of your children. My body does not ask for it. My body is repelling it. Today, it is broken.”

She went on to describe battles with alcohol, chronic masturbation, recurring s3xual dreams she attributed to spiritual oppression since childhood, and what she called demonic anger that damaged her relationships and life.

She said, “I smoked since I was 13. God healed me from m@sturbation, too. I have known myself to have sexual intercourse in the dream ever since I was a child.

“I struggled with demonic anger, an anger that destroyed my life. Everybody had to feel it. But praying with NSPPD, God took all of those away and gave me peace”.

Dikeh confessed that this anger destroyed much of her life and affected everyone around her, but through consistent prayer with NSPPD, God removed it and replaced it with peace.

She pinpointed a major breakthrough after attending the NSPPD Ghana Prayer Conference, where she said the oppressive force that had plagued her dreams finally fled.

She added: “I realised that the weak man who held me captive all my years in my dream ran away.”

At 40, she declared she is experiencing genuine peace for the first time, adding that her body no longer craves cigarettes and actively repels them.

“I am 40 years old, and I can tell you I have never known peace until now. I am living in it”, she added.

The actress admitted she nearly withheld her story out of concern for her public image but ultimately chose transparency to honor God, rejecting the notion of protecting an image that God Himself granted.

“The devil tried to tell me that I was supposed to protect my image. But I told myself, what image? The God that gave me the image is the same God that can take it away”, she concluded.

In a post on Instagram, Dikeh acknowledged that healing is a painful and messy journey that forces us to confront our deepest wounds.

However, she emphasised that staying broken is a far worse fate, as unresolved pain can seep into every aspect of our lives and drain our joy.

Dikeh encouraged followers to face their pain head-on, trusting in God’s plan and timing.

She wrote: “Be brave enough to heal, even when the healing feels like a war within. Healing isn’t easy, it’s messy, painful, and uncomfortable. Restoration is rarely gentle,It exposes wounds we tried to bury and asks us to confront what once broke us. But staying broken is far worse.

“Pain doesn’t go away when ignored. It seeps into everything, draining your joy, and leaving you stuck in survival mode. Healing means facing that pain, letting yourself feel, and choosing to grow through it. (Psalm 147:3). Healing is God’s invitation to trust Him with the places we tried to fix alone.

“You don’t need to understand every step. All Heaven asks is that you keep moving. Keep believing. Keep showing up for the future God has prepared. You are worth the miracle that is coming.

“One day, you will look back with holy awe, realizing the fire was temporary, but the strength forged in it became eternal. What was meant to break you will become the testimony that sets others free.

“STAYING BROKEN WAS NEVER AN OPTION. You were always meant to heal
You were chosen to heal. You were Anointed to rise”.

“Stop shrinking to fit places you’ve outgrown or trying to water yourself down so you’re easier to swallow. The more you try to please everyone, the more you lose the magic that makes you you.

“The truth is, the right people will connect with your realness. The right clients will find your brand. The right audience will feel your message.

“So keep showing up as your full, bold, unapologetic self. You are not for everyone, and that’s exactly what makes you unforgettable”.
