    Waje, Toolz, Desmond Elliot, others call for investment in health sector

    AS the federal government prepares to finalise its 2017 budget, top Nigerian celebrities have come together urging the government to invest in health sector as stipulated in the National Health Act (2014) and keep its commitment to the 2001 African Union’s Abuja Commitment.

    Speaking at a media parley, Singer, Waje expressed disappointment in little commitment shown by the government towards the health sector, she said,

    “As a proud and patriotic Nigerian, it is particularly distressing to me that our country is suffering from a silent  killer – this health crisis which is completely avoidable,” Waje said.

    “It is time to act Naija! We must come together with a collective voice, and tell our government to do more by investing in the health of our children and families, by doing so, we will make Naija stronger.”

     A video, “I AM IN …to make Naija Stronger” with an all-star cast including YemiAlade, Desmond Elliot, Kate Henshaw, Ali Nuhu, Basketmouth and Toolz, was launched.

    Also speaking, Kannywood actor Ali Nuhu, said “Enough is enough! This is the message we are sending to our   government. A healthy Nigeria makes a wealthy Nigeria and we need to stand together to Make Naija Stronger. Now it’s your turn, if you haven’t added your voice to better our nation’s health system, you need to do so right now.”

    Yemi Alade made a call to the grassroots saying: “Make all of una join una voice to tell our government say make dem put correct money for our health matter so that all the pikin and mama weydey die unnecessarily for Naija go stop.”

    NachilalaNkombo, Deputy Director of ONE Africa said: “While other African countries are improving their health indicators, inconsistent and insufficient health funding in Nigeria over the years has made access to basic life-saving health services a luxury for ordinary Nigerians.”

    Fifteen years ago all African governments made a commitment in Abuja to increase health spending to 15% of their national budgets but this condition has not been fulfilled by Nigerian policymakers.

    Popular OAP, Tolu Oniru, also known as Toolz quit the single ladies club on Saturday 28 April at a classy white wedding ceremony held in Dubai. The Beat FM Nigeria OAP who is the daughter of Oba Oniru tied the knot with her long time beau; Tunde Demurin, the pilot son of former Nigeria Civil Aviation Agency Director General; Harold Demurin. The couple has joined the elite league of Nigerian celebrities who chose to have their weddings in Dubai. The likes of Tuface Idibia’s wedding to Annie, and Tiwa Savage’s wedding to her now estranged spouse; Tbillz set the trend of Dubai destination weddings in the Nigerian entertainment industry.

    Tagged T squared 2016, the event commenced with a pre-wedding dinner the evening before with quite a number of the OAP bride’s colleagues in the industry making appearances, the likes of Gbemi Olateru- Olagbegi, and Princess Dolapo Sijuade  were on hand to honour the vivacious and sexy diva. The entertainment industry also had in attendance the likes of Banky W who was the groomsman, Tiwa Savage, Rita Dominic, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, celebrity blogger; Noble Igwe and his partner Chioma Otisi amongst others.

    The ecstatic bride looked the princess she is from the sparkling crystal tiara perched atop her head, to  her white silk, lace and chiffon dress inlaid with gemstones, it also had a lovely full flare train that was several feet long, her all white ensemble was set off by her statement earrings and bracelet. The dress was made by Ezra Couture and makeup was done by Bimpe Onakoya. The groom looked resplendent in a white tuxedo and shirt atop black dress pants, bow tie, black pocket square, and red rose in his lapel.

    Bovi shared a pre-wedding photo of Toolz and Captain Tunde Demuren with the meme caption “don’t worry honey. You will make the money back” on Monday.

    The meme has since then generated over 3, 000 likes and 124 comments.

    Following the traditional wedding of curvy on-air-personality Tolu Oniru with her pilot husband, Captain Tunde Demuren, at the weekend, those men who have had long drooling can now rest.

    However, Tolu, who is popularly known as Toolz, revealed on her Instagram page how their romance started. According to her, it all began from a tweet.

    Posting a munched tweet dated 29/12/2001 from her husband, it reads; ‘I have a tweetcrush!!!Cc@toolzo’, she implored on the uncertainty of knowing God’s plans.

    “Where it all began” she stated in what also ended as an appreciation to guests at her wedding.

    “You never know what God has in store for you!

    Many thanks to everyone that came through to show us love yesterday. May God bless you and yours! Amen.”

    In what was a carnival-like ceremony which included the who-is-who in the entertainment industry as well royal fathers like the Alaafin of Oyo and the Ooni of Ife, the couple, in Lagos, celebrated their traditional wedding on Saturday. The wedding was tagged TSquared2016.

    The event which took place at Oniru, Lagos, was a colourful affair. While the male celebs who acted as the groomsmen were decked in brown agbada attire, the females who were Toolz’s bridesmaids were dressed in orange gowns.

    Some of the celebrities who graced the wedding are Don Jazzy, Tiwa Savage, D’Banj, Toke Makinwa, Korede Bello, Rita Dominic, Emma Nyra, Dolapo Oni, Esther Akerele and Franklin Ubi.

    Others are Skales, Lilian Esoro Franklin, Banky W, Wizkid, Omowunmi Akinnifesi, Waje, Kate Henshaw and Chidinma.

    WHILE others were yet to come to grips with the result of the keenly contested presidential and national assembly elections, OAP Tolu Oniru appears to have not only embraced this outcome, but also expressed enthusiasm towards the new ‘change’.

    “I woke up today feeling incredibly positive about my country! Sadly, I can’t remember the last time I felt so positive about Nigeria. Looking forward to the new dawn. A huge congratulations to our new president, General Muhammadu Buhari, and much respect to the incumbent Goodluck Jonathan for conceding and doing his best to make for a peaceful transition.

    POPULAR on-air-personality, Tolu Oniru, aka Toolz, is not happy with the way people living with the genetic disorder, albinism, are being treated in Africa. The OAP made this known when she posted her repulsion on Instagram on Thursday.

    “Disgusting that this still happens… #Repost from @mordiofficial Most of the myths surrounding albinos stem from OCA1(Extreme Albinism) individuals, and are based on superstition and come mainly from African countries. These myths include: Albinism is the result of a curse, raping an albino woman will cure a man of AIDS (this myth is most prevalent in Zimbabwe), albinos can read the future, albinism is contagious and of course albino body parts are useful talismans in black magic. Really? All less than true #Fiction they are all INVENTED LIES! #EducateYourIgnorance #Albinochild #Albinismawareness #AfricaMyAfrica #LoveAndProtect,” she posted.

    Toolz is the host of The Midday Show on The Beat 99.9 FM every weekday. She also interviews African entertainers on her talk show, The Juice. Some of those who have been interviewd by the OAP include the likes of Yvonne Nelson, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, Davido and Rita Dominic. She was part of the judges at the 2011 and 2012 Channel O Music Video Awards. Toolz is also the host of X Factor West Africa.

    Vector tha Viper features Toolz in new single

    LESS than a week after the release of his song, Redefined, Nigerian rapper, Vector tha Viper, is out with another song titled Shiga, featuring popular on-air personality, Toolz. The song has been described as rich with strong vocals by Waje. According to the artiste, Shiga is a bonus track off the mix tape titled #A7 Project, which has a track list of 13 songs.

    “Shiga is a song dedicated to ladies because it centres on the beauty of a woman. Featuring Toolz and Waje in this song is my way of appreciating the beautiful African women,” said Vector.

    The Afro-dance song is produced by Ekelly and released under a new management, Gidi Groove Media.

    Born Olanrewaju Ogunmefun, Vector tha Viper is an award-winning Nigerian Hip hop artiste who has released two studio albums. His debut album titled State of Surprise (SOS) was followed by a sophomore effort, The Second Coming. He won Lyricist on the Roll and Best Rap Single at the 2012 Headies and Best Rap Act at the 2012 Nigeria Entertainment Awards (NEA), among others. He is the voice behind the Sprite commercial that has aired on most radio stations across Nigeria since 2009.
