Torino FC officials say they are interested in retaining a sizeable number of the Act Sports Academy team that are currently in Torino, Italy for a series of expository games arranged as part of their partnership contract with the Act Sports Di Oyibo Limited–the company under which the players are registered.
Their resolve to keep the players stems from the outstanding performance of the team since their arrival for the playing tour of Europe on May 24, 2025.
Director of the Torino FC Academy, Gianluca Cabela, says he is encouraged by the quality of the players who have been exceptional in helping the team win all three friendly matches they have played against top Italian club sides, with amazing score lines.
The Nigerian team, consisting mainly of teen stars, has racked up an impressive goals haul, netting 30 times in those games, while conceding just two — a factor that has swayed the Italians in their desire to retain them.
“Your players have shown great quality,y and we have decided that it will be best to keep them here to further sharpen the rough edges of their game. Thankfully, under the terms of our agreement with Act Sports Di Oyibo Limited, we are empowered to do what we have to do to improve the players who will be working with our team of coaches, and bring them to the level of technical awareness required,” Cabela said.

Director of Act Sports Di Oyibo Limited, Pastor Samuel Robinson Oyibo, is delighted by the turn of events, saying it is just reward for months of hard work in patiently nurturing the players to the level that has seen them excelling at their first trial outside the shores of the country.
“I am pleased with the way things have turned out, both for the boys and Torino FC. For our young players, it is an experience that is necessary for their development, while for Torino- our partners – it is a new phase in their quest to unearth future world beaters, particularly those from Africa.
“On a personal note, it is a morale-booster because I’ll be more encouraged and motivated to help more youths, especially those with footballing flair and passion, to discover them for future career fulfillment,” he said.
The Nigerian company says it hopes to make another trip to Europe, possibly next summer, to give fresh opportunities to talented youngsters aiming to make a career out of football.
