  • Ondo NYSC: CDS group mobilises support for camp clinic project

    Barely few hours after the foundation laying ceremony of the National Youths Service Corps, , Permanent Orientation Camp Clinic in Ondo State, the Camp Clinic Community Development Service group has embarked on massive mobilisation of resources to complete the project.

    The foundation laying ceremony which held recently in Ondo, was performed by the Ondo State Head of Service, Barrister Toyin Akinkuotu.

    The group which is made up of professionals in various fields mapped out strategies to ensure that the project does not tarry beyond the expected completion period of one year.

    The Camp Clinic CDS group has started to solicit for financial donations and materials.

    The group has as its members, two corps doctors- Gbenga Ijimoroti and Jane Ukwuoma.

    Other professionals in the group are Orji Onyeka, who is a Building Technology graduate; Inu Jamiu from Estate Management field; Asia Faith, an Electrical Engineering graduate as well as Onumajuru Blessing whose area of specialisation is Civil Engineering.

    The mobilisation team disclosed that Association of Permanent Secretaries in Ondo State through Pastor Gbenga Adelayi, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance had supported the project financially.

    According to them, Ondo State Hospital Management Board under the supervision of Permanent Secretary, Dr. Niran Ikuomola, had pledged to support the project.

    Also, Dr. Durojaiye, Permanent Secretary, Ondo State Ministry of Health, is said to have expressed the willingness of his ministry to partner NYSC on the project.

    The Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko through the Vice Chancellor, Professor Igbekele Amos Ajibefun made a commitment while the management of the Federal Medical Centre, Owo, through the Chief Medical Director, Dr. Lasisi Ahmed enlisted the support of the Principal Officers of the health institution to assist on the construction.

    The mobilisation train also called on the royal fathers in the Akoko Division of the state, namely Oba Akadiri Saliu Momoh, the Olukare of Ikareland; Oba Samuel Kolapo Adegbite Adedoyin, the Owa-Ale of Ikareland and Oba Yisa Olanipekun, the Zaki of Arigidi Akoko to seek royal blessings and their support for the construction of the edifice.

    Meanwhile, the NYSC management starting with the immediate family and staff of the State Coordinator, Mrs. Grace Akpabio are not left out.

    The Assistant Directors as well as Chief Inspectors and other cadres have indicated their willingness not to be left behind.

    Meanwhile, the construction company handling Ikare Akoko- Akure Road has notified the NYSC of their intention to supply the laterite sand for the multi million Naira project.

  • ‘We didn’t intimidate any Civil Servant in Ondo’

    Ondo State civil servants on Monday hailed Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for not politicizing the civil service.

    Rather, they praised him for promoting their interests.

    According to workers, Akeredolu deserves commendation for doing a lot to alleviate the pains of his administration inherited from the immediate past administration.

    The state Head of Service, Mr. Toyin Akinkuotu, spoke at an expanded meeting which the civil servants held with the governor in Akure, the state capital.

    He said: “It is on record that no worker is harassed or intimidated by Akeredolu’s administration. The person who alleviated our pains by constantly paying our salaries deserve our commendation.

    “He has substantially paid our salary arrears. Promotion of civil servants and other benefits are not left out. We are bold to say that Akeredolu is fulfilling all his pre-election promises to Ondo State civil servants.”

    The Head of Service, however, promised the workers’ continued support for Akeredolu’s administration.

    Akeredolu said workers’ welfare was not what a responsible government should politicize.

    He stressed that a labourer deserves his wages, saying no condition would make his administration return the state civil servants to Egypt where they would be owed backlog of salaries.

    He promised to pay their leave bonus and their remaining one month arrears.

    Akeredolu thanked workers for their support and promised that deserving civil servants would earn their promotion.

    The governor has been up to date in the payment of state civil servants salaries, since he assumed office in 2016.

  • Akeredolu tasks workers on service delivery

    Gov Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State on Wednesday assured workers in the state that their welfare would remain top priority, advising them to rededicate themselves to their duties for effective service delivery.

    Akeredolu gave the assurance at the Annual First Work Day prayer meeting held with the public servants at the Governor’s office.

    He said that his administration would carry out its obligations to the people and workers despite the lean resources.

    The governor said the robust support and cooperation received from civil servants in the state since he assumed office was encouraging.

    Akeredolu, however, said that he would re-engineer the civil service for optimal service delivery and commitment.

    He also promised to improve on the infrastructural development recorded in 2018.

    The governor thanked security agents in the state for their efforts to wipe out criminals who had turned bushes to kidnap zones.

    He urged the people of the state not to panic as efforts were on to address all security challenges.

    In his sermon titled, ‘Making a Difference’, Bishop Felix Adejumo, General Overseer, Agape Christian Assembly, said he was hopeful of progress, blessings and increase in Ondo State in the New Year.

    Adejumo, however, urged the workers in the state to change their attitude to work, to add value to the system.

    Also, Mr Toyin Akinkuotu, the Head of Service, thanked the governor for placing priority on the welfare of workers through prompt payment of salaries and other backlog owed workers by the last administration.

    He advised the workers to always put in their best in order to move the state forward.

  • Ondo advises civil servants to plan well for retirement

    The Ondo State Government on Monday advised civil servants in the state to be proactive and plan well for their retirement from service.

    Mr Toyin Akinkuotu, the State Head of Service, (HoS) gave the advice in Akure at a retirement ceremony organised for Dr Taiye Oni, the Permanent Secretary (PS) of the Ministry of Health.

    Akinkuotu noted that when there was a solid plan, retirement would not be boring to retirees but enjoyable.

    “As civil servants, we should be thinking of what to do after the service.

    “We must keep going and be active always so that we can find life enjoyable,” he said.

    The HoS described the retired permanent secretary as an honest man and a man of excellence qualities, who had served meritoriously having reached 60 years of age.

    Dr Dayo Adeyanju, the immediate past Commissioner for Health in the state, while also extolling the virtues of Oni, said that the officer was tolerant to a fault.

    Adeyanju advised civil servants to shun poor preparation that could lead to loneliness, sickness and untimely death.

    Also, Dr Wahab Adegbenro, the state Commissioner for Health, said that the retiring officer was a man of peace, who had served without blemish.

    Similarly, Bishop Felix Adejumo of Agape Ministries International, Akure, also described him as a mentor, a good leader that was worthy of emulation.

    Adejumo urged civil servants to always be accountable to their superiors and God, and also support the development of the state.

    Dr Felix Olawoye, the Principal of Ondo State School of Health Technology, described Oni as a destiny helper, a facilitator of good things, who believed in solving challenges with peaceful approach.

    Dr Dolani Gbelela, the state Chairman of Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) said that the ministry would miss Dr Oni because “he is a man that calms tension down to give way for peace.’’

    Responding, Oni described civil service to be full of ups and downs, thanking God who made it possible for him to scale through all the challenges.

    He advised civil servants to get prepared for their retirement, saying it would surely come.

    Dr Taiye Oni was born on June 4, 1958, had his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery at University of Ilorin in 1983 and joined the service of the Ondo State in 1987.

    Ondo: Akeredolu dissolves boards and parastatals

    Gov. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu of Ondo state has approved the dissolution of all Boards and Parastatals in the state.

    The Head of Service, Mr Toyin Akinkuotu, on Saturday in Akure, announced the immediate dissolution of the boards and parastatals.

    Akinkuotu, through a statement, urged all chairmen, political appointees and non-career employees in all boards and parastatals in the state to hand over all government properties in their custody to the accounting officers in their respective offices.

    He, however, said that statutory commissions whose tenure is specified in the 1999 Nigerian Constitution were exempted from the dissolution.
