    The Managing Director of Toyota (Nigeria) Limited (TNL) Mr. Kunle Ade-Ojo, said the company success stories were made possible due to significant investments.

    TNL ended the 2024 business year on a high, emerging as the Auto Company of the Decade.

    It received the honour at the recently held Nigeria Auto Journalists Association in Lagos.

    It was the first time any automobile firm in Nigeria would be given such major honour at the annual awards, which entered its 13th edition last year.

    Just a few days earlier, the company was named as one of the top 50 brands in Nigeria, an annual assessment of top brands in the country.

    Ade-Ojo also attributed the success of the company to its loyal customers.

    Toyota names Nestle, Roxcon, Zenith as best customers

    Toyota (Nigeria) Limited (TNL) has named Nestle Nigeria Plc as winner of its prestigious Evergreen Customer Award for the Year (2023).

    The company emerged winner among the teeming Toyota customers, having purchased the highest cumulative number of new Toyota vehicles consistently within a five-year period from the TNL accredited dealers.

    As the Evergreen customer, Nestle was rewarded with office equipment worth about N10 million, which was announced by the Chairman of Toyota Nigeria Limited, Chief Michael Ade-Ojo, at a well-attended ceremony held in Lagos to celebrate the customers.

    Nestle also won the Best Customer of the Year award, being the customer with the highest purchase of Toyota vehicles from the TNL dealers in 2023. It also went home with a cash award of N5 million.

    Roxcon Nigeria Limited and Zenith International Bank received N3 million and N2 million respectively for emerging first runner-up and second runner-up in the 2023 TNL customers purchase assessment.

    Ade-Ojo congratulated the winners and thanked them for their loyalty to the Toyota brand and Toyota (Nigeria) Limited’s superior quality products and after-sale support.

    Even as he urged others to take a cue from the winners, he announced that next year’s winner of the biggest award, the Evergreen, would go home with a brand new Toyota vehicle.

    The Managing Director of Toyota (Nigeria) Limited, Mr. Kunle Ade-Ojo, in his address at the event, spoke on the big idea behind the annual awards.

    He said: “At Toyota (Nigeria) Limited, the philosophy of ‘Customer First’ remains the focal point of all our activities. Therefore, at every opportunity, we like to recognize and acknowledge our customers’ overwhelming love and support for us, which has been our driving force over the years.

    The Managing Director of Toyota (Nigeria) Limited (TNL), Mr. Kunle Ade-Ojo, said the auto giant would be lending its big network of workshops to support the Federal Government’s campaign for the use of Compressed Natural Gas-powered (CNG) vehicles through conversion.

    Ade-Ojo stated this during Toyota Motor Show organised by the TNL in Lagos. TNL launched two new models of Toyota – Belta and Rumion – into the nation’s market at the show.

    “We are almost concluding arrangements with different partners to use our network of workshops for the vehicles conversion to CNG-powered,” TNL boss said.

    Ade-Ojo stated that plans are on to unveil three new electric vehicles into the country in the next three years as part of its plans to support the government’s green deal initiative.

    “By the end of this year, we’ll be introducing our first hybrid electric vehicle, the Cross. Next year, we’ll introduce the RAV4 hybrid. And late next year or early 2026, we would be bringing in the Land Cruiser Prado hybrid,” he stated.

    The TNL MD recalled that Nigeria sold about 10,000 new vehicles last year, with Toyota recording about 1,500 units.

    He said that about 15,000 new vehicles were projected to be sold in Nigeria this year, adding that Toyota was on course to double its last year’s performance.

    The show, he said, afforded the TNL team an opportunity to “have a one-on-one interaction with our customers without any distraction; free diagnosis on customers’ vehicles and a test drive, all taking place in a quiet and comfortable environment.”

    Ade-Ojo, who also had a parley with the Chief Executive Officers (CEOs), expressed satisfaction with the attendance and the outcome of the event.

    Toyota by CFAO Nigeria to host ‘Toyota Dream Car Art Contest’

    Toyota by CFAO Nigeria has set machinery in motion to host the 17 edition of the “Toyota Dream Car Art Contest.”

    The entry, which opened from 16th January to 16th February 2024, will allow children from all corners of the globe to share ideas about the future of mobility by drawing their dream cars.

    Justifying the need for the iconic art contest, the organisers said, “Every great idea was born in the glimmer of a dream, and we at Toyota hope that this activity will help nurture the creativity of the next generation of great inventors, thinkers, and dreamers.”

    The contest comprises the National Contest and the World Contest.

    The “National Contest” will be held in each participating country from August 2023 to March 2024, with winners of this contest allowed to enter as representatives of their own country into the “World Contest,” scheduled to be held in Japan.

    Since 2004, the Toyota Dream Car Art Contest has been conducted as part of Toyota’s social contribution initiatives. In 2023 alone, there were about 780,000 entries from 90 countries and regions around the globe.

    Coscharis and Stallion Motors won the Most Resilient Auto Company.

    Mikano Motors was announced as the winners of Auto Showroom and Most Innovative Auto Company of the Year while TNL clinched the Pick Up of the Year.

    These categories of awards were presented to the companies at a colourful ceremony attended by key stakeholders including the Director General of National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), Mr Joseph Osanipin and Managing Director of TNL, Kunle Adeojo amongst others.

    In addition, Toyota Landcruiser won Large Sports Utiity Vehicle (SUV) of The Year, just as Toyota Hiace clinched Minibus of the Year.

     Also at the event, Osanipin challenged key players in the Nigerian Automotive Industry to think more on automotive components development and integration in assembly operations.

      “Today we are here to celebrate however we need to challenge ourselves with the future of the Nigeria automotive industry. We need to take the necessary steps to make these changes. It starts with us, we are the ones to determine where the automotive sector will be heading in Nigeria.”
