OLISEH’S ELDER BROTHER I don’t take bribe for transfers

President FC Ebedei of Sagamu, Churchill Oliseh, has disowned Facebook accounts in his name which has been demanding money from players to get them a lucrative deal abroad.

The elder brother of Super Eagles coach, said the accounts were opened by impostors who have been duping players and their parents claiming that he is connected to Manchester City Academy.

“My attention has been drawn to false claims by fraudulent football academies that they are linked with me and some of such academies and persons have demanded varying sums from unsuspecting parents and individuals. I, herein, state categorically that I have never and will never demand any sum or gratification to identify, develop nor promote a football player or whosoever.

“I also seize this opportunity to alert the public of numerous fake and fraudulent Facebook accounts and other social media impersonating my name and or falsely on my behalf. I am solely committed to my FC Ebedei team in the Nationwide League One and a firm exponent that safe for recreation you get paid for playing football not pay to play football.”

When asked about his connection with Manchester City Academy, he said:”I have nothing whatsoever with Manchester City.”

  • Top 5 Nigeria winter transfers

    Top 5 Nigeria winter transfers

MTNFootball.com runs the rule on the top five winter transfers involving Nigeria players

    5. Kelechi Iheanacho (Taye Academy to Manchester City)

The 2013 FIFA U17 World Cup MVP has sealed a four-year-deal with Manchester City. This should be a move that will turn around his career for better as he will be developed to get ready for the bigger challenge when he clocks 18.

What to expect: He is a long-term investment and has the quality to be one of the best of his trade in the world, but his development has to be gradual and not rushed. He should be ready for the big stage in a couple of years.

    4. Obinna Nsofor (Lokomotiv Moscow to Chievo Verona)

The Nigeria forward returns to his former club on loan from Russian club Lokomotiv Moscow, where he has not been a regular.

Chievo are desperate for goals and Nsofor could provide that for them to stay up in the Italian Serie A.

What to expect: He will enjoy a better run in the first team at Chievo to further boost his chances of making the final cut for the 2014 World Cup in June.

    3. Osaze Odemwingie

    (Cardiff City to Stoke City)

The forward made a switch from Cardiff City to Stoke City and that is a good move for him after he could not command regular football action at Cardiff.

What to expect: He should command a regular shirt at the Britannia and so, fight for a chance to get a recall to the Eagles ahead of Brazil 2014.

    2. Joseph Yobo

    (Fenerbache to Norwich City)

The move by Nigeria’s most capped player to Norwich City in the EPL is a right step in the right direction for the Fenerbahce defender who is dreaming of hitting 100 caps before his retirement.

He was an important member of Fenerbahce before he fell down the pecking order this season and needs to move to save his career from a total crash.

What to expect: Having blossomed with Everton in the EPL, Yobo should do well for Norwich in a terrain he knows too well. And then who would bet against him being on the plane to Brazil in the summer?

    1. Elderson Echiejile (Sporting Braga to Monaco)

The left back’s transfer from Sporting Braga (Portugal) to AS Monaco (France) is the best move by any Nigerian player this winter transfer.

Elderson was an established player with Braga and playing for a big team like Monaco will boost his profile and offer him the chance to win major trophies at club level.

What to expect: He has started rather slowly at Monaco as he has yet to make his league debut. Main rival Layvin Kurzawa remains top choice at left back for Claudio Ranieri, but once he gets his chance, Elderson will take it with both hands.

  • Keshi happy with Eagles transfers

    Keshi happy with Eagles transfers

Super Eagles Coach, Stephen Keshi says he is impressed with the moves made by some of the country’s top stars in the ongoing summer transfer window.

The biggest move so far is that of Emmanuel Emenike who is returning to Turkey to join Fenerbahce for a whooping 2.7bn transfer fee and while the African Nations Cup top scorer will not be available for national team duties next Wednesday in South Africa largely because of the latest switch, the Big Boss stated that he is on top of the situation.

“We will need him (Emenike) in the World Cup qualifiers but he has a lot of things to do at his new club and we must give him that opportunity.

But I must say we are in good contact and we are happy with the way things are going with our top players in the transfer market. Keshi said in a press statement signed by the Eagles media officer, Ben Alaiya

Aside Emenike, some other Nigerian players have also switched clubs includes Taye Taiwo, John Utaka, Michael Eneramo and a host of others.

  • NFF plan overhaul of domestic transfers

NFF plan overhaul of domestic transfers

Nigeria’s domestic transfer structure is to undergo a massive overhaul from next season.

A series of embarrassing transfer disputes have occurred during the current season, mostly involving Enugu Rangers.

One of these, involving Benjamin Francis, resulted in the expulsion of the Nigerian club from the CAF Confederations Cup, and Nations Cup star Sunday Mba was rendered inactive for months while Warri Wolves tussled with Rangers over ownership of his rights.

These incidents have forced the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) into a plan to adjust and enforce their own rule books.

“From next season, things will change drastically. No contract between player and club will be deemed to have been executed until the copies of the signed contracts have been deposited with the federation,” NFF official Nasir Jubril told KickOffNigeria.com.

While this requirement is covered in the NFF transfer rules, it has not been enforced until now, and Jubril says that, and more, will change.

“The Bosman rule will also be strictly enforced. Once a player’s contract runs out, he will be a free agent as obtains elsewhere and will not require clearance to join a new club.”

Under the current situation, players whose contracts have expired still require clearance papers from their previous clubs before being issued licenses to play for their new clubs.

To ensure that clubs are fully aware of these changes, plans are afoot for an end of season seminar for club secretaries and chairmen to appraise them of the changes.

  • ‘Electronic funds transfers to hit N160b daily’

The second phase of the cash-less policy billed to commence in July may raise the value of electronic funds transfer in the country to N160 billion per day by the end of this year, the Chief Executive Officer, Electronic Payment Providers Association of Nigeria (E-PPAN), Mrs. Onajite Regha, has said.

Additional states coming on board for the next phase of the cash-less policy are the Federal Capital Territory, Abia, Rivers, Anambra, Kano and Ogun states.

The E-PPAN boss, who spoke in Lagos, said the current value of electronic fund transfers – put at N80 billion per day by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), would most likely double because there would be a lot of changes, which would compel people to use e-Fund transfer channels.

The Nigeria Interbank Settlement System (NIBSS) is handling transactions worth about N20 billion daily, while the Nigeria Electronic Funds Transfer is conducting about N60bn worth of transactions daily.

NIBSS provides the infrastructure for automated processing, settlement of payments and fund transfer instructions between banks, discount houses and card companies in Nigeria. It is owned equally by all licensed banks in Nigeria, and the CBN. Discount houses operating in Nigeria also hold substantial shares.

A NEFT payment is an irrevocable fund transfer instruction.

Mrs. Onajite Regha said : “By the time we do six months into the new phase, the figure is likely going to rise by over 100 per cent.

“All these places we are going to are places where cash is moved heavily. We are looking at six additional commercial centres. We should, therefore, not forget that right now, it is only Lagos that is functional.”

Currently, there about 150,000 PoS terminals deployed in the country for the cash-less initiative, which commenced in January last year.

The E-PPAN boss said: “By the time we started the Cash-less Lagos scheme, the projection of the regulator was that by December, 2012, we would have recorded 40,000 PoS terminal deployment. But available data showed that we now have about 150, 000 PoS machines in Lagos.

“However, the question is: How many of the PoS are working? So, that is where I believe we need to work on. We need to have better connectivity to these terminals to encourage the merchants and the consumers to use the devices for seamless payment transactions.”

The Deputy Governor, Operations, CBN, Mr. Tunde Lemo, who is responsible for driving the cash-less policy, recently explained that the additional states (Rivers, Kano, Anambra, Ogun and Abia as well as the FCT) for the cash-less initiative were chosen because of the large volume of cash transactions in some of their major cities.

He said: “Recall that we started this programme actually in January last year and we are only just continuing. We are only just moving to phase two, so we have learnt all the ropes in phase one in cash-less Lagos and we believe we are ready to roll out to other six locations in Nigeria”.

  • No more transfers into Lagos public schools

The Lagos State government will no longer accept pupils seeking transfers into JSS2 and SS2 classes in its public secondary schools.

Chairman of the Lagos State Basic Education Board (LSUBEB), Mrs Gbolahan Daodu, said at a meeting with parents and head teachers held at LTV Blue Roof last Thursday that many candidates seeking admissions from other states usually present forged results from their former schools which become evident when they fail screening tests.

She added that when they are admitted in JSS2 and SS2, a year before terminal classes, there is insufficient time to prepare them adequately for public examinations, worsening the performance statistics.

She also said the influx of school-aged children into Lagos daily puts pressure on school infrastructures and makes it difficult for the government to plan for the future.

“From now on we will not accept transfers into JSS2 and SS2. The reason is that many would say they want to change school and they tell lies. They bring all sorts of documents from other schools where they must have failed. We now conduct exams for these transfers.

Some people buy forms but don’t come for the exams; some come but at the end we don’t know where to place them,” she said.

Mrs Daodu also used the meeting to inform parents of the 2013 Placement Tests for Primary Six pupils holding on Saturday. Underscoring the importance of the test, she told the parents it is now compulsory for pupils transiting from primary six in both public and private primary schools, to JSS1 classes to write and pass the test.

She warned them against trying to influence admission for wards that fail to sit for the examination.

She said: “All Primary Six pupils both public/private school pupils must write the exam and must make at least 50 per cent. There is no talk that we are ACN, PDP politicians or that we are poor so take our children. If we take them in we are giving our teachers problems.”

Mrs Daodu, however, appealed to the parents to bear with the government if their wards are placed in schools far from their homes as the number of junior secondary schools in the state is insufficient. She said while areas like Alimosho, Agege, Ketu have overcrowded schools, places like Ogudu had schools that cannot fill their classrooms.

She also appealed to landowners and chiefs to provide the government with land to build more schools in areas of great need.

The parents were also addressed by other top education officers, like Mrs Mary Iji, Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary District V, said as the foundational level of education, the primary school stage is the most important of all and as such parents should play his role.

Lagos State chapter Chairman of the Association of Primary School Heads of Nigeria (AOPSHON), Mr Alase Dosunmu urged the parents to feed and dress their children on the day of the examination.

  • NFF to orgainse workshop on players’ transfers for clubs

NFF to orgainse workshop on players’ transfers for clubs

Nigerian Football clubs playing in different leagues will get an opportunity to know more about professional player transfer at the NFF/FIFA Transfer Modern System (TMS) workshop which holds from Thursday February 28 to March 2.

The (TMS) workshop has been scheduled for February 28 for Premier League clubs, Friday March 1 for Nigeria National League clubs and March 2nd for Nigeria Nationwide League clubs at 3Js hotel near Chida Int’l hotel from 9am-5pm.

The Transfer Modern System (TMS) is mandatory for all professional football clubs and as well it’ll be the only process for international transfer of professional football players.

After the workshop, clubs will be solely responsible for international transfers.

The row over the transfer of some top stars has made it necessary for the Glass House to make this available and nip the controversy in the bud.
