    Troops arrest 2 suspected cattle rustlers, recover arms in Plateau

    Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation Enduring Peace (JTF-OPEP), has arrested two suspected cattle rustlers in Kogul Community of Mangu Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau.

    Maj. Samson Zhakom, the Media Officer of the operation disclosed this in a statement  in Jos on Thursday.

    He explained that the arrest followed an intelligence report on criminal activities involving the suspects.

    Zhakom disclosed that the troops raided the hideout of the suspected rustlers in the early hours of Thursday.

    “As part of efforts to curtail the menace of cattle rustling which often triggers crisis in our Joint Operations Area, troops of JTF-OPEP raided the hideout of suspected cattle rustlers in Kogul village, Mangu LGA of Plateau.

    “During the intelligence-based operation, troops arrested two notorious cattle rustlers and recovered some arms and ammunition.

    “Some of the arms include, one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine, one fabricated revolver rifle, ten rounds of 7.62 mm (Special) ammunition, a mobile phone and a reasonable amount of money,”he said.

    The media officer said that the suspects and recovered items are currently in the custody of troops for further investigation.

    Troops rescue 17 kidnap victims in Kogi

    12 Brigade, in collaboration with Hybrid Forces and local vigilante, have rescued 17 kidnap victims in Kogi State.

    The victims, including 13 adults and four children, were rescued along Wuro village in Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi State.

    Spokesman of the 12 Brigade, Lt. Hassan Abdullahi, said in a statement on Thursday that the victims were abducted at Opamaru village along Obajana–Lokoja Road.

    He said, “The victims, who were travelling in a 17-seater bus from Osun State and headed for Abuja, were intercepted by the criminals before troops swiftly intervened. Without delay, the patrol base reinforced by the Brigade Quick Response Group (QRG) immediately mobilized to the scene.

    “On arrival, the troops discovered a 17-seater bus abandoned by the roadside, completely empty. Employing field craft, the soldiers swiftly trailed the kidnappers’ footprints to Wuro Village in Adavi Local Government Area, where the troops came in contact with the criminals.

    “Overpowered by the troops’ superior firepower, the criminals abandoned all 17 kidnapped passengers and fled into the bush with various degrees of gunshot injuries. The rescued victims were immediately evacuated to the 12 Brigade Medical Centre for first aid and stabilization.”

    Hassan reassured the public of the Army’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, urging citizens to continue to support the military with timely information to aid ongoing operations.

    Troops apprehend 54 terror suspects, rescue 9 kidnapped victims

    Troops of the Nigerian Army have apprehended 54 terror and criminal suspects and rescued nine kidnapped victims in different theatres of operation across the country in the last 24 hours.

    A credible source at Army Headquarters told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday that the operations also led to the neutralisation of several terrorists.

    The source also said that a large cache of arms and ammunition were recovered as well as recovery of rustled livestock and destruction of illegal bunkering sites.

    In the North East, the source said the troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) repelled an attack by Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP)/Boko Haram terrorists on their location at Ngirboa Bridge in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe.

    He said that a family member of ISWAP terrorists surrendered to troops of 192 Battalion in Gwoza Local Government Area, after fleeing Kunde village on the Mandara Mountains in Borno.

    In the North West, the source said the troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA rescued eight kidnapped victims at Tungar Miragumi and Zugu villages in Bukkuyum axis of Zamfara, and recovered 21 sheep during a counter–rustling operation in Anka.

    According to him, troops also recovered 143 rustled sheep in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State and destroyed a terrorist camp.

    He added that troops killed one terrorist during an encounter at Sabuwa in Katsina State.

    “Troops of   the FOB Lilo in Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara killed six terrorists in an encounter.

    “In the South West, troops of Operation MESA and security agencies arrested 10 suspected internet fraudsters at Ajegunle in Kishi Local Government Area of Oyo State, and 42 suspects at Idu Industrial Area, Abuja.

    “A policeman providing cover for the Abuja suspects was also arrested and handed over for investigation,” he said.

    The source said the troops also foiled illegal bunkering activities in Bayelsa and Rivers, seizing large quantities of suspected illegally refined AGO, hoses, pipes and other equipment.

    “In Rivers, two suspected sea pirates were arrested with locally made weapons and a fibre boat, while NDLEA operatives arrested four narcotics suspects during a joint operation in Bayelsa.

    The source reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigerian army to protecting the nation and urged citizens to continue supporting security agencies with timely information.

    Troops burst gunrunning syndicate, arrest 35 suspects in Niger Delta

    Troops of 6 Division, Nigerian Army, in an intelligence-led operation, have smashed gunrunning syndicates specialised in trafficking Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALWs) to criminals across the Niger Delta Region (NDR). 

    The Acting Director, 6 Division Army Public Relations, Lt. Col. Danjuma Jonah Danjuma, said in a statement that the operation led to the interception of two English pistols, four locally fabricated pistols, and a double-barrelled gun. 

    Danjuma said the criminals were noted to be engaged in arms deals using the Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, and Bayelsa states’ corridor for the discreet movement of illicit SALWs within the region.

    He identified the gunrunners as Innocent Emiyemokumo Deidei, aka, Sele Bobo, Godknows Alabor Avor, and Godwin Osik.

    He said they were apprehended at different times through intelligence-driven operations and that the suspects and arms recovered were handed over to the relevant agency for prosecution.

    Danjuma said the troops made notable gains between 25 August and 7 September 2025, destroying six illegal refining sites, arresting 35 criminals and the confiscating over 14,000 litres of stolen products. 

    He said in Rivers State, around the Kilometre 45 axis in Degema LGA, two illegal refining sites were deactivated, with 4,500 litres and 3,000 litres of stolen crude and illegally refined Automotive Gasoline Oil (AGO) recovered.

    He said around Rumukpe in Emohua LGA, the troops discovered multiple dugout pits with crude oil adding that a suspect was picked up while attempting to package over 1,800 litres of stolen crude in sacks.

    He said, “Additionally, at Abacheke Community, near the boundary between Rivers and Imo States, troops recovered 35 sacks filled with over 1,750 litres of illegally refined AGO. Several items were recovered, including one motorcycle and an Infinix mobile phone. One suspected oil thief was apprehended. 

    “At Omoku in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni LGA, a white Mitsubishi Hilux conveying 12 sacks of stolen AGO was intercepted along the Kiri Omoku–Elele road. The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled into the nearby bush on sighting troops.”

    Troops arrest eight ISWAP suppliers, rescue five abductees

    Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 149 Battalion have arrested eight suspected Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP/JAS) logistics suppliers in Gubio town, Gubio Local Government Area of Borno State. 

    The suspects were found with 28 jerrycans and one drum of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) concealed in shops and a Point of Sale (POS) center, intended for onward delivery to the terrorists.

    A source at Army headquarters in Abuja told The Nation Tuesday morning that troops and personnel from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) arrested a notorious oil facility vandal in Bayelsa State, while a joint operation by the 17 Brigade at Forward Operating Base Malumfashi, the Nigeria Police, and local vigilantes rescued five kidnap victims in Gidan Kwairo village, Katsina State.

    The source said: “In other operational breakthroughs, troops of 149 Battalion, while on a logistics strangulation mission within Gubio Town, Gubio Local Government Area of Borno State, apprehended 8 suspected ISWAP/JAS logistics suppliers. 

    “The suspects were found with 28 jerrycans and one drum of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) concealed in shops and a POS centre. Troops also recovered ₦145,510 in cash and five mobile phones intended for onward delivery to terrorists.

    “Meanwhile, troops of 17 Brigade at Forward Operating Base Malumfashi, working with the Nigeria Police and local vigilantes, responded to a distress call at Gidan Kwairo village in Katsina State. The swift response forced terrorists to abandon five kidnapped victims, who were rescued unharmed. 

    “Sadly, the terrorists killed one civilian while another sustained gunshot injuries and was evacuated to Malumfashi General Hospital. Troops have since intensified patrols to reassure locals and restore normalcy.”

    According to a military source, the Army’s ongoing efforts to protect oil facilities, prevent oil theft, and curb criminal activities in the South-South region have yielded results, with troops recently arresting a notorious oil facility vandal in Bayelsa State.

    “The arrest, which was carried out on 7 September 2025 by troops of 5 Battalion in collaboration with personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and Abili Security Services at Okordia in Yenagoa Local Government Area, dealt a significant blow to sabotage of critical oil infrastructure. 

    “The suspect has been handed over to the Department of State Services (DSS) for further investigation,” he said.

    Troops at the weekend swooped on terrorists, bandits and other criminal elements across the country, killing many and seizing arms and ammunition.

     The raids, which took place between end of last week and yesterday, dealt a serious blow on insurgents.

    Amy spokesman, Lt. -Col. Appolonia Anele, and Brigades’ spokesperson, gave accounts of how the criminals were neutralised in the Northwest, Northeast and Northcentral.

    Members of the Eastern Security Network (ESN) in the Southeast also suffered huge losses.

    In the Southsouth, oil thieves got a dose of the military fire power.

    In the Southwest, suspected armed robbers, kidnappers and drug dealers got a raw deal.

    Northeast

     During the sustained weeklong crackdown, Army Lt. -Col. Anele said troops rescued many kidnapped victims, recovered assorted firearms, ammunition, and seized illicit substances.

     According to her, in the Northeast, troops of 117 Task Force Battalion supported by Civilian Joint Task Force and vigilantes engaged terrorists at Yimurmuze in Chibok Local Government of Borno State, neutralising one, and seized an AK-47 rifle, magazine, and 24 rounds of ammunition.

    She said troops of 159 Battalion in Geidam Local Government eliminated another terrorist, recovering additional weapons.

    In Gwoza council, troops of 192 Battalion with Hybrid Force repelled an ambush by ISWAP/JAS fighters around Kwatara Kasa Village, killing one terrorist while others fled towards the Mandara Mountains.

    Operatives of 115 Task Force Battalion in Adamawa arrested eight suspected cattle rustlers, recovering locally made weapons and mobile phones. Troops of 232 Battalion also intercepted two suspected petroleum smugglers in Mubi South Local Government, seizing 19 jerry cans of products concealed in motorcycles.

     Northwest

     In the Northwest, a combined air and ground strike at Zango in Katsina State dealt a major blow to terrorists, killing about 15 fighters according to intercepted communications.

    Lt. Col. Anele said in Sokoto, troops arrested two terrorist informants and logistics suppliers, while in Zamfara, 1 Brigade, working with the DSS, apprehended a woman logistics supplier linked to notorious kingpin, Ado Aliero.

    She was found with N37,000, a mobile phone, and other items.

    In Kaduna State, 19 suspects were rounded up during raids at Rigasa, Mando, Tudun Wada and Unguwan Dosa.

    Northcentral

    Troops in the Northcentral region also made headway. Operation WHIRL STROKE forces killed one armed herder in Logo Local Government of Benue State and recovered weapons.

    In Niger State, two kidnapped victims were rescued and 28 cows recovered following air and ground operations in Mariga Local Government.

    Also, in Plateau, troops recovered two AK-47 rifles in Mista Ali Village, Bassa Local Government, after interrogating a captured informant.

    In the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Guards Brigade troops recovered a stolen vehicle and arrested three criminals in Gwagwalada.

    Southsouth

    In the Southsouth, troops disrupted oil bunkering activities in Rivers State, recovering 35 sacks of illegally-refined products, amounting to about 1,750 litres. One suspect was arrested.

    During the operation in Delta, soldiers, working with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), arrested three drug peddlers in Sapele. In Oshimili South, two people, suspected to be members of the outlawed Independent People of Biafra/ Eastern Security Network (IPOB/ESN) allegedly linked to Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) production, were apprehended.

    The Army spokesman added that “other coordinated actions in Lagos, Plateau, and the FCT also saw the arrest of armed robbers, kidnappers, and drug dealers, with the recovery of arms, ammunition, and illicit substances.

    “The Nigerian Army stressed its commitment to sustaining pressure on criminal elements, dismantling terrorist networks, and creating a safer environment to enhance agricultural productivity and support the Federal Government’s drive for food security.”

    A source at the Army headquarters told The Nation yesterday that one of the arrested woman terror-suspect admitted to being a drug peddler for a terror kingpin.  She was found in possession of weapons, cash and other items.

    According to the source, troops continue to scale up operations to dismantle terrorist networks, disrupt criminal activities, and recover illicit arms across the country, achieving remarkable success.

    He said troops from the 192 Battalion, in conjunction with the Hybrid Force, killed one Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighter during a firefight around Kwatara Kasa village in Borno State, yesterday.

    The military source said troops in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have continued to build on their success, intercepting and arresting many criminals.

    “In the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), 176 Guards Battalion mounted a snap roadblock to intercept a stolen vehicle from Osun State. The suspects fled but were tracked to a hotel in Gwagwalada, where three criminals were arrested.

     “Troops recovered the stolen vehicle, 11 mobile phones, and N29,700 before handing the suspects and exhibits over to the police,” the source said.

    In Kogi State, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, 12 Brigade, Lokoja, Lt. Hassan Abdullahi, yesterday spoke on troops’ undergoing various operations in different parts of the state.

    According to him, the soldiers have also been able to rescue Pabo Sulaiman and his two children and destroyed bandits’ settlements in the state.

    He listed Tunga, Aleke, Ungwan Soni, Unguwan Nyagba and Ankoyi, among others, as the communities where the operations took place.

    Lt. Abdullahi said: “On September 5, during a gun battle at a bandits’ hideout ahead of Tunga, intelligence confirmed that Kachalla Bala, a notorious bandit commander, and five others were neutralised.

    “On the same day, troops, in conjunction with OHF, also conducted a successful ambush operation on a suspected bandits’ main supply route at Agbede–Adankoo Bridge (Mosalanci Boka), where a bandit logistics courier was neutralised. Items recovered during the ambush included a motorcycle, two mobile phones, and AK-47 magazine loaded with 20 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.

    “In a sustained effort to rid Kogi State of banditry and other contemporary security challenges while restoring peace in troubled communities, troops of 12 Brigade have continued to record significant gains in the Operation EGWUA A TITE II in Kogi State. The operation, which began on September 1, has recorded a notable success.

    “During the operation, troops of 126 Battalion, led by the Commanding Officer and in conjunction with Other Hybrid Forces (OHF) came in contact with bandits along their axis of advance in Tunga general area. During the firefight, two bandits were neutralised.

    “In an effort to boost troops’ morale, the commander of 12 Brigade and Force Commander of Operation Accord III, Brig.-Gen. Kasim Umar Sidi, led the exploitation further along axis of advance leading to destruction of bandits’ settlements while dominating the general area with patrols and ambushes.

    “On September 2, acting on intelligence, troops with close air support from 405 Helicopter Combat Training Group, launched an air combat mission to Ankomi, engaging fleeing bandits on sight and neutralising scores.

    “In a related development, troops of 126 Battalion, led by the commanding officer, on September 3, conducted clearance operations in Aleke, Ungwan Soni, and Ungwan Nyaba communities.

    “During the operation, Pabo Suleiman and his two children were rescued. The rescued victims had been reunited with their family. In addition, five locally made dane guns were recovered.”

    The Brigade spokesman declared “Troops of 12 Brigade have reiterated its commitment to rid Kogi State and adjoining areas of banditry, criminality, and other security threats.

     “Operation EGWUA A TITE II continues to yield positive results, and troops will remain resolute in restoring peace and security in the region.”

    Troops of the Nigerian Army eliminated 15 terrorists in Katsina State, apprehended 13 suspects in Kaduna, and recovered weapons from armed herders in Benue between Friday and Saturday.

    A credible source at Army Headquarters disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.

    The source said that air and ground offensives were carried out at Zango High Ground in Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina, where troops destroyed terrorists’ hideouts after airstrikes and ground assaults.

    According to the source, intercepted communications confirmed 15 terrorists were killed, with several others wounded.

    “In Kaduna metropolis, troops of 1 Division Garrison, apprehended 13 suspects with illicit drugs in joint operations with police and other agencies, raided black spots in Unguwan Dosa, Unguwan Yero, Kwaru and Majalisa areas..

    “In Sokoto State, troops foiled terrorist activities in Sabon Birni and Wurno LGAs, rescuing a driver and his vehicle.

    “However, four suspected terrorists were lynched by locals in Kaura Village, while three others were rescued and handed to the police.

    “Two suspected terrorist informants were also arrested in Gudu Local Government Area,” he said.

    The source said the troops of Operation Whirl Stroke killed one armed herder during clearance operations, in Logo Local Government Area of Benue.

    The source added that an AK-47 rifle, 19 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and other items were recovered.

    According to the source,  troops also responded to clashes in Kwande and Guma Local Government Areas, diffusing tensions and evacuating an injured farmer to hospital.

    “The Nigerian Army said troops remain on aggressive patrols across theatres to deny terrorists freedom of action and ensure security of lives and property,” he added.

    Troops of the Nigerian Army have killed 11 terrorists and arrested 64 others in their ongoing onslaught against adversaries nationwide.

    The troops also arrested 16 illegal miners, including one Nigerien, and recovered some weapons and other items.

    A military source told The Nation on Friday that the ongoing onslaught is part of the Army’s efforts to dismantle terrorist networks, disrupt criminal activities, and safeguard national resources nationwide.

    According to the source, the troops of the 222 Battalion and 145 Battalion in the Northeast repelled attacks by Islamic West Africa Province (ISWAP) at Alau Dam in Borno State, killing eight terrorists and recovering weapons.

    “Troops of 192 Battalion also intercepted terrorists’ logistics in Gwoza Local Government Area, while 144 Battalion arrested three suspected terrorist logistics suppliers in Adamawa State with smuggled items,” the source said, adding that the army has continued to deliver heavy blows on bandits in the northwest, neutralising them and destroying their hideouts.

    The source said, “In Katsina State, troops of 17 Brigade neutralised two terrorists at Malali Bridge, and recovered a motorcycle, radio, and phones, while 1 Brigade in Zamfara State neutralised another in Shinkafi, recovering an AK-47 rifle, livestock, and other items.

    “Whilst in Sokoto and Zamfara, troops recovered 93 rustled animals and rescued two kidnapped victims. Additionally, troops in Kankara rescued a kidnap victim earlier abducted at Maitsiga Village.”

    Also, troops intensified counter-crime operations in Kaduna, where 27 suspects were arrested across multiple raids in Sabon Tasha, Kakuri, and surrounding areas, with seizures of illicit drugs and weapons.

    In the Northcentral zone, according to the military source, troops have continued to maintained momentum against kidnappers, extremists and bandits, taking the battle to their enclaves and rescuing captives.

    The source said, “In Kogi State, troops of 126 Battalion rescued a kidnapped man and his two children, recovering five Dane guns, while air and ground offensives in Lokoja neutralised insurgent movements.

    “Also, in Plateau State, troops arrested a notorious insurgent informant, Abdurahman Bega, linked to a wanted terrorist leader, and separately apprehended an armed militia member with an AK-47 rifle and ammunition, while in Kwara State, troops of 22 Brigade captured an AK-47 rifle with ammunition and a motorcycle from insurgents during patrols.

    “In Abuja, Guards Brigade troops arrested 16 illegal miners, including one Nigerien national and a fake Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) operative, while seizing motorcycles, mining equipment, generators, narcotics, and other items.”

    According to the source, the troops have also sustained momentum against oil thieves in the South South and Southeast regions, recovering stolen petroleum products and arresting oil bunkers.

    “In Imo, Abia, and Rivers States, soldiers discovered large quantities of illegally refined petroleum products, including 5,000 litres of stolen crude and over 3,000 litres of refined products, and arrested two suspects in possession of illegal substances.

    “Elsewhere in Edo State, troops rescued a kidnapped tricycle operator in Esan South East Local Government Area, recovering his tricycle, while in Rivers State, troops arrested two suspected oil thieves and seized mobile phones along with illegally refined diesel and Kerosene.”

    “Also, in Plateau State, troops arrested a notorious insurgent informant, Abdurahman Bega, linked to a wanted terrorist leader, and separately apprehended an armed militia member with an AK-47 rifle and ammunition, while in Kwara State, troops of 22 Brigade captured an AK-47 rifle with ammunition and a motorcycle from insurgents during patrols.

    “In Abuja, Guards Brigade troops arrested 16 illegal miners, including one Nigerien national and a fake Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) operative, while seizing motorcycles, mining equipment, generators, narcotics, and other items.”

    The source said troops have also sustained momentum against oil thieves in the South South and Southeast regions, recovering stolen petroleum products and arresting oil bunkers.

    “In Imo, Abia, and Rivers States, soldiers discovered large quantities of illegally refined petroleum products, including 5,000 litres of stolen crude and over 3,000 litres of refined products, and arrested two suspects in possession of illegal substances.

    “Elsewhere in Edo State, troops rescued a kidnapped tricycle operator in Esan South East Local Government Area, recovering his tricycle, while in Rivers State, troops arrested two suspected oil thieves and seized mobile phones along with illegally refined diesel and Kerosene,” the military source said.

    Troops will sustain onslaught against terrorists and bandits throughout the farming season and beyond to allow farmers within the conflict zones carry out farming activities unhindered, Defence Headquarters (DHQ), has said.

    The military high command gave the assurance through the Director of Operations, Maj.-Gen Markus Kangye during a news briefing at the DHQ, said yesterday.

    Maj.-Gen. Kangye stated that troops have continued to respond to distress calls about terrorist activities, neutralizing and arresting several terrorists, thereby ensuring a safe environment for citizens.

    He said: “During the month under review, troops eliminated some key terrorist commanders during firefights as well as through air bombardment. They have also arrested terrorists, kidnappers and other criminals.

     “Our gallant troops have demonstrated optimally in sustaining the conduct of renewed operational strategy that afforded our farmers within the crisis areas to carry out farming activities.

    “This effort will be sustained throughout the farming season and beyond.”

    According to the Defence spokesman, several terrorists were nuetralised by troops their operations in Mafa, Bama, Damboa, Gwoza, Kukawa, Jere, Askira-Uba, and Mobbar Local Government Areas of Borno State, as well as Duhu and Gulak in Madagali Local Government Areas of Adamawa State.

    Gen. Kangye said that two suspects were arrested and eight kidnap victims were rescued by troops.

    He said: “Also, between 29 August and 1 September 2025, troops conducted operations in Bama, Biu and Marte Local Government Areas of Borno State as well as Madagali, Michika and Damaturu Local Government Areas of Adamawa and Yobe States respectively.

    “During the encounters, 13 terrorist collaborators, informants and a gunrunner as well as a drug peddler were arrested.”

    According to Kangye, troops have intensified operations in the Northwest, neutralizing several bandits, rescuing kidnap victims, and recovering weapons from adversaries.

    He said troops operations from August 31 to September 2 in Sokoto, Zamfara, Kebbi, Katsina, Kano and Kaduna states, led to elimination of several terrorists, arrested 23 others, and rescued 24 kidnap victims.

    Kangye said: “During the week, troops of OP ENDURING PEACE responded to several distress calls about terrorist activities in some sectors. For instance, within the period 30 August to 2 September 2025, troops conducted offensive operations and responded to distress calls on terrorists’ activities in Mangu, Jos North, Riyom, QuaÁn Pan, Barki Ladi, Jos East and Bassa Local Government Areas of Plateau State as well as Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

    During the cross-fire, troops killed some of the terrorists, arrested six criminals and rescued two kidnapped victims. Some weapons, ammunition, motorcycles and vehicles were recovered from them.

    “In another development, troops arrested a suspected kidnapper while withdrawing N3 million from a Point of Sale (PoS) vendor in Bassa Local Government Area on 30 August 2025.”

    In one month alone, the DHQ spokesman said many insurgents have been killed, 85 suspects arrested and 66 victims rescued.

    Besides, he said that troops of Operation Delta Safe foiled oil theft worth N545, 872,819 million in August.

    N545.8m worth of oil theft foiled

    Maj.-Gen. Kangye said the troops recovered 619,236 litres of stolen crude oil, 106,147 litres of illegally refined diesel (AGO), 5,785 litres of kerosene (DPK), and 2,650 litres of petrol (PMS).

    He said: “They also destroyed 97 illegal refining sites and over 488 pieces of equipment, including storage tanks, boats, dugout pits and cooking ovens.”

    Gen. Kangye said 17 suspects were apprehended across Rivers, Delta and Bayelsa States with arms, ammunition, explosives and N1.7 million cash recovered from them.
