  • PCNI humanitarian effort, hub begin in North East

To deploy creative local solutions to local problems in the country, the Presidential Committee on North East Initiative (PCNI) has started its first ever North East humanitarian and innovation hub in the zone.

According to a statement issued on Friday by the Head of Media and Communications of PCNI, Alkasim Abdulkadir, the hub is a project of the Nigerian National Social Investments Programm (NNSIP) under the office of the Vice President Prof Yemi Osinbajo.

He said “The idea behind the hub is to foster creative local solutions to local problems emanating from the ongoing conflict in the North East.”

At the flagged off of the event by the Vice President, he said that Osinbajo  restated the government’s commitment in establishing more hubs across the country to not only provide opportunities for growth but to also seek to utilize the great talents abound in Nigeria.

The hubs, he said, are meant to harness technologies and turn technical ideas developed by individuals into industrial products.

He declared that technology and innovation were critical for national development for a prosperous country.

He said that the process of rebuilding the North East was one of the major priorities of the present administration.

The representative of the Chairman of the PCNI, Lt Gen TY Danjuma (rtd),  a member of the PCNI board Engr Mohammed Gambo Umar said that the PCNI had been working closely with the Office of the Vice President, the International Committee of the Red Cross and the American University of Nigeria and the PCNI has supported the North East Makeathon process to provide innovative solutions to some of the greatest challenges impeding the delivery of humanitarian aid across the region.

Engr Umar also said that the PCNI was committed in being part of the solution building process in the North East and it was the motivation that informed the coordination agency’s decision to take advantage of the large pool of talent that exists within Nigeria to solve our problems for the benefit of a region that has suffered greatly from the impact of the insurgency.

  • TY Danjuma’s Falsehood Gospel Abroad

One would have thought that, Lt General TY Danjuma (retired) has sunken to the lowest possible for any mortal but he continues to surprise even himself by continuing to dig deep, even after striking the bottom of the moral abyss into which he has plunged himself. In his twilight, this old man, one of those that set Nigeria backward, should be engaged in acts of redemption that perchance, he may still be able to salvage is mortal soul but he has instead engaged in heresy with assurance that he would forever damn himself while bequeathing a legacy of disdain for anyone remotely connected to him.

In the days that public funds were finding their ways into the private accounts of members of the several military juntas that held the country hostage, Danjuma was without religion and oblivious to whatever faith his comrades in arms professed at that time. What mattered was that he got his shares without a thought to whether there is a God that abhors theft, especially from the poor. During his infamous years as Defence Minister to Obasanjo and in the days that oil blocs landed in his laps, it never occurred to Apostle Danjuma that he was cornering the God-given resources of the predominantly Christian Niger-Delta.

Had Deacon Danjuma as much as given a thought to God’s view on primitive acquisition of mammon, he would perhaps have exercised restraint and left for the people, the rightful owners, the resources that today qualify him to be named among Africa’s richest. Assuming it was after the acquisition he found Christ the saviour, he could have at least returned whatever the spirit leads him to acknowledge as not belonging to him – not the fraction he dispenses as charity of course.

The foregoing is premised on the knowledge that, most of the problems presently plaguing the country are rooted in poverty, poverty that was born of the pillaging by the military juntas and the successor political caucus that was only recently booted out of power by popular vote. This poverty and the resulting scramble for scarce resources has been, to some extent, rightly blamed for Boko Haram insurgency, kidnap for ransom, ritual killings, banditry and more recently the so-called herdsmen related killings.

For Father Danjuma to now engage in revisionism, that absolves him of any complicity in what is currently happening in the country, borders on irresponsibility, especially when consideration is made for his age. Not only is the kind of perverted structure he and his colleagues left behind plaguing the country, his proteges have become Nigerians’ new nemesis. Confronted with a generation of Nigerians that are more aware and not willing to allow easy theft of public resources, Danjuma’s godsons have found the satanic ploy of instigating crises- not minding the human cost, so that they can keep the populace distracted by their horror shows while stuffing their bank accounts with tax payers’ money. This macabre theatre is what has been christened farmers-herders’ crisis, in which communities that once lived in peace are provoked to decimate each other to provide bases for participating governors to weep and lament about ethnic and religious cleansing.

It appears Nigerians opted to ignore Danjuma when he came up with all manner of conspiracy theories that he, further used to instigate the people in his home state of Taraba, to take up arms and kill off each other.
Coming from a man who has till date been unable to satisfactorily absolve himself of arming Junkun militias to wipe out their Tiv brethren, was hardly a surprise. What is surprising, actually nauseating, is the shamelessness that propelled the retired General to take his falsehood to the United States with his protégé, Taraba governor Darius Ishaku in tow.

Saint Danjuma wants the world to know that Christians are being massacred in Taraba, citing US President Donald Trump as his source. There is no point trying to find out why Danjuma did not use the platform of his visit to educate Trump, who had serially demonstrated and confirmed his lack of grip with basic dynamics. Philanthropist, Bill Gates had to explain the difference between HIV and HPV to him several times before he got a fuzzy sense of what both acronyms stand for. The assertion of the controversial US president that his country will not tolerate the killing of Nigerians, became Danjuma’s new testament, one that he is using in his ongoing campaign to continue obscuring the true scale of atrocities he committed against Nigerians.

This version of what is happening in Nigeria suits Danjuma’s interest. It diverts attention elsewhere, while guaranteeing that he would provoke enough anger in some quarters to further heat up the polity. The right -thinking population in Nigeria is however not unaware that Darius Ishaku, who delivered the other half of Danjuma’s prophecy at an event by the International Committee on Nigeria (ICON) in the US, provoked the crisis in Taraba state by setting, arming and financing the Mambila militia that began an ethnic cleansing on the Mambila Plateau. The resulting reprisal made international headlines but few bothered to get to the root cause of the killings there.

Another of his godsons, Samuel Ortom of Benue state, was touted as a big part of the problem in the killings desecrating the state. Ortom recruited a Boko Haram terrorist, Aliyu Teshaku, as Commander of the Livestock Guards, paid him and his lieutenants with the state’s money to keep killing the electorates to whom he is accountable. Yet, like Danjuma, Ortom too cries that Christians are being targeted even when he was the one that hired the terrorists that are killing them.

Danjuma is entitled to free speech but where the subject of discourse is Nigeria, he owes the rest of us the duty of being factual, including being sincere about his role in the current state of the country. It is an insult to Nigerians that he is now inviting the US to help clean up the mess he contributed in creating – corruption and mindless killings. In his total lack of patriotism, he could not even comprehend that he was asking for the country to be recolonized by making such a dim request, backed up with lies.

As for the lies, those are between Apostle Danjuma and God. For the wrath that befell Ananias and Sapphira for lying, is still very much potent and visiting modern day liars. One only prays that Danjuma realizes the error of plying lies, repents and finds redemption.

  • Group Accuses TY Danjuma, Ishaku Of Fueling Armed Conflict In Taraba

Group Accuses TY Danjuma, Ishaku Of Fueling Armed Conflict In TarabaA socio-political group, Middle Belt Conscience Guard has accused the former Chief of Army Staff, General Theophilus Danjuma (rtd) and the Taraba State governor, Arc. Diarus Ishaku of fueling armed conflicts in Taraba State and its environ.
The group made the allegation on Sunday in Abuja at a Press conference addressed by its national President, Prince Raymond Enero in response to the reported call by the former on citizens of Taraba State to defend themselves against armed bandits.
The group described the comments made by the former Army chief as unfortunate and unbecoming of a supposedly elder statesman who should commit to peace and unity of the nation rather than using his experience to fuel communal and ethnic crisis.
“Prior to the issuance of Danjuma’s poisonous directive, the Taraba state governor, Mr. Darius Ishaku has been fingered in the escalation of the crisis between the farming and pastoral communities in Taraba state, especially on the Mambila Plateau.
“The governor reportedly armed ethnic militias to carry out attacks on other ethnic groups, which consequently fueled reprisals in other states of the Middle-Belt and beyond. A couple of other states copied the Taraba example and armed militias with the same consequence of endless reprisals that have seen the circle of violence enter a continuous loop and spiraling across the country”, the group stated.
It further alleged that the former Army Chief was using his international connections in collaboration with some governors in the region to import weapons and arm local militia that have been perpetrating mayhem in the region.
“TY Danjuma has revealed himself as the godfather of the militias and the governors are merely field commanders. The godfather has the international connections to procure black market weapons, the limitless resources to procure the arms and the incentive to distribute them.
” His call is just an attempt to project an argument for the weapons to get on our streets”, the group maintained.
The group while insisting that the unity and peace of the country should not be sacrificed for whatever reason called on the military to ensure that weapons are taken off the hands of militia and ensure that peace thrives in the land.
It further expressed dissatisfaction that more than 24 hours after TY Danjuma made such heinous remarks, he has not yielded to reason to retrace his steps adding that he will be dragged before the competent legal authorities – domestic and international – for any life lost because of his declaration of war.
“Danjuma’s call for people to “defend yourselves” is in no way to be taken lightly. He made that call only because he has the arsenal to deploy by way of providing weapons to his ethnic group to kill others. It has happened before during the Jukun/Tiv clashes. There is no guarantee that the geo-political zone can survive another round of crisis fueled by TY Danjuma supplied weapons.
“The call made to the people to defend themselves is apparently out of frustration because the governors he uses as his field commanders have been stumped with the launch of Operation Ayem Akpatuma (Cat Race) by the Nigerian Army. The operation had led to the uncovering of the militias that were armed under different and different names but all aimed at perpetrating genocide”, the group further alleges.

  • 60 deaf students begin TY Danjuma-ACCIF vocational training in Kaduna

Not less than 60 deaf students of Government Technical College, Malali, Kaduna have been enrolled for an eight months vocational skills training in tailoring, shoe-making and business management.
The vocational skills training sponsored by the TY Danjuma Foundation and All Children Charity International Foundation (ACCIF) is a special package targeted at the challenged students of the college.
Launching the programme at the college premises yesterday, Team Leader of ACCIF, Ranti Daudu Esq. said the training was designed to make hard of hearing students job providers and employable after their educational pursuit.
According to her, “In Nigeria today, a handful number of employers say they can’t find people living with disabilities with the right skills. We therefore need to forge stronger links between the worlds of education and vocational work.”
While tasking the new trainees to take the training seriously, Daudu assured that starter packs, which include sewing machines and others would be given to the trainees after the course.
She expressed appreciation to the TY Danjuma Foundation for constantly funding ACCIF projects and promised to utilise the fund judiciously.
Representative of the Kaduna State Commissioner for Education, and Vocational Education Desk Officer, Mr. John Kantiok charged the students to take full advantage of the training, promising that, if they succeed, it would be recommended that they take the state’s school uniform sewing project.

We hope that streamlining these efforts this way will help control immediate deliveries of succor to many of the problems currently in the north east.

The Northern states occupy 70 per cent of our land mass, the highest infant mortality rate, the lowest number of children in school, the highest number of unemployed young people and the challenge of insecurity and religious crisis including Boko Haram.

“‎A nation of 170 million people, the sixth largest producer of oil, over a 100 variety of solid minerals and precious metals, thousands of arable land, largest economy in Africa yet desperately poor, over 110 million people extremely poor. Shetima said the governors had agreed to. Work together to redevelopment the region.

The governor urged federal government to develop an all inclusive development plan to really address all challenges of the state and restore peoples’ hopes.

“A comprehensive master plan that will help re-integrate the people and seek entire development of the northern Nigeria should be designed,” Shettima added.

  • Ojukwu would have stopped bloodshed – TY. Danjuma

Ojukwu would have stopped bloodshed – TY. Danjuma

The former Minister of Defence, Theophilus Danjuma on Wednesday said that former Biafrian leader, late Chukwuemeka Ojukwu would have stopped one full year of bloodshed in Nigeria if he had conceded defeat like President Goodluck Jonathan.

He made the remark shortly after President Jonathan paid him a private visit at his residence in Abuja.

They met briefly behind closed-doors before the President departed for the Presidential Villa.

Since his loss during the March 28th Presidential and National Assembly elections, President Jonathan has been having private consultations towards the handing over ceremony.

Speaking after the closed door meeting, Danjuma said Jonathan’s decision to concede defeat to Buhari, has set a record in the history of the country.

According to him, if Ojukwu had done the same thing after the fall of Enugu, when his government had to flee into the bush, he would have saved the country from more bloodshed.

He said: “The outcome of the election and the manner in which President Jonathan conceded victory to Buhari, is total un-African, it is very important in the history of Africa.

“Ojukwu didn’t do the same after the fall of Enugu. If he had conceded victory to the federal troops he would have saved the nation one full year of bloodshed.

“President Jonathan has set a history, a record as something to be emulated by the rest of Africa and indeed the whole world. It’s an excellent thing he did”.

Jonathan thanked him for his fatherly support during the election.
