    Uche Martins may return in four weeks – Maikaba

    Wikki Tourists technical adviser Abdul Maikaba has confirmed that Uche Martins could make his return to active football in the next four weeks.

    The former Plateau United forward undergone surgery on his troubled knee at Daisyland Hospital in Jos few weeks back.

    In a chat with SportingLife, Maikaba described the JUTH FC of Jos utility striker as goal poacher whose impact has been missed in the team.

    “Martins has been playing with injury for a very long time and I advised him to go for medical advice on his trouble knee. He visited a doctor at the National Orthopedic Hospital, Kano, for advice but the operation was carried out at a Hospital in Jos. Doctor said he would be out of action for six weeks and he has spent two weeks now, and hopefully he could make his way back in four weeks

    “Martins is a utility player in our team and we called him ‘Maggi’ because he provides something extra ordinary to the team. He always gives his best anytime he has chance to play. We are missing him already and I can only pray for him to return as a better player,” Maikaba said.

    Wikki Tourists forward, Uche Martins has undergone surgery on his troubled knee.

    The former Plateau United and JUTH FC forward told AfricanFootball.com that it was a successful operation after he had tried hard to see if the injury would go without him going under the doctor’s knife.

    “My knee has been operated on,” he told AfricanFootball.com.

    “It was done at Daisyland Hospital in Jos on Thursday. I have been trying to avoid operation for a while to see if it will heal, but it  didn’t. I hope to be back stronger.”

    Martins attempted a comeback earlier this season, but the knee complaint persisted.

    Wikki Tourists forward Uche Martins will not be available for his team for the next four weeks due to a knee injury.

    The former JUTH FC and Plateau United player told AfricanFootball.com he is nursing a knee injury, which he has made his visit a specialist at the Bimma Hospital in Jos.

    “I have been having pain on my knee, in fact, I was injected to play our game against Rangers on March 6 in Enugu,” Martins informed AfricanFootball.com.

    “I went to Bimma Hospital in Jos, where I was treated and was told I will be back in a month’s time. I spent almost a week in the hospital while the treatment was on.”

    Lobi Stars of Makurdi are still searching for their first win of the season after Uche Martin’s penalty earned Wikki Tourist a 1-0 win over them.

    A dull first half ended 0-0 with nothing really seperating the both teams as they contained each other for 45 minutes.

    Ten minutes after the break, Lobi Stars came close to taking the lead but Abdulrahman Bashir making his debut for the Makurdi side headed wide from a pin point Josiah Maduabuchi cross.

    About 15 minutes from the end of the game, the home side were awarded a penalty, following an incident of ball handling in the box.

    Lobi Stars protested the decision, but Uche Martins converted smartly after the protest died down, to give his side the lead in the game.

    Try as they could Lobi Stars were restricted to long range efforts and half chances,as Wikki, although not at their best, hung on to pick up all points to continue their brilliant start to the season.
