Dutch club VVV Venlo will off load ex-Nigeria U-20 star, Uche Nwofor, after its relegation to the lower division.

After flirting with relegation for several seasons, VVV’s demotion to the lower league was confirmed after finishing 17th on the Dutch top flight table.

“Nwofor is one of the top stars VVV Venlo will now have to let go after they were relegated,” a top source informed MTNFootball.com.

VVV once paraded a huge contingent of Nigeria players, but last season Alex Nkume’s contract was not renewed, Ahmed Musa departed to Russian club CSKA Moscow, while Michael Uchebo moved to Cercle Brugge in Belgium.

Nwofor joined the modest club in 2011 months after he finished top scorer at the African Youth Championship in South Africa, which Nigeria won.

He scored five goals in 27 matches in his debut season and scored eight goals this past season.

He had turned down several bigger profiled clubs including Portuguese giants Benfica to sign for VVV.
