    Fast-Rising Nigerian singer-songwriter Uchechi Emelonye has officially announced ‘Chechii’ as her new professional name.

     “This new chapter represents my journey toward embracing who I am creatively and personally.  Chechii feels authentic and reflects the artist I’m evolving into: bold, fresh, and confident.,” she explained.

    Chechii, whose music has captivated audiences with hits like ‘Underwater,’ and ‘Foolish,’ shared that the name change is part of her vision to create a unique and memorable identity in the music industry.

    She further stated that the name change comes at a pivotal moment in her career as she plans to release a series of new projects that highlight her versatility and artistry.

    Afrosoul sensation, Uchechi Emelonye has lent her voice of support to heartbroken women, especially in Nigeria by calling out men who are fond of breaking their promises and taking for granted the emotions of decent ladies in their lives.

    During a chat in Lagos, Uchechi dedicated her new song, ‘Foolish’ to Nigerian ladies in this category and urged them to move on with their lives.

    According to her, “It’s a special dedication to very decent ladies out there who are being ‘served breakfast’ by their men. In reality it is not a sign of weakness to fall in love. They should realise that the guys taking advantage of decent ladies and toying with their emotions are Foolish. They should keep their heads up and learn to let go and say goodbye. They will definitely meet the right guy who truly deserves them.”

    ‘Foolish’ is one of the wave-making tracks out of the newly released ‘Mixed Emotions’ album by Emelonye under the Emelux Records’ imprint. Other tracks contained in the album are: My Time, First Time, Over You, Dance and Margins.

    One week after the official release of her debut EP entitled ‘Mixed Emotions,’ Uchechi Emelonye has continued to break boundaries.

    The newly released EP has garnered a historic feat of over 10,000 streams on Audiomack in 48 hours.

    On the stage, the Afrosoul Princess was at Mainland Block Party alongside DJ Neptunes for a show themed: ‘Last Daze of Summer’, where fans went giddy with her song, ‘Foolish.’

    She equally thrilled fans at the Beat FM/Naija FM NYSC Show. The mainstream media was also not left out in the recognition for her enormous talent as Channels Television headlined her as the ‘Artiste of the Week’ on their popular weekend magazine TV show, Sunrise Daily.

    The new album, ‘Mixed Emotions’ takes listeners on a journey through the various stages of love, heartache, and self-discovery.

    The EP, with six tracks, collectively tells the story of an ambitious lady who is demanding for her time in the music industry to shine and do great things.
