  • Mbaka: our support for Ugwuanyi’s re-election indisputable

SPIRITUAL Director of the Adoration Ministry Enugu, Nigeria (AMEN) Rev. Ejike Mbaka has reiterated his ministry’s support for the re-election of Enugu State Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi in 2019.

“It is unquestionable; Adoration Ministry, Enugu, Nigeria, stands for him; he is a good man; a man of peace; a perfect genius; humble and ever patient,” the cleric said.

Fr. Mbaka, who spoke during the ministry’s 2018 Harvest and Thanksgiving Mass at its arena in Enugu, was happy that Ugwuanyi had entrenched peace and good governance in the state.

The mass was also celebrated for Ugwuanyi, other candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), members of the House of Assembly, State Executive Council, PDP campaign organisation, among others, to herald the start of campaigns for the 2019 elections, as well as entrust the activities to the hands of God.

The mass was attended by Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi, PDP Vice Presidential Candidate Peter Obi, and Imo State governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Hope Uzodinma,  among others.

The cleric, who extolled Ugwuanyi’s leadership qualities, lauded him for “uniting all political parties” and ensuring equitable development across the  three senatorial districts.

He said: “Enugu State has not had a leader like him. I have never seen this kind of unquestionable, magnetic, pragmatic and dynamic peace in Enugu State before, because of one Gburugburu. Ugwuanyi has no enemy; he is a governor who has good relationship with the Nwodo family, Senator Fide Okoro, Senator Ken Nnamani, Senator Jim Nwobodo, Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani and other leaders.

“Gburugburu is the ‘Messi’ in the field. Anybody who is contesting against him where does he get his strength? Our support for the governor is indisputable.  The Adoration Ministry loves him because since the creation of Enugu State, we have not seen this type of peace. Enugu is an epitome of peace and security. So far so good”, Mbaka said.”

The cleric praised Umahi for his development initiative in Ebonyi State and endorsed his re-election in 2019.

  • IT expert canvasses for Ugwuanyi’s re-election

United States-based Information Technology (IT) expert Prof Linus Eze has urged residents of Enugu State to re-elect Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

He noted that the governor deserves a second term for his performances.

Prof. Eze served in the New York Department for Education for 25 years as Curriculum Developer and Information Technology (IT) instructor.

He argued that Ugwuanyi needs a second term to consolidate his “superlative” feat.

The Igwe-elect of Ada-Ogwa Nato community, Umuida in Igbo-Eze North Local Government has been invited by his people to head the community upon retirement in the U.S., in appreciation of his contributions to its development.

The strategic crusader for Ugwuanyi’s 2015 victory under the Gburu Gburu Support Group (GGSG) in U.S., said: “It is not easy to find a governor, in this clime, who is loved by virtually everybody.

“Here is a governor who has been able to tidy the state under one fold and you see the opposition parties and stakeholders co-existing peacefully with the incumbent under rare rancor-free atmosphere.”

He hailed Ugwuanyi’s forthrightness, focus, people-orientation and empathy, stressing that the governor is a silent achiever, who is not interested in blowing his trumpet like most politicians.

On his expected role as the traditional ruler of his community, Eze described his election as an honour and call for more service.  He said his major focus would be to empower his people, make several of them employable and job creators to roll back poverty.

Eze added that prior to his election, he was wrapping up plans to establish a mega IT training centre and skill acquisition institute – a subsidiary of his New York-based Easy Budget Computers company – to empower the people.

  • Senator Tinubu supports Ugwuanyi’s re-election

    •Inaugurates project in Enugu

The Chairman, Senate Committee on Environment, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has extolled the leadership virtues of Enugu State Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, describing him as “a good and humble man” who she will wish to see return to office in 2019.

Tinubu spoke in Enugu when she represented President Muhammadu Buhari to inaugurate the gully erosion control and road improvement work executed by the Federal Government at Awlaw, Orji River Local Government Area.

She hailed the peaceful atmosphere in the state and the warm hospitality accorded members of the committee.

Her words: “The people are lucky to have you as governor and I wish to see you re-elected in 2019.”

Senator Tinubu noted that the project is one of the 18 ecological intervention projects approved by Mr. President for the first quarter of 2017, stressing that the intervention has brought relief to the people.

Ugwuanyi thanked President Muhammadu Buhari “for approving this important project”, saying “it has not only brought succour to our people, but will reduce the threat posed by gully erosion and other ecological issues”.

The governor thanked Senator Tinubu and the committee for contributing to the success of the project.

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to continue to “support and partner the Federal Government and donor agencies to combat gully erosion and other ecological threats in Enugu State.

Group to mobilise for Ugwuanyi’s re-election

    •Governor signs N103.5b budget

A group, the Gburugburu Continuity and Equity Group 2019-2023, has vowed to mobilise support to actualise the re-election of Enugu State Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

It said it would rally eligible citizens to register and obtain their voters card ahead of next year’s elections.

The group’s General Coordinator, Nze Sam Nwanze, who spoke after its inauguration at Royal Palace Hotel, Enugu, said Ugwuanyi “deserves the people’s support due to his wonderful leadership style of equity and fairness to all”.

Nwanze will be assisted by a lawyer, Sunday Egbo, who will serve as his deputy, among other interim officers.

He said: “First, the group will strive to mobilise the people to support the governor all through his tour of duty in the Government House, as long as he is doing the wish of the people who elected him.

“We will not only support his 2019 ambition, but will continue to back him till 2023, when he will hand over to another worthy person to continue the good works, and even surpass him.

“We will also embark on voter education so that citizens will know the importance of their votes to good governance. It is instructive to note that during the 2015 elections, of about 70 million possible voters, less than 30 million voted. Where were others? One could ask.

“Our membership drive will be through online registration and physical mode. We are targeting about one million members, most of who may be youths.

“Our movement is planned to endure, unlike some of the pressure groups which emerge to profess their support at any particular election period and fizzle out thereafter.

“There will not be any discrimination of any type for membership, provided aspiring members share our dream and vision. Our people in the Diaspora, who will be willing to join us, will be welcomed.”

The group will be formally unveiled soon, Nwanze added.

Ugwuanyi yesterday signed the N103.5 billion budget for the 2018 fiscal year.

The governor promised to fully implement the budget for the people’s benefit and rapid development of the state.

At the ceremony were his Deputy, Mrs. Cecilia Ezeilo, members of the State Executive Council; lawmakers led by the Speaker, Edward Ubosi; Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Augustine Nnamani, among other top government functionaries.

Ugwuanyi noted that the House, after due deliberations, increased the budget size from N98 billion to N103 billion. He hailed the lawmakers for the speedy and considerate passage of the budget, and the “wonderful” cooperation they have accorded the government since inception.

The Speaker hailed Ugwuanyi for the modest budget, which he said reduced both the internal and external borrowing to 16 per cent. He described the governor as a good manager.
