A non-governmental organisation (NGO), Purple Dove Foundation, has donated gift items and cash to indigent patients at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital (UATH) in Gwagwalada to reduce financial burdens on them.
The foundation’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Princess Amara Ifechuckwu, announced that the donation was part of the organisation’s efforts to put smiles on the faces of the less-privileged in the society and to reassure them that they are not forgotten.
Team Leader Segun David said the foundation presented the gifts and cash to the indigent patients to ease their financial burdens and contribute to giving them a better and healthy living.
Those who received cash gifts included an orphan – N13,000; a patient, Mrs. Ogechi Eze – N20,000; Hajiya Mariam – N10,000, and other patients – N15,000 each.

The foundation played three games among the patients and children on admission at the hospital.
A primary four pupil, Miss Mordiya Abdulwahab, came first, winning N15,000 cash and a gift, while the second and third winners got N10,000 each.
On the second segment of the game, Miss Success Edet came first and won a Holy Bible and N10,000 cash prize; Miss Mordiya Abdulwahab came second and received a gift with N10,000; while a boy who took the third position received a gift item.
The hospital’s Chief Medical Director (CMD), Prof. Bissallah Ahmed Ekele, hailed the foundation for its kind gesture.
He urged other well-meaning Nigerians to emulate the donors.
The CMD, who was represented by the hospital’s Public Relations Officer, Sani Sulieman, said the NGO’s generosity had touched the lives of the indigent patients and hospital workers.
“We extend our sincere appreciation to the Purple Dove Foundation for their generosity, kind gesture, thoughtfulness, and commitment to caring for humanity,” he said.
