A group, Uvwies in Diaspora, has called on President Bola Tinubu and Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to probe some former senior Army officers involved in the illegal acquisition of portions of Uvwieland in Delta state, as well as collection of ground rents through middle men.
The call for investigation followed the court victory over illegal acquisition of portions of Uvwieland in Ohore community, by the Nigerian Army.
It also gave kudos to the Ovie of Uvwie kingdom, HRM Emmanuel Ekemejewa Sideso, Abe 1, for the win.
Recall that a Delta High Court sitting in Effurun, Tuesday, February 13, declared null and void the acquisition of parts of Ohore 1 community by the military, further fining it a sum of N1 million for trespassing.

In a statement Saturday, the group’s coordinator, Chief (Dr.) Ogheneovo Amurun, a security expert and University lecturer based in the United Kingdom, applauded the monarch for his relentless efforts in reclaiming all Uvwieland from speculators and land grabbers who have by their actions brought untold hardship to the original owners.
The group described as inhumane the army’s action allowing a few officers to convert public and community land to their personal estates and selling community land solely for their benefit.
It called on President Tinubu to investigate about N405 million allegedly paid by Chevron employers to some former senior army officers to enable them acquire a large portion of Uvwieland and the illegal collection of ground rent by some middlemen for some army officers
Expressing gratitude to the Delta state governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for supporting Uvwie in recovery of the land, the Uvwies in Diaspora saluted the Uvwie people for their patience in following the judiciary process for about 10 years without resorting to violence.
