Summer Transfer: Osimhen opens talk with Manchester United

Manchester United have  reportedly opened talks with Victor Osimhen to convince him to move to Old Trafford, even as Galatasaray president Dursun Ozbek responds to speculation on the striker’s future.

One of the areas that Man United  are desperate to strengthen in the summer transfer window is attack. Rasmus Hojlund has not proven to be prolific in front of goal, while Joshua Zirkzee is not a natural number nine.

Man United  head coach Ruben Amorim is keen on signing a new striker this summer, and one of the players on the Red Devils’ radar is Osimhen.

TEAMtalk’s Italian football correspondent, Rudy Galetti, claimed that Man United  are “concretely interested” in Osimhen.

The Nigeria international striker is on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli until the end of the season and has a release clause of €75million (£64m, $85m) in his contract with the Serie A giants.

Sources have told TEAMtalk that for Man United to be able to sign Osimhen this summer, they need to qualify for the Champions League.

Amorim’s side have a very good chance of progressing to the Europa League final this season after winning the first leg of the semi-final tie 3-0 against Athletic Bilbao away from home in Spain last week.

TuttoJuve has now revealed that Man United  have ‘started talks with Victor Osimhen’.

The Premier League giants are said to have ‘identified the Nigerian striker as a priority to strengthen’ their squad for next season.

The Italian news outlet has noted Juventus’s interest in Osimhen, who has scored 33 goals and provided eight assists in 37 appearances for Galatasaray this season.

Meanwhile, TEAMtalk claimed that Galatasaray will not be able to pay the release clause in Osimhen’s contract and would need Napoli to lower the fee to get a deal done.

Galatasaray president Ozbek spoke about Osimhen’s future this week and noted, as quoted on beIN SPORTS: “85 million people in Turkiye come to me with the same question.

“We are in a race right now, the race in football is not over. Transfers are at the beginning of June.

“Nobody should think about who to buy or sell. We are focused on the field. We have 5 matches ahead of us. We are working to win all 5 matches and make our fans happy.

“There is no transfer on our agenda right now. We will share our thoughts when the time comes.”

Former Turkish referee Ahmet Cakar does not think that Osimhen will be at Galatasaray next season.

Cakar told the Turkish media: “In my opinion, Osimhen is one of the best foreigners in Galatasaray’s history.

“He is very young and has a lot of talent. Of course, it is his dream and right to go to a big team from the best leagues in the world.

“I don’t think he can stay at Galatasaray. This has nothing to do with money or wealth. So what happens when Osimhen leaves?”

‘ World’s best striker’ Osimhen  named in Liverpool’s summer’s wish list

English Premier League champions, Liverpool, are  reportedly  back in the hunt for  Nigeria International striker, Victor Osimhen,  with  coach Arne Slot presumably  ready to bolster  his attack  in the summer ahead of  next season.

The Reds have cruised all season in the top-flight, failing to be knocked off top spot since the start of November, and with a revitalised squad under Arne Slot, they could look to spend big money in the summer to keep themselves at the top of the perch.

That may include a move for Osimhen, who will see his future largely deliberated over this summer – and a striker is at the top of the Dutchman’s wish list.

TalkSPORT claimed that Liverpool will attack the market in the summer transfer window as they bid to retain their Premier League title – with Osimhen being lined up as a potential target, having been called the ‘world’s best striker’ by Nigerian coach Daniel Ogunmodede.

The Reds are expected to be busy in the transfer  market this summer  with  Uruguayan  striker Darwin Nunez expected  to be sold so that the Anfield giants  could ‘splash the cash’ on a striker in the coming months.

Goals have been hard to come by for Liverpool’s strikers, with wide forward Mohamed Salah taking on that burden with 33 strikes to his name this season, and that could see Osimhen arrive, with the report stating that he is a contender to lead the line at Anfield from next season onwards, potentially eclipsing supposedly  top target Alexander Isak.

Osimhen scored 26 goals in 32 games for Napoli in their Scudetto win back in 2022/23, and although he was loaned out of the Serie A club to Galatasaray at the start of the campaign, he’s been bang  in form in Turkey with 33 goals in 37 games throughout all competitions.

Osimhen expresses desire to stay at Galatasaray, Cools Victor Osimhen has played down renewed speculation linking him with a move to the Premier League, suggesting he would prefer to remain at Galatasaray.

The Nigerian striker, currently on loan from Napoli, has impressed in Turkey and continues to be one of the most highly regarded forwards in European football.

Osimhen has long been the subject of interest from English clubs, with Chelsea and Manchester United reportedly monitoring his situation.

While Chelsea failed to reach an agreement with Napoli last season, Manchester United have also been linked with a potential move—especially with reports that the forward could be available for a reduced fee of around £40 million this summer.

With Osimhen’s loan spell in Istanbul set to conclude at the end of the season and his future at Napoli appearing uncertain, speculation had intensified that a Premier League transfer could be imminent. However, recent comments from the player suggest otherwise.

Speaking about his time at Galatasaray, Osimhen said: “It’s a great feeling. It’s great that they [young fans] are inspired by watching me.” His remarks indicate a strong connection with the club and its supporters, hinting at a desire to continue his journey in Turkey.

While interest from England may persist, Osimhen’s comments have cast doubt on the likelihood of a cut-price summer move to the Premier League—at least for now.

Former  Super Eagles  captain John Mikel Obi  has yet  affirmed that Victor Osimhen  will  team up with Chelsea this summer , adding the Napoli  loanee to Galatasaray is desirous  about  breaking  the  scoring feats  established  by his idol, Didier Drogba, at the Stamford Bridge.

]Osimhen was rescued by Galatasaray last summer after failing to secure a permanent move away from Napoli and has enjoyed his time in Turkey after featuring 26 times in the Süper Lig this season, scoring 22 goals and providing five assists.

“He wants to play for Chelsea,” said Mikel on beIN SPORTS. “I know where we stopped in terms of the contract, I know where we are. It’s an easy fix, because we’ve done all the hard work last summer.”

“Listen, I hope it happens because I can see great things happening. I can see a great partnership happening, I can see a player coming in and becoming a massive legend for this football club.

“Make no mistake, if Victor Osimhen comes to Chelsea he will want to break records, he will want to put himself top, top (up) there. His idol is (Didier) Drogba, he will want to go after his record, he will want to score goals, win us trophies, get us back to the top.

“That would be his mission. His hunger when he plays, the ambition when he plays is something that few players have, the arrogance he has, the feistiness he has that you need to be able to succeed in the Premier League as a top striker.”

Juventus make highest 70 million euros  offer for Osimhen

Juventus have reportedly  submitted the highest offer for Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, 26, valued at €70m, as the Italian giants aim to strengthen their attack.

Manchester United, who were previously linked with Osimhen, have ruled out a move for the Nigerian international.

Osimhen’s impressive form has attracted interest from several top clubs, but Juventus are leading the chase with their lucrative bid.

Meanwhile, transfer expert, David Ornstein, has claimed  that  Paris Saint Germain have  also came into the transfer picture for Osimhen after Manchester United  reportedly dropped  their interest.

PSG  have been keeping tabs on Osimhen for a while now, and with the summer transfer window approaching, talk around his future is heating up.

Currently playing for Galatasaray, the Nigerian striker has found his groove again, showing the same form that made him one of Europe’s hottest talents back in the 2022-23 season. • Juventus opt for Lookman over Osimhen

Juventus opt for Lookman over Osimhen

Man United secure agreement in principle’ for Napoli loanee

With reports increasing that Victor Osimhen agreed personal terms with Manchester United, now Juventus are turning towards Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman.

The Nigeria international is still owned by Napoli during his loan spell with Galatasaray, but is set for a sale this summer, perhaps for less than the €75m release clause in his contract.

Multiple reports in Turkey and Italy  have suggested over the last few days that Osimhen agreed personal terms with Manchester United.

If confirmed, it would mean Juventus have to look elsewhere for a new striker and Calciomercato.com claimed  the most likely candidate is Lookman.

It would confirm a trend of poaching from Atalanta, where they paid €60m including bonuses to get Teun Koopmeiners last year.

A similar price-tag would be appended to Lookman, who is eager to move on following a row with Coach Gian Piero Gasperini.

The 27-year-old Nigeria international can play in a variety of attacking roles and this season contributed 18 goals with seven assists in 36 competitive games.

Before taking any further steps, Juventus would need to confirm their Champions League qualification, as failure would drastically reduce the transfer and salary budget.

Meanwhile, according to reporting in Turkey and by Tuttosport in Italy, United’s simmering interest in Osimhen, currently on loan at Galatasaray, is very real and making progress.

“TuttoSport claimed  that Manchester United now have an ‘agreement in principle’ with Osimhen’s entourage over the striker’s salary, amidst keen interest from Juventus and their sporting director Cristiano Guintoli,” relays Sport Witness.

The Nigerian international has been one of the hottest attacking properties in football for some time and has scored 21 times in 25 Super Lig appearances this season, firing the Istanbul giants to a probable title.

With another 65 goals to his name in Serie A, admiring glances from Juventus and Man United  were inevitable.

If talks are indeed moving along as reported, the next challenge for the Red Devils is to offload the players to unlock Osimhen’s punchy €75m release clause and make room for him in the squad.
