  • Six Asian countries with cheapest visa fees for Nigerians

Six Asian countries with cheapest visa fees for Nigerians

For many Nigerians, the cost of securing a visa is often the first major obstacle when planning an international trip. This financial hurdle, combined with other travel expenses, can make the idea of exploring new countries seem more like a dream than a possibility.

Several Asian countries offer affordable visa options that make international travel more accessible for Nigerians.

Here are six Asian countries with cheapest visa fees:

    1. Japan:

Japan is one of the most budget-friendly countries in terms of visa fees, charging ₦12,500. The Japanese visa process is quite strict: applicants must book an appointment well in advance and submit their documents in person at the Embassy in Abuja. These documents include a valid passport, a completed application form, a passport-sized photo, proof of sufficient funds, and confirmed flight and accommodation bookings. Even minor applicants must appear in person to submit their documents, though appointments for them can be scheduled by a parent or guardian.

    2. Vietnam:

Vietnam is another affordable option, offering a single-entry visa for ₦37,500. This same fee also applies to children under the age of 14. Nigerian travellers must have a passport valid for at least six months with two blank pages, and they are required to show financial proof and a completed application form. Attention to detail is crucial, as errors or missing documents could lead to delays.

    3. Singapore:

In Singapore, the visa costs ₦45,000, and the application is handled online. Payment must be made with a Visa or MasterCard, and applicants need to upload their valid passport, a recent photograph, proof of financial means, and a detailed travel itinerary. Although the standard processing time is three working days, some applications may take longer, especially if additional documents are required based on the travel purpose.

    4. South Korea:

South Korea’s visa process is a bit more involved. A short-term single-entry visa costs ₦60,000, while longer visits cost ₦90,000. The application requires a valid passport, photo, financial statements, hotel reservations, return ticket, and a valid Nigerian identification document issued within the last five years. Processing typically takes between 10 to 15 business days. As with many other countries, visa fees are non-refundable, regardless of the outcome.

    5. Thailand:

Thailand offers a tourist e-visa for ₦65,000. Applicants need to provide standard travel documents along with a police clearance certificate and a drug clearance certificate. A confirmed return ticket, accommodation proof, and a completed application form are also necessary. Applications should be made four to six weeks before the travel date but not more than three months in advance.

    6. Sri Lanka:

Sri Lanka charges ₦75,000 for a double-entry tourist visa valid for 30 days. Nigerian travellers must submit a valid passport, passport photograph, travel itinerary, and proof of financial means such as a bank statement. All visa fees are non-refundable and non-transferable, so it’s important to ensure that every document is complete and correct before applying.

FULL LIST: Countries that offer Nigerians five-year multiple entry visa

Nigerian passport holders seeking long-term access to foreign countries for business, tourism, or family visits can now benefit from more liberal visa policies offered by several nations.

Some countries grant Nigerians a five-year multiple entry visa, allowing holders to enter and exit the destination several times without applying for a new visa for each trip.

These long-duration visas significantly ease the burden of frequent travel, reduce costs, and enhance convenience, especially for business professionals and diaspora families.

Frequent travelers, business professionals, and individuals with consistent international travel history are generally more likely to qualify for long-term visas.

Here is a list of countries that offer Nigerians a five-year multiple entry visa.

    1. United States of America (USA)
The U.S. offers a B1/B2 visa, which covers business and tourism, with a validity of five years for eligible Nigerians. It allows multiple entries, and applicants must apply through the U.S. Embassy or Consulate. An in-person interview is usually required, and approval depends on the travel history, financial status, and purpose of travel.

    2. United Kingdom
The UK offers a Standard Visitor Visa with long-term options of two, five, or ten years. Nigerians can apply for the five-year version, which allows multiple entries but limits each stay to six months. Applications are submitted online through the UK government portal, and approval requires evidence of a genuine travel purpose, financial means, and intent to return to Nigeria.

    3. Schengen Countries (Europe)
Several Schengen countries, including France, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, and Spain, grant Nigerians five-year multiple entry visas under the Schengen Visa Code. These are C-Type short-stay visas that allow stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period across the Schengen zone. While not automatically granted, applicants with previous Schengen visas, clean travel records, and valid reasons for frequent visits may be approved for the five-year validity.

    4. South Africa
South Africa offers multiple entry visas valid for up to five years for Nigerians who frequently travel for business or official duties. Applicants must apply through the South African High Commission and provide documentation such as invitation letters, proof of business activities, or travel history to justify the long-term access.

    6. Kenya
While Kenya’s standard eVisa is short-term, it issues long-term multiple-entry visas, including five-year options, upon request and proper justification. These are often given to frequent travelers, business people, or those with family or project commitments in the country. Applications can be made through the Kenyan eVisa portal or directly through immigration services.

    7. United Arab Emirates (UAE)
The UAE offers a five-year tourist visa to Nigerians who meet specific requirements. This visa allows multiple entries and stays of up to 90 days each, extendable to 180 days per year. Applicants must show proof of financial means, previous travel history, and a valid reason for seeking long-term access. Applications are typically handled online or through approved agents.

  • Nine documents Nigerians need for a dependent Visa

Nine documents Nigerians need for a dependent Visa

Applying for a dependent visa can be a detailed and sometimes challenging process, requiring careful planning and accurate documentation. To ensure a successful application, it’s important to demonstrate your relationship with the sponsor, financial stability, and compliance with all immigration requirements.

Errors or missing documents can result in delays, visa denials, or even long-term bans, so understanding what is needed before starting your application is essential.

Here are the list of documents required for a dependent visa:

    1. A valid passport

The main form of identification for a dependent visa application is a valid passport.  It must be up to date and valid for the entire planned stay in the country of destination.  In certain situations, applicants might also be asked to submit copies of their prior passports as proof of their travel history.  To prevent needless processing delays, it’s also crucial to make sure the passport has vacant pages for visa stamps.

    2. Evidence of a relationship

In order to demonstrate a valid relationship with the sponsor, candidates need to present formal records attesting to their affiliation.  Spouses must have a marriage certificate, and dependent children must have a birth certificate.  Adoption proceedings need the submission of official adoption documents.  A civil partnership certificate is required for civil partners.  Additional supporting documentation, such as joint financial documents, correspondence, and images, may bolster the application and demonstrate the legitimacy of the connection if it has already been registered in another country.

    3. Dependent children’s birth certificates

For applications that include dependent children, their birth certificates are required to verify their relationship with the sponsor. The birth certificate must clearly state the names of the parents to avoid discrepancies. In situations where a child has a legal guardian instead of biological parents, legal guardianship documents must be submitted. If the child was born in a country where birth certificates are not standard, alternative evidence such as hospital records or affidavits may be necessary to confirm the parent-child relationship.

    4. Proof of funds of the sponsor

The sponsor must demonstrate financial stability and the ability to support the dependent(s) without recourse to public funds. This can be proven through bank statements covering at least the last six months, recent pay slips, tax returns, or a formal sponsorship declaration letter. If the sponsor is self-employed, business registration documents, profit and loss statements, and tax filings may be required. The financial evidence should reflect a consistent and adequate income stream to reassure the immigration authorities that the dependent will be properly supported during their stay.

    5. Medical examination results

Applying for a dependent visa can be a complex process, requiring careful preparation and attention to detail. Whether you are joining a spouse, parent, or guardian in a foreign country, it is essential to provide the right documentation to prove your relationship with the sponsor, financial stability, and compliance with immigration requirements. Missing or incorrect documents can lead to delays, rejections, or even long-term entry bans, making it crucial to understand what is needed before beginning the application process.

    6. Proof of the sponsor’s employment

To further confirm financial stability, the sponsor must submit documents verifying their employment status. This includes an official employment contract, a letter from their employer confirming their job title, salary, and length of employment, and recent pay slips. If the sponsor is self-employed, they must provide business registration documents, tax filings, and financial statements. Some immigration authorities may also request a letter from the sponsor’s employer indicating that they are aware of and support the dependent visa application, reinforcing the legitimacy of the application.

    7. Proof of Main Visa Holder’s Status

These are the documents that confirm the legal immigration status of the person you’re dependent on (usually your spouse, parent, or partner) in the country you’re applying to. These documents show that the main visa holder is authorized to live, work, or study in that country and that you’re eligible to join them.

    8. Police Clearance Certificate

A Police Clearance Certificate (PCC) is an official document issued by the police or a government agency that confirms whether or not a person has a criminal record. It’s often required for long-term visas (like dependent, work, study, or PR visas), especially if you’re 18 or older.

    9. Additional supporting documents (comparable to certificate of eligibility)

Depending on the country of application, additional supporting documents may be required to fulfill visa conditions. These may include proof of suitable accommodation, such as a rental agreement or property ownership documents, to ensure the dependent has a place to stay. A letter of invitation from the sponsor outlining their commitment to supporting the dependent may also be necessary. In cases where the sponsor holds specific immigration status, documents proving their legal residency, such as a residence permit or visa approval notice, must be submitted. Each country may have unique documentation requirements, so applicants must carefully review the specific guidelines set by the immigration authorities.
