Initiative to boost Nigeria’s image, attract foreign investors unveiled in Abuja

A new national campaign aimed at reshaping global perceptions of Nigeria and strengthening connections with its diaspora community has been launched in Abuja.

The Visit Nigeria Initiative, endorsed by the Federal Government, seeks to position the country as a prime destination for tourism, culture, and investment.

The unveiling ceremony, held in the nation’s capital over the weekend, also featured the appointment of British-Nigerian strategist and author, Charmaine Hayden, as the project’s inaugural Brand Ambassador.

According to the organisers, the initiative is a long-term strategic platform that blends cultural diplomacy, economic engagement, and digital innovation to attract both visitors and investors.

Founder and Project Director of the Visit Nigeria Initiative, Iyad Ghraizi, described the programme as a formal invitation for the world to experience Nigeria beyond stereotypes, through initiatives that drive real economic growth and national pride.

“Nigeria’s story is one of courage, creativity, and unstoppable potential,” Ghraizi said. “The Visit Nigeria Initiative is a formal invitation for the world to experience that firsthand. We are moving beyond talk to building real solutions that welcome the world, engage our global family, and drive economic growth.”

In her remarks, Hayden said the initiative is not only about tourism promotion but also about building a sustainable national identity and expanding economic opportunities.

“This is about more than visibility,” she said. “It’s about building the infrastructure—mental, cultural, and economic—that enables people to invest in, identify with, and believe in Nigeria’s future. We are creating pathways for meaningful investment and partnership.”

Also speaking, commercial pilot and humanitarian Enoch Danbaba announced a partnership with the initiative to further amplify positive national representation.

“Our narrative has been written by others for too long,” he said. “It is time we take ownership of our story. Visit Nigeria is the platform through which we will showcase our authenticity, our beauty, and our spirit to the world.”

The Visit Nigeria Initiative aims to serve as a bridge between Nigerians at home and abroad, while opening new doors for cultural exchange, tourism, and foreign investment.
