Vitel Wireless set for nationwide rollout

Nigeria’s telecommunications sector is set for a major boost as Vitel Wireless Limited, the country’s newest GSM operator licensed by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), prepares to launch its nationwide operations.

The move signals a new phase in Nigeria’s telecom evolution, with Vitel Wireless positioning itself as more than a communications provider, but a technology-driven platform integrating connectivity, safety, and smart systems.

Ahead of the launch, Executive Chairman, Vitel Wireless, Engr. Kenneth Nwabueze, described the initiative as “a movement toward a smarter, safer, and more connected Nigeria.”

According to him, the company’s mission is to redefine mobile communication through technology that connects and protects people. “Our goal is to bridge technology and humanity, using mobile innovation to improve lives, empower businesses, and strengthen national security,” he said.

Vitel Wireless, he explained, has established interconnectivity with major Mobile Network Operators (MNOs), MTN, Airtel, and Glo, and secured a nationwide roaming agreement with MTN. This, he noted, extends Vitel’s coverage to rank among the largest in the country.

The company has also partnered with the NCC and law enforcement agencies to strengthen regulatory frameworks that promote safety and innovation within Nigeria’s telecom space.

Executive Director of the company said Vitel’s experience positions it as both a technology partner and a regulatory ally, driving the next phase of Nigeria’s digital growth.

“Our work goes beyond providing voice and data services. We are building a platform that integrates intelligence, safety, and efficiency, enabling both people and systems to function better,” he stated.

Engr. Nwabueze said the nationwide rollout would “usher in a new era for the telecom industry, one where connectivity meets intelligence, and technology serves both purpose and people.”

Vitel supports New Yam Festival in Anambra

It was glitz and glamour at Akanano village in the ancient town of Ogidi, Anambra State, recently as Vitel Wireless, the first Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) in the country, pulled its strength at the 2025 edition of the annual Akanano Ogidi New Yam Fstival with colourful activities.

The event, which attracted massive turnout, is an ancient culture and tradition of Akanano Ogidi when the people relax and make merry after harvesting their new yam in appreciation to God for guiding them through the tedious months of farming.

Vitel Wireless sponsored the event as part of its corporate social responsibility. Also in attendance were High Chiefs, Ndi Ichie Akanano, women and the children with assorted masquerades performing in turns to rev the conviviality.

The occasion was also used to launch a 10km road drainage construction and installation of street lights to boost development in the village.

In his address, the Traditional Prime Minister of Akanano, High Chief Emeka Ken Nwabueze (Ajie Okpalla Ogidi), described the festival as a time when the people converge to appreciate the goodness of God following good harvests in the farm.

He noted that Akanano, which is the first born among the four quarters that make up the ancient town of Ogidi, is well endowed to the glory of God.

Reiterating God’s endowments on the people, the Vitel Wireless boss announced the launch of a dual project of 10km road drainage construction and installation of streetlight to be embarked upon by the good people of Akanano on a self-help basis, adding that the dual project is to boost movement, security and nightlife needed to enhance the economy of the village.

He donated N20 million for the dual project and called on the people to appreciate the goodness of God by providing their widow’s might to support the project.

In his remarks, the MD/Chief Operation Officer (COO) of Vitel Wireless, Mr. Chudi Nwabueze, explained that the company deemed it good enough to sponsor the festival to connect urban and rural dwellers with its innovative goods and services in communication business.

He said the festival provided both urban and rural dwellers the opportunity to buy into the nationwide programme of the company  tagged “Operation Double your Hustle,”  which has several offers including the opportunity to onboard 3,000 entrepreneurs, distributors and agents nationwide within a short period.
