    Bosso relishes win at Warriors

El KanemiWarriors head coach Ladan Bosso is excited to have claimed his first away win of the season at former side Abia Warriors.

Bosso said the experience he garnered in his sojourn with the Umuahia Warriors helped him greatly to subdue his former side.

“We planned and worked very hard for the match and it paid off quite well to hand us our first win on the road.

“It’s always good for a coach to have a good idea and knowledge of his opponents.

“Of course, the two-season sojourn with the side helped us greatly.

“I saw their lineup and I knew what to do and the pattern I adopted worked really well.

“I believe we can build on the victory to go for more victories in other away matches.

“We have proven we can hold firm on our home ground as well as go outside to win matches,” said the former Bayelsa United and Kano Pillars coach to supersport.com.

The hard-fought away win at Abia Warriors has shot the Maiduguri Warriors to the second spot on the 20-team top-flight log on 15 points, five behind leaders Plateau United.

Chikatara tells Warriors to win for late mum

Bereaved Abia Warriors top striker, Chisom Chikatara has charged his teammates to win for  his late mother, Madam Ifeyinwa Beatrice Chikatara.

The late mum of Super Eagles’ lethal finisher will be interred at the Chikatara’s home in Amuzukwu Ibeku, Umuahia today, same day teammates will engage strugglers, Bayelsa United in top flight match day 35 clash at the Oghara Township Stadium.

Chikatara, who will not be available for the clash at Bayelsa United, however, promised to host his teammates upon return with the whole three points at stake.

“Of course, I won’t be available for Wednesday’s clash at Bayelsa United as  my late mum will be buried same day. However, I have charged my teammates to win, at least, for the departed soul and come back for a sumptuous entertainment.

“They have promised to come back with the three points though we understand that victory belongs to God so we are seeking His blessing and favour in the clash.

“Abia Warriors do not have too much stake to play under pressure, the pressure will certainly be on Bayelsa United due to their uncomfortable position on the league table.

“Once the players are able to relax and play their normal game Bayelsa United are most likely going to make a mistake. So the Warriors must look out for the mistakes to make a kill out of it for the maximum three points at stake,” said the Super Eagles marksman to supersport.com.

Abia Warriors are eighth on the 20-team top flight on 50 points 12 points behind league leaders and city mates, Enyimba with four matches on the season’s calendar.

    ‘Warriors won’t pass Jalingo test’

FC Taraba attacking midfielder, Stephen Adah has said El Kanemi Warriors’ potent form against league leaders, Enyimba will be ineffective in Jalingo.

The top flight struggling side will host the Maiduguri outfit in Sunday’s Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) match day 31 clash at the Jolly Nyame Stadium in Jalingo.

Adah said his side have perfected their act that will see the visitors being turn back empty-handed.

“El Kanemi Warriors showed good recovery from their past poor performances with a 3-1 win against league leaders, Enyimba in match day 30 clash in Katsina.

“However, that superlative performance that saw them beat Enyimba will not work against us in Jalingo on Sunday.

“We will turn them back empty-handed to their base as we cannot take anything less than the whole three points at stake.

“Right now we cannot afford to drop any point not even on our own home ground.

“Our position on the league log is quite poor we need all the points we can lay our hands on to stay afloat.

“Victory will further strengthen our survival fight to stave off relegation at the end of the ongoing season,” said the former Enugu Rangers playmaker to supersport.com.

FC Taraba are 19th on the top flight on 29 points from possible 90 in the 30-week old league.

  • Mbaka’s sermon and Jonathan’s warriors

SIR:Following the prophetic warning by Rev. Fr. Ejike Camillus Mbaka forewarning Nigerians that continuity in governance by Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan will bring hardship to Nigerians, an army of Jonathan’s critics of Mbaka has sprouted out fearlessly attacking him.

Fr. Mbaka’s prophecy in sermon which warned Nigerians that Jonathan cannot lead Nigeria as things stand right now, is a welcome development. Dr. Jonathan and his army of Mbaka’s critics appeared to have been plagued by Pharaoh’s hard-heartedness as they have refused to take a lesson from King David’s open admission of his misdeeds and request for forgiveness following his lust for another man’s wife.

According to the Bible, King David, the anointed king in course of his reign as king of Israel looked through his palace and saw a beautiful woman taking her bath, and desired to have her. On inquiry, he discovered that the woman was Uriah’s wife. Rather than control his emotion, he decided to have Uriah killed in the battle ground for it was forbidden to take another’s wife.

Following King David’s evil deed, God sent his prophet, called Nathan who went to David and cursed him that sword would never depart from his house and that he would raise up evil against him. When Nathan told King David the message from God, rather than behave like Jonathan and his army of Mbaka critics, he admitted his evil, repented and asked for forgiveness. Nathan there and then reversed some of the curses and left some others and they came to pass.

Jonathan and his army are taking lessons from inglorious conduct of Ahab and Jezebel who sought to kill Prophet Elijah and Prophet Micaiah for fore-warning them of the pending doom. Jonathan should also note that when Ahab’s wife, Jezebel sought to kill Elijah, he, Elijah ran to Beer-Sheba and rested under a broom tree; which in Nigeria today, symbolizes APC.

If questions may be asked, which evil have Nigerians not suffered under Dr. Goodluck Jonathan? Is it ceaseless slaughtering of men, women and innocent children in the North with Jonathan not caring; the abduction and bombing of Nigerians with Jonathan having no remedy?

Is it countless loss of lives and goods of hardworking people of South-east on federal roads, the loss of lives of 19 job-seeking Nigerians with nobody punished? What of the extortion of N1,000 from about 700,000 Nigerian jobless youths with no job in sight and no refund made? Is it increase in fuel price from N65 pegged by late Yar’Adua to N97 under the promise of Eldorado which turned out to be deceit?

Is it lack of electricity at home, office and everywhere? Is it the lack of care to victims of abducted girls in Chibok when the same man postponed his campaign when he lost his sister? Which one will I mention and leave the other?

What is it that Rev. Father Mbaka said that the likes of Buruji Kashamu and one self-acclaimed national president of Ohaneze Youth Council should berate Father Mbaka in The Nation of January 5 and January 8 that is not the truth and known to Nigerians?

I know that Father Mbaka talked about Pastors selling their prophetic gifts because of porridge; however, I think, there are Nigerians who may want to turn to Jonathan’s porridge in so far as they continue to eat the crumbs from the masters table.

Warriors, Giwa tie records no show

The Glo Premier League newcomers match day 26 clash between Abia Warriors and Giwa FC on Sunday at the Umuahia Township Stadium did not take place as scheduled.

Though the Jos-based side reported at the match venue for the encounter their opponents, Abia Warriors were absent. There were also no match officials present to conduct the business of the day.

The League Management Company (LMC),which oversees the running of the top flight, had earlier called off all Week 26 matches but factional Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) president, Chris Giwa issued a counter-directive approving that the match day 26 fixtures go ahead in spite of a notice from the country’s referees association to boycott matches in all tiers of the league.

An official of Giwa FC, Sammy Adesoji said his side reported for the pre-match meeting but met nobody and same scenario played out when they turned up later in the day for the match.

“We reported for the pre-match meeting but it didn’t hold as no match official was present, the same as Abia Warriors officials. We only saw a man at the venue who claimed to be the chief security officer of the stadium complex.

“We waited endlessly but when it became obvious that the pre-match meeting is unlikely to hold we returned to our hotels.

“At 2pm we headed to the stadium dressed for the match but still met the stadium securely padlocked with some Abia Warriors’ supporters drumming few metres outside the stadium.

“Again there were no security men around, no match officials, no Abia Warriors players and officials, among others until 5pm. When we were certain the match won’t hold we drove back to our hotel.

“We’ll return back to our base on Monday satisfied that we’ve fulfilled our own part of the bargain to wait for further directive from the authorities concerned,” said Adesoji to supersport.com.

“The team is in top form now and we are targeting a draw or win in Umuahia. I am not saying Abia Warriors are pushovers, but with the present form of our team no club can stop us.

“We are going to Umuahia for real football busi and the new Warriors of the east; in total it is Warriors at war ness. It is going to be a tough game between the real Warriors of the north in Umuahia.”

He added: “The players know what is at stake and I must say here that the management under the leadership of Mala Zanna Mohammed is doing their best in terms of the players’ welfare.

“We left Maiduguri last Sunday to Kano and now from Kano to Umuahia. From there we are coming back to Kano again for our week 23 match. Salaries are paid when due, bonuses are paid on time, so the players must give their best to make it to the top.”

  • ‘Sunshine can beat Abia Warriors’

    ‘Sunshine can beat Abia Warriors’

Sunshine Stars midfield, Abe Sunday has said the confidence in the team is high as they prepare to lock horns against new comers and ‘giant-killers’, Abia Warriors on Match Day 7 of the Globacom Premier League come this weekend.

The Akure Gunners skipper, however, believes that it would be a tough game but his side can shock the Aba team who has in its payroll a former teammate of his Cletus Itodo.

“Our target is to pick the three maximum points in Abia,” Abe told SportingLife.

“Sunshine Stars has played well on the road, drawing Kano Pillars and Rangers, so beating Abia Warriors regardless Itodo wearing the opposite jersey will be a delight for us.

“However, the 3-2 victory over a tough Warri Wolves at home was a moral boaster for us ahead of the trip to Abia.

“It won’t be easy but my mates and I are determined to give in our best, so we need to take our chances as they come. Mind you, we’re ready to take on any team be it in Akure or on the road,” the petit skipper said.

The Akure Gunners have six points from five games played and occupy the 16th position on the log.
