An indigenous tech firm, SectorLead Limited, has announced a plan to boost power generation in the country with 3,000 Megawatts(MW).
The pilot phase will see the company producing 500MW in the Federal Capital Territory(FCT) and four states—Oyo, Rivers, Benue, and Plateau.
Managing Director and the Chief Executive Officer of the company that specialises in the conversion of waste to power, Adedayo Mustapha, revealed this during the inauguration of the firm’s board of directors yesterday.
Mustapha said the vision of the firm is to transform Nigeria into the first “zero waste smart sustainable” nation in Africa through its “waste-to-energy” project.
He revealed that the project has started drawing recognition with the Canadian High Commission and several international bodies expressing interest in it..

Chairman of the board, Dr. Malami Shehu Ma’aji, reiterated the board’s commitment to driving the firm towards the attainment of its goals.
Consultant and member of the firm’s Technical Advisory Committee, Dr. Vincent Dogo, said two models: “Anaerobic and Pyro-thermal” processes would be deployed in converting wastes to energy.
“We are poised to build steam turbines with the combined capacity of 500MW for Benue, Oyo, Plateau, Rivers and the FCT which can power up to 100,000 homes,” he said.
He added that the initiative would add to the national power availability, which will in turn stimulate productive activities and grow the economy.
The project’s landfill remediation objectives are driven towards “Reclaiming, Re-vegetating, and Afforestation,” SectorLead said.
It added that this will further improve the agricultural and healthcare outcomes for Nigeria as these “landfills” will be returned to their original natural state.
