    EBONYLIFE TV SHOWS ‘WEDDING PARTY 2’ TODAY

    Viewers of EbonyLife TV are set to binge on The Wedding Party specials today. According to a release from EbonyLifeTV, both ‘The Wedding Party’ and ‘The Wedding Party 2’ will be broadcast from 7pm CAT till midnight CAT on EbonyLife on DSTV Channel 165.

    Touted as the most successful films in the history of Nollywood, both movies which were produced by EbonyLife TV sold out upon release. And the sequel which was released in Nigeria on December 10, 2017 has been selling out at the cinemas.

    The specials by EbonyLife TV features ‘close-up and personal behind-the-scenes looks, as well as the most glamorous film premieres.’

    In the sequel which made N73 million in three days of release, Nonso (Enyinna Nwigwe), continues his romance with Deirdre (Daniella Down), the bridesmaid from London. He accidentally proposes to her while on a dinner date, setting off sries of unstoppable events. Deirdre’s family do not suport the union but Deirdre gets her way. After an introduction ceremony in Lagos, both families journey to Dubai for a destination wedding.

    ‘The Wedding Party 2’ rakes in N73m in 3-days

    Nigeria’s blockbuster movie “The Wedding Party 2-Destination Dubai,” has made over 73 million Naira on its opening weekend, its producers said.

    The movie was released in cinemas across the country on Friday, December 15.

    This feat is now the highest ever in the Nigerian Box Office, breaking the N36 million record set by the first part of the movie,’The Wedding Party 1,’ on its opening weekend last year.

    Mo Abudu, Chief Executive of Ebony Studios, one of the producers of movie, made the success of the sequel known on her Instagram page.

    She wrote: “what can I say, but thank you Lord. Thank you Nigeria. The Wedding Party 2: Destination Dubai now goes down as the highest opening weekend ever at the Nigerian box office for both Nollywood and international films!

    “Last year we did N36m on #TWP1 for our opening weekend, now we have doubled that,this is evidence that Yes We Can and we have!

    “Nigeria let’s continue to break this record together, to be the highest grossing film of all time, so that we can tell the world that ‘We Can’”.

    Nigerian movie lovers have been expecting this sequel to the inter-tribal-marriage-themed movie, which recently translated to the real life marriage of its main characters Dunni ( Adesua ) and Dozie ( Banky W ).

    “The Wedding Party 2: Destination Dubai” plot, focuses on Dozie ( Banky W ) the groom’s brother, Nonso ( played by Enyinna Nwigwe ), who has continued his romance with Deirdre ( played by Daniella Down ), the bridesmaid from London.

    Nonso proposes by accident, while on a dinner date, and that sets off a chain of intriguing events.

    Although, Deirdre’s British family, as well as some members of Nonso’s family were against the pairing and the love birds seemed bothered.

    However, after an unpleasant introduction ceremony in Lagos, both families reluctantly agreed to a wedding in Dubai, setting off other comic and chaotic episodes of the Wedding Party Story.

    Besides the original movie’s main cast, other Nollywood stars including Patience Ozokwor ( Mama G ), Omoni Oboli and ace comedians Seyi Law and Chigurl are also featured in the sequel.

    The original cast includes Banky W, Adesuwa Etomi, Daniella Down, RMD and Ali Baba.

    Others are, Ireti Doyle, Enyinna Nwigwe, Beverly Naya and Somkele Idhalama,among others.

    Premiere of ‘Wedding Party 2’ sold out four weeks ahead of schedule

    About four weeks to its world premiere date on December 10, 2017, the movie, ‘The Wedding Party 2: Destination Dubai,’ has sold out. The movie, a project of the ELFIKE Film Collective, a partnership between EbonyLife Films, FilmOne Distribution, Inkblot Productions and Koga Studios announced on Tuesday that tables at the Grand World Premiere of the star-studded movie have been sold out and the few tickets remaining are those being sent to specially invited guests of the ELFIKE Collective.

    ‘Guests are already planning their ‘Arabian chic’ outfits, to tie in with the event’s theme, ‘Arabian Nights’, spurred on by the possibility of winning a 7-day Dubai Experience for ‘best outfit’,’ said a statement from EbonyLife Films.

    ‘The theme will also be reflected in the opulent décor and a variety of exotic food, activities and entertainment, to highlight the film’s location in Dubai, one of the world’s favourite holiday destinations.’

    CEO of EbonyLife Films, Mo Abudu, expressed delight at the response the film is getting.

    “We expected the tables to sell out, but not this early,” she said.

    “We are incredibly grateful for all the support from our corporate sponsors and partners. It’s guaranteed to be a memorable night.”

    Also excited about the sold-out premiere was Moses Babatope, COO, FilmOne Distribution who disclosed that the movie would be in cinemas across the country from December 15, 2017.

    “The response so far has been incredible – it shows the strength and appeal of the movie. Anyone who was not able to get tickets for the premiere should endeavour to book before the film opens on December 15.”

    Chigul, Elenu and Seyi Law join cast of Wedding Party 2 in Dubai

    New actors have joined the star-studded list of the sequel to Nigeria’s highest grossing film, The Wedding Party.

    The new additions to the Niyi Akinmolayan-directed flick include Patience Ozokwo, aka Mama G, Chigul, Elenu and Seyi Law, according to a statement by producers of the film.

    The cast have proceeded to Dubai to last where they will spend two weeks to complete shooting for The Wedding Party 2.

    The first instalment of the romantic comedy which was released in December 2016, has stars such as Alibaba, Sola Sobowale, Richard Mofe-Damijo, Ireti Doyle, Beverly Naya, Banky W, Adesua Etomi, AY Makun, Eyinna Nwigwe and Somkele Iyamah-Idhalama  among others.

    With the recent marriage of the two lead characters of the film; Banky W and Adesua Etomi who played the couple as Dozie and Dunni respectively in the movie, fans have, on social media being expressing anticipation for the sequel.

    Posters released of the coming film show Dozie and Dunni are now expecting a baby. And while Felix and Obianuju are still working on their relationship, the question is, has he given up ‘Small Chops’ for good? And will crazy best man Sola succeed in getting close to the feisty Yemisi and does Nonso go all the way with Deardre, after that surprise kiss at the end of the last movie? And, of course, there is another wedding. But whose will it be?

    According to promoters, The Wedding Party 2, which is set to complete filming by the end of this month will go into post-production in order to make the film festival season, and it will have its Lagos premiere on December 10, 2017.

    Shot in Lagos, London and Dubai, and powered by Dubai Tourism, sites such as Atlantis, Armani, Palazzo Versace and the Ghaya Grand are being featured in the movie.

    “Ever since Dubai Tourism partnered with us on the Grand Premiere of The Wedding Party, it’s been my dream to bring the sequel here,” said Mo Abudu, Executive Producer for EbonyLife Films.

    “We weren’t sure if it was going to be possible, but the amazing success of the movie made it more likely and Dubai Tourism came through for us, along with Tour Brokers International and Wontra Travel. With a great script by Naz Onuzo, an experienced director, Niyi Akinmolayan, the original cast and the beautiful sights and sounds of Dubai, we think we may have a bigger blockbuster on our hands.”
