  • Housewives fight over ‘lover boy’ widower in Anambra

Two married women reportedly stripped themselves naked in a brawl over the ownership of a widower in Okpoko, Ogbaru local government area of Anambra State.

The women, a civil servant and a petty trader (names withheld) were said to had severally clashed over their relationship with the widower, a commercial bus driver, identified as Chiemeziem.

The Nation gathered that both housewives had warned each other to steer clear of the “lover boy” widower, but none had heeded to such warnings as the relationships continued until the fateful day.

A source close to the widower, told our correspondent that the widower, fondly called Emeziem, had repeatedly appealed to the women to see themselves as partners in the relationship than rivals.

“He threatened to dismiss any of them that caused quarrel. He even had to draw a roaster for their visits to ensure peace and forestall clash in the double-dating game,” the source said.

Trouble however ensued when one of the women broke the rules as she visited on the day meant for her rival.

“The trader was already with Emeziem when her civil servant rival showed up and as expected, heated argument started.

“The quarrel was so uncontrollable that he had to push both of them out of the house, locked the apartment and left with anger,” the source said.

The source further revealed that attempts to broker peace between them by neighbors and sympathisers was unsuccessful as the brawl continued till they striped themselves naked.

The Nation further learnt that both women, said to had produced children for him, had since been dismissed by the widower following the ugly incident.

  • Widower demands FSARS officers’ arrest for wife’s death

Widower demands FSARS officers’ arrest for wife’s death

WHO were the Federal Special Anti-robbery Squad ( FSARS ) operatives that raided some parts of Ilupeju, Lagos, on January 24?

A widower, Mr Musendiku Adeyanju whose wife Asiata slumped to death after learning of her son Muiz’s arrest by the operatives, is asking the police to fish them out.

The operatives said to  be from Ipakodo Division in Ikorodu arrested Muiz while he was trying to put on the generator in front of their 9, Ajenifuja Street, Ilupeju, Lagos home.

Adeyanju told The Nation  at the weekend that the  FSARS’ “illegal raid” had brought permanent trauma to his family, wondering why the police were silent over the incident.

His last child,  16-month-old Amirat, whimpered endlessly, ostensibly feeling the absence of her mother.

“She has been crying since the day she stopped seeing her mother,” the distraught Adeyanju said as he carried and patted the baby on the back.

Adeyanju, a businessman, said his wife’s death had left a void in his family, saying the incident had forced shared responsibilities on his shoulder.

He said: “Look at our children; they are too young to be exposed to this permanent trauma caused by the police. These children were close to their mother than they are close to me. They are already feeling the absence of their mother.

“I didn’t say the policemen directly killed my wife, but their illegal raid in our area was responsible for the death of my wife. It is the responsibility of the police leadership to fish out these bad officers and punish them. The punishment would deter other crooked officers in the police.”

Muiz said he was yet to  overcome the trauma of his mother’s death, noting that her absence would make life difficult for him and his siblings. He said the FSARS officers’ action had shattered his late mother’s plans for them.

He said: “Our mother was very close to us. Immediately I finished from secondary school last year, my mom personally took me to a computer training centre to learn graphic design. When I got my O’Level results, she enrolled me into a coaching class for the next Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). She wanted me to study accounting. Her plan was to get me admitted into the university this year. All these have been shattered. Though my dad had always provided everything we needed, it was easy when my mom was there.”

Some residents are also urging the police to fish out the officers. They said the same  officers  had raided the area for two weeks.

Contacted yesterday, police spokesman Chike Oti, a Superintendent (SP), promised to get back to this reporter. He did not before press time.

  • Widower, police bicker over woman’s death

Widower, police bicker over woman’s death

A row has broken out between the police and the widower of an expectant mother, who died after her release from custody.

Mr Solomon Wilfred is claiming that his wife, Vivienne, who was six-week pregnant, died from “emotional stress” after her ordeal.

But the police denied that she was kept in custody, saying she was “released immediately her husband said she was pregnant and has health challenges”.

Wilfred, who got married to the late Vivienne last December, said she was taken to Akinpelu Police Station in Oshodi on March 15 by a policeman following an argument with another woman, Chinwendu Udomadu over a teenage girl, Perpetual Ucheweaku at the nearby Arena Market.

Mrs Udomadu and her daughter, Chinemerem, claimed that Perpetual was Osinachi Udomadu, who had been missing since 2014.

The late Mrs Wilfred debunked their claim, saying the girl is under her guidance. She added that she knew the girl’s parents, and had known the girl since she was about eight years old.

The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) at Akinpelu was said to have transferred the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) at Panti, Yaba, claiming that it was a criminal case which could not be handled at his station.

Wilfred told The Nation that at Panti, his wife was detained in a cell while he wrote a statement. He said he begged to swap places with her since she was pregnant and “suffers stress induced seizures”.

“I told them she was pregnant and sick. I told them she had stress induced seizures, and I went upstairs to write the statement for me to swap places with her. But when I came back, they had thrown her into the cell.

“I even thought they put her behind the counter to wait for me to write the statement, but she was in the cell.

“Then I told them to release her because I already told them she was not feeling fine”, he said.

Wilfred said his wife died on March 16, following her release the previous day.

Police spokesperson Dolapo Badmos, a Superintendent (SP), said the late Mrs Wilfred was released on health grounds and was never put in the cell.

“She was never put in the cell and she was released by the ACP SCID immediately her husband said she was six weeks pregnant and has health challenges.

“The ACP later called and told me that she has been informed the woman fainted at home and was rushed to the hospital where she passed on,” she said.

But the widower said the “emotional stress” she went through in the cell, and his subsequent detention triggered the seizure that led to her death.

Badmos said: “The police did nothing wrong in the matter. The suspects (Chinwendu and Chinemerem Udomadu) have been charged to court and the result of the DNA test is still being awaited.”

  • Kefee’s widower plans posthumous birthday for late wife

Kefee’s widower plans posthumous birthday for late wife

Seven months after the demise of gospel sensation, Irikefe Obareki, aka Kefee, her widower, Teddy Esosa Don Momoh, in partnership with ‘Team Kefee’ is organising a memorial concert and album launch for the Branama Queen.

According to Don Momoh, the event, ‘An evening with Kefee’,  scheduled to hold on February 5, at Daystar Christian Centre Annex 2, Oregun, Lagos, is a posthumous birthday celebration for his late wife.

“This is the beginning of an evening with Kefee. There has always been the tradition of doing things on her birthday. When she launched the Kefee Peace Foundation in 2009, it was on her birthday. When she opened her Kitchen in 2012; it was also on her birthday. Last year, we had something in America for people in America on her birthday. So let’s do the memorial and album launch on her birthday,” he said.

Expected to grace the event are family members of the deceased who, according to the widower, will be there to support and keep the memory of Kefee alive. The evening of music, comedy and dance, he said, will parade top gospel and contemporary artistes such as Yinka Davies, Sammie Okposo, Nikky Laoye, Cynthia Morgan, Akpororo, Princess, Alibaba, Omotola, Righteous Man, Timaya, Uti, Anny, Idris Abdulkareem, Vector and several others.

Momoh expressed optimism that the late singer’s latest album, I Believe, billed to be launched on January 15, will be well received due to the hard work that has gone into it.”I Believe is a 12-tracker. On this album, Kefee worked with South African, Kenyan, Ghanaian and Nigerians artistes. They include Sani Danja, Yinka Davies, Vector, Cynthia Morgan, Henri Soul, Elinee (Ghana), Lady X (South Africa) and Viso (Kenya).

Momoh, who revealed he has no plans on remarry yet, noted that Kefee’s imprint in his life is like a tattoo. Recounting his attraction for her, he said, “She was somebody who feared God, somebody who loved God so much and was glamorous. Having somebody who loved God so much and still remained in the entertainment industry was the attraction.”

Speaking on the challenges of putting the event together, he said, “Honestly, I would say it is God, and I think the impact she had in their (fellow artistes) lives. When I said to them, this is what we are about to do, they all came out. There is actually a committee responsible for putting this together. It has the likes of Nikky Laoye and Sammie Okposo as members.”
