THE Special Adviser (SA) to the Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike on Lands and Survey, Chief Anugbom Onuoha, has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen, the state’s Police command say.

The command described the development as unfortunate and pledged to ensure he was released as soon as possible. Wike’s aide: don’t be deceived by Amaechi

Chief of Staff to the Rivers State Governor Chukwuemeka Woke has told the riverine people not to believe the claims of former Governor Rotimi Amaechi  on rotation.

He said the Senator Representing Rivers East, Chief Andrew Uchendu must first vacate his seat,  if his campaign on rotation should be taken serious.

Speaking at a ceremony to welcome defectors to the PDP and an empowerment initiative by Governor Nyesom Wike in Emohua Local Government Area on Sunday, Woke noted that Amaechi and the senator  snatched their positions, even though Wike was already governor.

He said: “Let him that goes to equity, come with clean hands. If APC says power must rotate in Rivers, they should remember  that at the time Wike was inaugurated as Minister on May 29, 2015, Rivers State had no minister.

“The man who says he loves Rivers State so much and that Ikwerre must not take everything, put himself forward and became Minister.  At that time, he didn’t know it was Ikwerre-Ikwerre. Rivers East Senatorial District unanimously voted Senator George Sekibo from Ogo-Bolo.  Ikwerre was already governor and naturally a Wakrike man was voted. The same person, Andrew Uchendu fought him and removed him through unwholesome route.

“For the sake of equity and based on their campaign, let Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi resign as Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and let Andrew Uchendu resign as Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, then  we will know that  they are serious. Otherwise, they are deceiving  their few followers”.

He declared that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is not valuable  to Rivers people, hence they will vote the PDP  again in 2019.

Woke said aside the circulation of lies, the APC Federal Government has not executed any projects in the  state.

He said the way Emohua people overwhelmingly voted for PDP during the Presidential, Gubernatorial and Legislative elections in 2015 is the way that they will vote again in 2019.

“This is a period of stock-taking. It is not a time to make vain statements.  All across Rivers State, the APC Federal Government has no projects.  Here in Emohua Local Government Area, there is nothing  that can be credited  to the APC.

“However, in Emohua Local Government Area, Governor Wike has empowered  the  people and executed projects  across different communities,” he said.

Rivers State PDP Chairman Felix Obuah assured the defectors that they  will be accorded equal treatment  by the party.

He hailed the Emohua PDP for their mass mobilisation, which will lead to a PDP victory in 2019.

The member representing Emohua State at the House of Assembly, Sam Ogeh, said the turnout at the event reinforced the loyalty of Emohua people to PDP.

Special Adviser to the governor on Politics Chief Emeh Glory said the people were determined  to vote Wike in 2019.

The Commander of 2 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Port Harcourt, Brig.-Gen. Stephenson Olabanji, gave reasons yesterday why Secretary to the Rivers State Government Chief Kenneth Kobani and a Special Assistant to Governor Nyesom Wike,  Mr Cyril Wite, were arrested by the Army.

Gen. Olabanji said at a joint security news conference in Port Harcourt that both men were arrested in Gokana and Khana Local Government Areas on Saturday for allegedly committing electoral offences.

“Many people were arrested yesterday (Saturday) for disrupting the electoral process and the law is not meant for just the lower cadre alone.

“No matter who you are, if you go against the law, you will definitely face the music.

“So, there is nothing like being Secretary to the State Government; many people were arrested as you have been told; a lot of people were arrested,” he said.

Gen. Olabanji denied claims by the state government that some commissioners and other top officials were manhandled by soldiers during the re-run elections.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Zone Six, Calabar, Mr Adisa Bolanta, said four people died while 22 persons were arrested during the elections.

Bolanta said the suspects were being interrogated on allegations of criminal or electoral offences.

He said deployments made by the police assisted in reducing election-related offences.

Governor Wike who confirmed the arrests, said the government officials wanted to ensure that election materials were moved to polling units at the time they were arrested.

Security operatives on election duty in Bori, Khana local government area of Rivers State, yesterday arrested the Special Adviser to Governor Nyesom Wike on Special duties, Siredom Nwiite, and seven other boys in fake police uniform.

Nwiite denied the accusation of parading hoodlums in the elections.

He, however, identified the suspected thugs as members of his community, claiming he was not with them.

Nwiite said he was at the RAC centre to complain of hijack of election materials in his ward, maintaining he was innocent of the allegation levelled against him.

Meanwhile, two persons, including an immigration officer and a voter, were killed by gunmen at Abalama in Asari-Toru and Eleme local government area respectively.
