    Madu, Simon, Ndidi on Tottenham’s radar

    English Premier League side, Tottenham Hotspur, is keeping close tabs on Nigerian youngsters – Kingsley Madu, Moses Simon and Wilfred Ndidi ahead of next season.

    The club scouts watched the trio in action during Nigeria’s 3-1 win over Luxembourg on Tuesday night, although they were second half substitutes for the Super Eagles at the Josy Barthel Stadium, Goal reports.

    Ndidi features for KRC Genk in the Belgian Jupiler League and has a contract until 2020, while Simon who boasts of six international caps for Nigeria, remains a player of KAA Gent till 2019.

    Madu plays for Slovakia’s AS Trenčín.

    Nigeria international, Wilfred Ndidi’s super strike for Genk against champions Brugge has been voted the best goal in Belgium for the past season.

    In the match played on April 20, the 19-year-old unleashed a 30 yards screamer to leave the Club Brugge goalkeeper stranded on his lines, africanFootball.com reports.

    Ndidi was also named runners-up for the Young Player of the Year in Belgium

    Ex- Flying Eagles midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi, on Friday night scored his third league goal of the season in Genk 2-0 victory over Zulte-Waregem 2-0 in Belgium Jupiler Pro League play- off game.

    Ndidi headed home team mate Yeni Buyens free kick in the 63rd minute, supersport.com reports.

    He has played 33 league games for Genk this season.

    Genk currently lies fourth place on the log.

    Vincent Enyeama, who has been stripped of the Eagles captaincy, trained with the rest of the Eagles squad in Belgium on Wednesday, same as late invitee Wilfred Ndidi.

    Contrary to some media reports, Enyeama did not quit the Eagles camp in Belgium after his major fall-out with coach Sunday Oliseh on Tuesday night.

    NFF president Amaju Pinnick had also reassured that Enyeama will train with the rest of the squad notwithstanding the row of the previous day.

    Genk defender Ndidi, on the other hand, was a late call-up after six players from the domestic league were yet to be issued visas to Belgium.

    Another late call-up Dele Alampasu was expected to hit the team’s hotel later Wednesday after AfricanFootball.com was told he had called from the airport in Lisbon, Portugal, he was on his way.

    Today’s match against DR Congo will kick off at 7pm inside the VISE Stadium, and will be the first between both countries’ senior teams in five-and-half-years. on Saturday as he scored in a 3-2 loss at Union Berlin.

    Duisburg are now bottom of the 18-team league with two points from nine games.

    Flying Eagles star, Wilfred Ndidi, was impressive in his new role as defensive midfielder for his Belgian club Genk in Wednesday’s 1-0 victory over English League side, Charlton Athletic.

    Ndidi, 18, looks set to command a first-team place in Genk this season as new coach Peter Maes is a great admirer of the Nigeria youngster, who played as a fullback, last season.

    The ex-Golden Eaglets defender could have given Genk an early lead but he headed over from close range after getting above his marker, africanFootball.com reports.

    Genk continued to push for the game’s opening goal during the first half, with Igor de Camargo slicing wide after Julien Gorius was denied by the legs of Henderson.

    Johann Gudmundsson then forced a save from Genk goalkeeper Marco Bizot at the other end before the home side finally made its dominance count on 36 minutes as De Camargo nodded in a pullout from the left flank.

    AYC: Manu Garba rejects Iheanacho’s plea

    Assistant coach of the Flying Eagles, Nduka Ugbade, has sensationally revealed that Manchester City starlet, Kelechi Iheanacho, pleaded with head coach, Manu Garba, to be included in Nigeria’s final squad for the 2015 African Youth championship in Senegal.

    Iheanacho was initially ruled out of the competition after picking up an injury which was ratified by his English Premier League club.

    The former Golden Eaglets star recovered from the injury before suffering yet another setback but not before asking the coaching staff of the Flying Eagles if he could be drafted into the squad as a late inclusion.

    “Iheanacho, Wilfred Ndidi and some of the other players who are not here (in Senegal) actually pleaded with coach Manu if they could be included but he said no because they did not work with us in the final phase of our preparations.

    “That is the hunger and desire they all displayed but the coach (Manu) has told them that if we qualify for the U-20 World Cup, they will all be invited to fight for shirts,” Ugbade told supersport.com.

    Meanwhile, the Flying Eagles held its first training session in Senegal ahead of the competition’s opening game against the hosts, Senegal.

    The team trained on Thursday evening at the Stade Iba Mar Diop, Dakar.

    The training session lasted 90 minutes and all the 21 players trained fully.

    Nigeria has been dealt another blow ahead of next month’s African Youth Championship in Senegal after Belgian club Genk refused to release star defender, Wilfred Ndidi, for the tournament.

    Genk held a special meeting on Wednesday and decided highly-rated central defender Ndidi will not be released to the Flying Eagles for the tournament, which starts on March 8 in Dakar, on account of club commitments, africanFootball.com reports.

    Genk, who is within the bracket for the Belgian championship playoffs, has earlier made it clear it will need 18-year-old Ndidi for crucial league games on March 7 and March 15.

    “It’s a big blow for the Flying Eagles because Ndidi is key to coach Manu Garba’s plans for the AYC. He is the team’s most experienced defender. The player too is very devastated,” a top source informed africanFootball.com

    Manchester City first blocked Kelechi Iheanacho and Chidiebere Nwakali from the AYC, before Tottenham Hotspur teenager Musa Yahaya was ruled out of the tournament on account of a knee injury.

    Flying Eagle defender, Wilfred Ndidi, has expressed his delight at the opportunity offered him by Belgium Jupiler League club Genk.

    “It’s great to be considered for a two-week assessment by Genk. I hope to soon leave for Belgium,” Ndidi told MTNFootball.com.

    The former U-20 defender, who has also featured for the Golden Eaglets, impressed visiting scouts at a recent special tournament organized in Lagos.

    He was earlier slated to try out at another Belgian club, Club Brugge.

    In the meantime, another Nath Boys of Lagos promising prospect, Adebayo Ademelua, has gone on a short-term loan to Portuguese second division club Portimonense.

    Portimonense is second in the Portuguese second-tier league with 30 points from 15 matches, a point behind leaders Morierense.
