  • Winners’ Chapel rehabilitates Ogun roads

Respite has come the way of the people of Ado-Odo Ota Local Government and succour is finally in the pipeline for motorists and users of major roads and link-routes in the local government of Ogun state, as the headquarters of the Living Faith Church Worldwide (Winners’ Chapel International) located in Canaanland has taken up the challenge of rehabilitating stretches of collapsed roads and bad flashpoints.

The leadership of the Church, led by Bishop David Oyedepo, which had on several occasions taken up the gauntlet and employed measures to fix the worst spots pending provision of permanent solutions by appropriate authorities, has now rather opted for “operation permanently fix the roads”. Bishop Oyedepo decried the high rate of failing roads around and noted that the Church would continue to assist government in providing succor and solutions in the face of mounting social challenges, while also charging organizations and groups in the position to consider the people’s plight and in the spirit of corporate social responsibility, render meaningful assistance to government in fixing roads and other collapsed public amenities.

The rehabilitation of the 23-kilometre Atan-Lusada-Agbara highway was completed in less than one week and is now in good shape. The second phase of the route, which includes Unilever-Opic Estate road linking Mile 2 in Lagos, is under rehabilitation.

Also under rehabilitation are the significant bad portions at Pako/Mosalasi, GT Bank (Lagos-Abeokuta express road), Toll Gate area and Canaanland – The Bells part of Idiroko express road. Other flashpoints being rehabilitated are Iyana Iyesi, Nycil Junction, Honda, Ogun State Housing Estate, Oju Ore, all of which are along the Sango-Idiroko express road. The entrance of Iyana Iyesi, as well as some bad portions between the junction and the inner points are also listed for rehabilitation.

Aside the Atan-Lusada-Agbara road, major rehabilitation is also being done from Anglican Bus Stop to Idi Pako linking to AIT, which is a 2 kilometre-long road; the abandoned descending portion to Toll Gate of the newly constructed Local Council – Toll Gate expressway; Coca Cola-Ilobu road, off Oju Ore; the collapsed Joju-Alisiba (off Lagos/Abeokuta Expressway) road; and the Sifor-Estate road. The portion from Sango roundabout to Joju roundabout (right on the edge of the Sango-Idiroko expressway), which had not been motorable for close to a year will be paved with interlocks to absorb shocks and damaging effects of heavy-duty vehicles.

  • ABC of Jonathan’s visit, by Winners’ Chapel

ABC of Jonathan’s visit, by Winners’ Chapel

•Oyedepo ‘never said I will open gates of hell’

The Living Faith Church Worldwide (aka Winners’ Chapel) has described the allegation that its Presiding Bishop David Oyedepo endorsed President Goodluck Jonathan for this month’s election as unfounded.

Its Resident Pastor, Pastor Ubong Ntia, in a statement yesterday, said for over a week now, the news and social media had been abuzz with rumours, insinuations and misinformation, concerning the January 25 visit of President Jonathan to the church’s headquarters in Ota, Ogun State.

Pastor Ntia said the information portrayed an open declaration for the President, adding that it was done with the view to dent the image of Bishop Oyedepo and to create confusion in the polity.

He said: “Let it be clearly stated that Bishop is first and foremost a man of God and he remains one; and he can only accommodate all persons of different political backgrounds and inclinations, particularly leaders for whom the Bible has instructed that spiritual intercessions be made.

“The event of Sunday, January 25, 2015, in which President Jonathan visited the church, was obviously not out of place,” he said.

Pastor Ntia explained that the president and his entourage arrived at the church for the third service at about 9.30am and were ushered in to occupy the front seats alongside the resident pastor and other senior pastors.

He said: “Thereafter, in honour of the President, Bishop Oyedepo invited President Jonathan to ‘bring a word of greeting’ to the congregation.

“President Jonathan spent approximately six minutes in his address, clearly stating that he would be careful not to sound political so that his visit and intentions would not be construed as campaign.

“In his brief speech, he adulated the ministry and person of Bishop for the mighty works of faith, prayer for Nigeria and educational milestones the Living Faith Church has engendered for national development.

“He then expressed his belief that the elections of 2015 would go peacefully, while also asking for the people of God to pray more.

“The President neither covertly asked for votes, nor overtly impressed the congregation with any unsolicited advertorial to win their electoral minds,” he said.

Pastor Ntia stressed that Bishop Oyedepo  did not call the president to the altar for any special cleansing or deliverance.

Bishop Oyedepo, the pastor added, said at the service: “I like us to be on our feet and lift the President up to God. Whatever you desire to see God bring about in his life, bring about in our nation.

“Release unusual grace in increasing dimensions, to match the demands of his office. Cause your face to shine upon him. Lord, grant the desires of his heart. Grant Nigeria peace! Under him, grant Nigeria greater advancement. Thank you, Father; in Jesus’ Name we pray.”

He maintained that Bishop Oyedepo then closed the prayer thus with the remarks: “This entire church proclaims the President blessed today; blessed with divine wisdom to match the demands of his office; and blessed with peace to see the miraculous in his life.”

Pastor Ntia said Bishop Oyedepo never cursed anybody, who opposed the President.

“Therefore, there was no where nor was there any time the following prayer or words were uttered by the church or Bishop: ‘I will open the gates of hell to anyone who opposes you, or I will open the gates of hell to anyone who opposes the peace of this nation,’”the cleric said.

He added that it was incomprehensible, therefore, that some people would attribute I will open the gates of hell to anyone who opposes you to the church’s presiding bishop during a service that was attended by over 40,000 people and which was in the full glare of the world.

“Those imported words were probably for political profiteering and attention patronage by bloggers. Whatever the intention was, may Almighty God forgive the perpetrators.

“We consider the mischievous imputation and its uncritical acceptance as the handiwork of those who had been seeking a veritable point to strike and injure the integrity of our church, and they found the President’s visit during this season of elections as the right point to make an attempt to drag our hard-earned image in the mud,” Pastor Ntia said.

He noted that the situation would have been worse, but for the prayers of Nigerians.

He hailed the founder of the Winners Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo, for his commitment to God’s work and education in the country.

“It is very commendable that the church has two universities, which have contributed to the development of education in the country. I am from a humble background and know the value of education,” Jonathan said.

Bishop Oyedepo led a prayer session for the president during which the congregation prayed for grace to meet the demands of his office.

“It is our duty to make intercession for Kings. Our prayer is that God will lift His countenance upon the President and grant the nation peace,” Oyedepo said.

Shiloh: Oyedepo predicts rebirth of small nations’ economies

A Warning of an imminent economic holdocaust by small nations has been issued.

The holocaust, according to the President Bishop of the Living Faith Church, aka Winners Chapel International, Bishop David Oyedepo, which will economically teach the world a lesson, will be not be a mere occurrence but a heavenly agenda to bring about a brand new world.

Oyedepo spoke on the final night of the annual convention which was held inside the auditorium of the Faith Tabernacle, Cananland, Ota, in Ogun State.

The theme for this year is: ‘Exceeding Grace’.

Oyedepo also predicted that very soon, churches will become nations that will govern humanity by establishing hospitals, creating jobs and ministries.

He declared, “Soon, small churches will be exalted when the government loses control of how to control things and we are seeing the clouds of it already. Then, they will need the prophets of the day.”

With three million viewing worshipers represented in 173 countries and 247,109 worshipers on the website, Oyedepo told of how God revealed to him the mission to spread the gospel to all nations.

He said, “It was on April 10, 1982. I had an 18-hour revelation. I had no television box then. There wasn’t even any internet then, only the NTA and Radio Nigeria. God told me nations and millions will gather and listen to me speaking from one spot. It was unimaginable, but I never understood until now.”

He also informed the congregation that no foreign expertise was involved in the building of the 50,000 capacity Tabernacle, which is acclaimed to be the largest and sophisticated in West Africa.

Bishop Oyedepo urged Nigerians to cultivate the habit of giving, as it is a spiritual transaction that opens doors to financial prosperity. He also announced that next year’s Shiloh will hold from December 9-13.

Dignitaries present at the night service included the Rivers State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, and wife, Judith, and wife of the Ogun State Governor, Mrs. Olufunso Amosun.

  • Dwelling according to knowledge

    Dear reader,

With joy unspeakable full of glory, I sincerely welcome you to this life-changing and destiny-moulding column. I count it a very great privilege to be sharing God’s Word with you. I am full of excitement, because of the great and mighty things God has in store for you. It is so loaded and full of fat things. You will not miss your own portion in Jesus’ name!

This month, via the Word of God, I will be sharing with you, Dwelling According To Knowledge. It is my prayer that as you open your heart to receive and act on God’s Word concerning your family today, your marriage and home will experience a positive transformation in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen!

The major reason for crises in families, today, is because family members do not fully understand their God-given responsibilities in the family set-up. A person cannot do that which he does not know. If a person does not know his duties in the family set-up, he cannot fulfill his obligations. This month, I shall be examining one of the vital responsibilities necessary for achieving family success.

In 1 Peter 3:7, the Bible records: Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.

The main emphasis here is the phrase, “Dwell with them according to knowledge.” The word “dwell” is translated from the Greek word “sunoikeo”, which is used to denote domestic association; this association is to be done according to knowledge. For any family to experience any degree of success, knowledge of the nature and duties of every member of the family is inevitable.

    What then is knowledge?

The Oxford Dictionary defines knowledge as awareness or familiarity gained by experience of a person. Dictionary.com defines it as “the state or fact of knowing; familiarity, awareness, or understanding gained through experience or study; specific information about something.”

When the Bible, therefore, enjoins us to dwell according to knowledge, it means there are certain facts that one must lay hold on, in order to enjoy family success. There are lots of family crises, when we have little or no knowledge of our duties in fulfilling God’s ultimate purpose for the family. That is why the Bible says in Hosea 4:6: My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…

Each member of the family has a certain God-given responsibility to fulfill in the family, in order for success to abound therein. My husband has often shared one of the secrets of our family success, which is the acquisition of knowledge. By reason of what he saw of the marriage institution in his growing up days, he began seeking to know from God His true purpose for the institution of marriage.

It was in that state that God showed him the seven concepts of marriage, which has been practiced conscientiously in our family, causing us to enjoy a great deal of success. It took knowledge for us to know our individual placement in the family network, and that knowledge has set us free from every family crises.

To enjoy family success, therefore, the place of knowledge cannot be over-emphasized. In Proverbs 24:3-4 the NIV Bible, enumerating the benefits of knowledge, says: By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established; through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.

If you must find families which are filled with rare and beautiful treasures of peace, love, joy, satisfaction, sunshine, fulfillment, etc, then knowledge is the key. It takes knowledge to enjoy family success.

The prescription to dwell according to knowledge within the family network has its source in God. Therefore, I will be looking at His instruction on the subject, for the Bible has said in Proverbs 2:6: For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.

The scriptures often use the words wisdom, knowledge and understanding interchangeably. But they are occasionally spoken of as separate and distinct. Knowledge is the fact, understanding is the ability to lift the meaning out of the fact, and wisdom is knowing what next to do.

Knowledge is the ability to collate and access information. This alone may not be beneficial, except the information gathered is understood, leading you to the next line of action. Understanding, on the other hand, is the ability to extract meaning out of information, which produces principles, while wisdom is the ability to decipher which principles to apply now.

The injunction to dwell according to knowledge will not be beneficial without an understanding of what one’s responsibilities are, and a decision to put them to work. To enjoy the knowledge of God knowing what to do per time, being born again is the only sure foundation. To be born again, you have to confess your sins and accept Jesus as your Lord and personal Saviour.

If you are ready to be born again, please say this simple prayer with me, in faith: Dear Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I believe You died and rose again for my sake. Forgive me of my sins, take over my life, make me Your child and let Your peace reign over my life. Thank you for saving me. Now I know I am born again.

Congratulations, you are now born again! I believe that you will begin to experience the reality of the price that Jesus paid for your sins at Calvary. All-round rest and peace are guaranteed you, in Jesus’ Name!
