Why I think Wizkid doesn’t like me, by Skales

Singer Skales has shed light on his strained relationship with fellow artist, Wizkid, claiming that the superstar has never liked him.

In an interview on the Listen podcast, Skales recounted a social media fallout that deepened the tension between them.

During a Twitter Q&A session, he jokingly remarked that Wizkid no longer had time for him, prompting Wizkid to respond with a barrage of insults.

Skales alleged the comments targeted his family and accused him of wearing fake jewelry.

Skales said he avoided escalating the situation to prevent being seen as envious of Wizkid’s success.

Despite attempts to mend fences, he said he believes Wizkid’s animosity towards him remains unresolved.

He said, “I have always felt that Wizkid didn’t like me. I don’t know why but there were occasions where he showed his dislike for me.

“If you go back and check our social media fallout, I think I was doing a ‘question-and-answer’ session on Twitter and somebody said, ‘What’s up with your guy Wiz?’ And jokingly, I said, ‘My brother Wiz does not have my time anymore.’

“From there, Wizkid started insulting me, my father and my mother. That’s to show you that he probably had me in mind. He said I wear fake jewellery. That time, I wasn’t the one replying, it was my ex-girlfriend.

“I pick my battles. When I know that people will believe anything you say, I don’t need to fight you. Because whatever I say, they are going to say I am jealous. They are going to say I am envious of Wizkid’s success. And that was the story that was going round. I sat down recently and said, ‘This guy [Wizkid] really don’t like me.’ I have tried to make peace with him but he was adamant. He didn’t like me, I can tell you for a fact”.

I wrote hits for Wizkid, including ‘Wiz Party’, Skales claims

Popular singer Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, known as Skales, has claimed he wrote several hit songs for fellow artist Wizkid during their time at Empire Mates Entertainment (EME).

In a recent appearance on the show “Curiosity Made Me Ask,” hosted by content creator Bae U Barbie, Skales revealed that he co-wrote songs for Wizkid’s debut album, Super Star, including the bonus track “Wiz Party.”

Skales acknowledged that their collaboration was mutual, stating, “Back in EME, we were a team, so we used to write songs for each other. He wrote ‘Mukulu’ for me, and I wrote his song ‘Wiz Party.’ EME was a collective, so we did teamwork.”

Both artists were among the first to sign with EME, founded by R&B star and music executive Banky W, in the early 2010s.

The label played a significant role in launching their careers, bringing them into the spotlight. However, both singers eventually left EME after disagreements with Banky W.

In a previous interview, Banky W disclosed that Wizkid was contracted to deliver three albums to EME, indicating some tension around the terms of his agreement with the label.
