  • KEMI OLAITAN, WOLE ONI, OTHERS SET FOR ‘WE EXALT THEE SEASON 1’

    COME June 12, 2016, multi-talented gospel artiste, Kemi Olaitan and The Sweet Echoes Band will lead other prominent gospel artistes to treat connoisseurs of gospel to the best.

    The maiden edition of the event tagged We Exalt Thee season 1, is scheduled to take place at Redeemed Christian Church of God, Emmanuel Mega, 17/19, Ayanwale Street, off T’Oluwani B/Stop, Ijegun Road, Ikotun-Lagos.

    According to Olaitan, “We Exalt Thee will be a groundbreaking and epoch-making event to worship our Lord, Jesus Christ. We have top gospel artistes that will lead the massive attendants in spiritual song, worship and prayers.

    “It will be an event of wonders and praise, as we have top gospel acts billed to perform. They include, Wole Oni, Dbass, Femi Okunu, Vivien Stephen and other ministers. The event will kick off with a red carpet by 2pm while the show proper will start by 3pm prompt.”

    Olaitan studied Hospitality Management at Lagos State Polytechnic stormed the gospel scene in 2012 with her debut album entitled,Shamona Mi produced by Daniel Adegbenro and Jay-Chords.

    Since hitting the limelight, the Ondo State born singer has attracted a lot of fans, especially through her chart-topping single, Gbotemiproduced by Wole Oni, the video which was shot by Ifocus. She has ministered in many churches and conference.

    Popular Nigerian jazz musician, Teemac Omatshola Iseli and Wole Oni are among artistes to perform at the Lagos Allstars Parade on Friday, January 1, 2016. The event which holds at the Prince of Anthony Hotel, Anthony Village, Lagos, is an initiative of the Culture Cafe.

    Tee Mac, whose recent album is Ready For Me, will thrill guests to a jazz session. Also, award-winning pianist Wole Oni who debuted with a single, Cover Me Lord, after over 30 years, is expected to join other stars in serenading music lovers.

    RENOWNED gospel music producer, Wole Oni, had cause to glorify God recently as he was conferred with both Lifetime Crystal Award and appointed UN Youth Ambassador for Peace. Consequently, he brought friends, fans and family together on Friday, July 25, to celebrate with him. “I’m excited today and grateful to God for His numerous blessings upon my life. Words cannot express my joy. We are here to celebrate my latest additions, my UN Youth Peace ambassadorship and my Crystal Lifetime Achievement Award, which I won penultimate Sunday. “I am most excited about the UN Youth Peace Ambassadorship because I have been looking for such a platform to preach the gospel of peace. Before now, I have been involved in peace initiatives at the grassroots, but this is a whole new ball game,” he said. On how he intends to use his UN platform to promote peace, Oni said: “Music is a powerful tool and without peace, there cannot be any development; so, we need to sensitise people and let them know that they can be what they want to be.With peace, you can change the world. We need to create songs that can change people’s attitudes. It’s all about those extra-ordinary things that ordinary people do,” he said. With a career spanning over 20 years, Oni has won numerous awards. Some of his hits include Igwe by Midnight Crew, Ko Si Oba Bi Re by Folake Umosen and Onyeka Onwenu’s Goodluck Jonathan Peace Initiative song, among others.

    MANAGING Director of Shuga Entertainment and the lead singer of Shuga Band, Akin Tofowomo, has said that all is set to release into the market a compilation of Christmas lyrics customised with the Shuga touch in an African way.

    Titled African Christmas Medley, Tofowomo explained that it is a combination of a fine blend of eight tracks, produced by Wole Oni and Akin Shuga as the Executive Producer. Among the tracks are Angels from the Realm of Glory, Joy to the World, Onye Nzoputa, Oba ni Jesu.

    Speaking on the album, Akin said; “What is behind African Christmas Medley is the nostalgia that comes with Christmas. It is nostalgic for me thinking about all the Christmases I have had. The medley is an African way of celebrating Christmas that has a global appeal with our contemporary music. The album is kick starting a new phase in Shuga Entertainment, and this is the beginning of a new era, as singles and full albums of the band will continue to be released. The 8 tracks are Christmas medley like you have never heard before.”
