The importance of nutritional meals to wellness and human survival cannot be over-emphasised. In the same vein, it is important to embrace standard dietetic rules and human nutrition through adequate food security guide and wellness, as these ultimately enhance good health, safe environment, social security and economic security and growth.
These were the major submissions midweek, as Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN Lagos State Chapter) unveiled the Food Security & Sports Diplomacy programme in commemoration of the United Nations World Nutrition Month at the Rahman Bello Lecture Theatre, University of Lagos.

The event, held at the Rahman Bello Lecture Theatre, had the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, CG B. A. Adeniyi (represented), the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen Musa Christopher Gwabin (represented by, Air Vice Marshal Bashir Rimi Mamman , Commandant Armed Forces Resettlement Center Oshodi) and the AIG Adegoke Fayoade (represented by ASP. O. Okunade), General Overseer of Mountain of Fire Worldwide, Pastor (Dr.) Daniel Olukoya (represented by the Vice Chancellor Mountain Top University, Prof Ayolabi Elijah; the Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba (Prof) Saka Adelola Matemilola and his Olori Adijat and Board Member Lagos State Security Trust Fund, Dr Ayo Ogunsan (represented) and National president Sports Writers association of Nigeria SWAN, Isaiah Benjamin amongst others.
In his address, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Gwabin said: “By leveraging excellence in sports journalism, you have amplified critical conversation around food security, youth health and community wellness, all of which are essential pillars for a stronger and healthier Nigeria.”
He expressed the Nigerian Armed Forces commitment to securing the country, collaborating with other sister security agencies, using both kinetic and non-kinetic in nature.
The Olowu of Owu, Oba Matemilola emphasized the importance of security and food production when he said “No security officer or police will be able to fire any weapon if they are not well fed”, even as he said, “wherever there is no security, people will not be able to go to farms.”
