    Wunmi Obe, The Jide Taiwo, Olumide Iyanda to join 3rd edition of WOMA-R

    Preparations have intensified for the Roundtable segment of the third Wale Olomu Memorial Awards and Roundtable (WOMA-R).

    The third edition is scheduled for Saturday, December 13, 2025 with the theme, “Unsung Legends Who Shaped Today’s Glory.”

    The third edition, according to the organisers, brings together some of the country’s most insightful voices to examine the evolution, influence and responsibilities of entertainment journalism within Nigeria’s creative economy.

    The 2025 Roundtable will feature a distinguished panel drawn from music, media, digital culture and contemporary creative practice.

    Confirmed participants include Wunmi Obe, multi-award- winning singer, songwriter and bandleader, who also serves as Executive Director, Business Development and Innovation at Punch Nigeria Limited; Olumide Iyanda, former entertainment writer at The Punch, former Editor of Saturday Independent, Publisher of QEDng and Deputy President of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers; The Jide Taiwo, writer, media executive, cultural strategist and author of K1 De Ultimate: A Legacy Secured, History Made and other works; Aralola Olamuyiwa, the notable lady talking drummer and versatile performer; broadcaster Jimi Akinniyi, popularly known as Jimi the Baldheaded Guy, a digital content executive at ScreenNolly and ex-TV producer at TVC News; and Deborah Lawal (aka Kayefi Osha) – UK-based Afro-soul singer, songwriter and storyteller.

    The Roundtable will air live on TopRadio 90.9 FM, and will set the stage for the awards ceremony on Saturday, December 20, 2025 where three Lifetime Achievement honourees and at least five Special Recognition award recipients will be celebrated for their contributions to Nigerian entertainment.

    Organisers further revealed that the full list of Special Recognition awardees will be released early on December 20, 2025.

    Chairman of the Steering Committee and veteran broadcaster, Tokunbo Ojekunle noted that the seven-member body is working with renewed vigour to deliver a deeply reflective and inspiring edition that honours the legacy of the late Adéwálé Olomu, whose pioneering work in entertainment journalism remains a touchstone for the industry.

  • Sanwo-Olu’s wife encourages retired healthcare personnel to form group

    Wife of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Lagos State, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, has encouraged retirees in the healthcare profession to form groups for stronger partnership with the government to improve healthcare delivery.

    Mrs. Sanwo-Olu, who is a medical practitioner, noted that improved healthcare would be one of the major programmes her husband would implement if elected.

    She said: “We are encouraging retirees with decades of experience in healthcare management to form a group to enable the government tap from their wealth of experience.”

    She spoke while receiving various women support groups at the Babajide Sanwo-Olu Campaign Office in Ikoyi.

    Mrs. Sanwo-Olu, who was joined by the wife of her husband’s running mate, Mrs. Oluremi Hamzat, appreciated the women for engaging in door-to-door campaign on behalf of their husbands, while re-assuring them that the support would be reciprocated with good governance.

    She said: “Poverty at the grassroots is one of the things Sanwo-Olu is coming to tackle. The one that concerns women the most is the issue of healthcare.

    “While the healthcare delivery has improved, there are still challenges to be addressed.

    Mrs. Sanwo-Olu revealed her husband always became emotional for the “overwhelming support” he enjoyed from various groups across the divides, saying the support would not be taken for granted.

    Association of Female Entertainment Practitioners of Nigeria, led by Mrs. Wunmi Obe, said Sanwo-Olu’s zeal to address challenges facing the entertainment industry led to his endorsement by the group.

    Supervisors of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) said they were convinced Sanwo-Olu’s programmes were designed to tackle poverty at the grassroots.

    A WAPA supervisor, Mrs. Pat Tekoboh, said the group was ready to mobilise voters for the election of the APC candidate at the polls. She, however, urged Sanwo-Olu to appoint women in key areas if elected.

    Other groups that visited the campaign office included Retired Nurse Administrators Healthcare Initiative, Body of Female Councillors, Women Wing of Christian Association of Nigeria (WOWICAN), Lagos State Hospitals Management Board Senior Staff Cooperative Multipurpose Society Ltd (LASCOMED), Network Men and Women Group, Sanwo-Olu Babes in Surulere, and Body of Female Councillors.

    Singing couple, Tunde and Wunmi Obe who won the Best Contemporary Afro Video for their song ‘Bianu’ at the just concluded Nigeria Music Video Awards (NMVA) have just concluded the video shoot for ‘Rise-Up’, a reggae-flavoured song off their ‘T.W.O. Plus’ album.

    Directed by the renowned cinematographer, Clarence Peters, ‘Rise-Up’ is an unusual style of music from the couple which they claim is for the enjoyment of all reggae fans in the world.

    According to the duo, “The song, ‘Rise-Up’ is for all reggae lovers out there. Though we are not reggae artistes, we decided to do something different for our fans and to celebrate all the great reggae musicians we have lost and those alive. You all are going to love the video and get lost in the feel of the music. The video will be dropping very soon.”

    ‘T.W.O. Plus’ is a 15-track album with singles such as ‘Green White Green’ ft. 2face Idibia, ‘Omonsa’, ‘Bianu’ ft. Floss, Rise Up, Ire ft. Brace, Ayanmo ft. 9ice and ‘Wedding Day’, whose video has won the NMVA 2014 award for Best Use of Costume. The album features production from elite Nigerian music producers such as Del B, Samklef, Papi J and B. Jay Productions.

    The couple, who are Nigeria’s most notable husband and wife act, first achieved recognition and public acclaim in the 90s and over the past two decades. Their creative collaborations have spawned successful albums such as ‘T.W.O 4 Real,’ ‘T.W.O. Legit’, as well as popular anthems such as 2005 releases like ‘Mogbomoya’ and ‘Adupe’.

The celebrity couple, played host to superstars Femi Kuti, Kate Henshaw, Funke Akindele, Dare Art Alade and DJ Jimmy Jatt at an exclusive event for their entertainment industry colleagues at their home.

    The celebrities gathered to celebrate with the couple on the launch of their latest album, T.W.O PLUS.

    T.W.O set to drop new singles

    HAVING taken a two-year break from the music industry, Tunde and Wunmi Obe, popularly known as T.W.O, are set to drop two new singles, Green White Green and Wedding Day, on June 1.

    The single, ‘Green White Green’ features pop icon 2Face Idibia.

    According to them, they decided to lend their voices to the gospel of peace, safety and oneness, in view of the prevailing socio-economic situations in the country.

    “Both singles are to be released on June 1. We hope to excite existing T.W.O fans and attract new ones with the type of songs T.W.O is known for,” Wunmi stated.

    The couple started as lead singers in a campus band, Turning point, in the 1980s. They, however, became popular with their weekly television segment, Zoom Time, on the Charly Boy Show, before finally giving full attention to their musical career.

    In over 25 years of their career, they have released five albums and numerous singles, including Fine Bara, Adupe, Mogbomoya, Zombie and many more.
