The Yoruba World Congress Worldwide (YWC) has urged the federal government of Nigeria, along with the governments of Kwara and Kogi States, to take immediate steps to safeguard the lives and property of residents in the two states.
The group also called on security agencies to identify and apprehend those responsible for disrupting the peace, particularly in the Kwara South Senatorial District and Kogi West Senatorial District.
Recent reports indicate that armed individuals have been terrorizing the people of Kwara South and the Okun communities in Kogi State.
A viral video has surfaced, in which residents of these areas raised alarms about the deteriorating security situation.
YWC, in a statement issued by its Vice President, Adekunle Ogundana, and Secretary General, Stephen Ajayi, urged the authorities to act swiftly to protect the affected communities.
Ajayi specifically highlighted the security concerns in Kwara South and Kogi West.
The group said that the people of the areas should be protected from the marauding killer herdsmen, bandits and terrorist. He called for the need to ensure the safety of the entire region.
It added that residents are fleeing their homes and farms which would have adverse effect on the food supply chain, the effect on the entire country cannot be overemphasised.

The statement reads “Yorùbá World Congress Worldwide (YWC) is using this medium to call on Federal Government of Nigeria (FGN), Kwara and Kogi State governments to ensure the protection of lives and property of the people of the state.
“We are calling on security agencies to fish out unscrupulous elements who are disturbing the peace of the people of the states especially those in the Kwara south Senatorial District and Kogi West.
“The Federal government and all the arms of government should be more proactive in securing lives and properties rather than being reactive, it is not right to wait for the head to be cut off before shouting.
“We hereby call for the deployment of all necessary security apparatus and personnel in the entire area in order to prevent further damage to the psych of inhabitants of the affected communities”.
