    Respect my years of hard work, Young Jonn slams critics

    Singer Young Jonn has urged critics to stop undermining his talent and hard work, emphasising that it took him years to reach his current level of success.

    In a recent social media post, Young Jonn expressed his frustration with critics who have accused him of being “monotonous.”

    “If you’re not a fan of my work, leave it at that! Don’t come here and water down my years of hard work!” he wrote on X.

    The singer, who began his career as a producer in 2010, gained prominence through his affiliation with Olamide’s YBNL family.

    He switched to singing after signing a recording deal with Chocolate City in 2022, releasing the hit single “Dada”, which was further boosted by a remix with Davido.

    Young Jonn also thanked his loyal fans for their support, saying, “Love to the true fans that truly appreciate my work, thanks for all the support – some people are just stupid and e no go still better for their family!”

    Young Jonn postpones album release over insecurity

    Afrobeats artist Young Jonn has postponed his highly anticipated album “Blue Disco” due to the worsening insecurity across the country.

    The decision comes as a response to the prevailing atmosphere of fear, grief, and uncertainty that has gripped the nation.

    In his statement on X, Young Jonn expressed deep disappointment and concerns over the ongoing challenges facing Nigeria, citing the unbearable nature of the insecurity and the need for collective action from both leaders and citizens to address these issues.

    He wrote: “It’s disheartening that Nigeria is still confronted with such overwhelming challenges; the insecurity has become unbearable, and it’s very clear that the leaders and we citizens must rise to do better, even as we pray for God’s strength to guide and sustain us through these difficult times. In light of these, I’ve decided to postpone the release of my album BLUE DISCO to a later date”.

    The album, which was slated for release on November 21, 2025, features collaborations with several prominent artists, including Wizkid, Rema, Asake, and Olamide.

    While a new release date for “Blue Disco” has not been confirmed, Young Jonn concluded with a prayer for healing and peace across Nigeria.

    “Above all, I’m praying for healing across our nation that God restores peace, unity, and hope to Nigeria”, he added.

    Afrobeats singer Young Jonn has revealed that he is not prepared for a serious relationship at the moment.

    Speaking on The Way Up podcast with Angela Yee, the artist explained that he prefers to maintain platonic friendships rather than commit romantically.

    He admitted that he isn’t in the right space to devote himself fully to one person and doesn’t want to place anyone in a relationship where he cannot meet their expectations.

    He said, “Everybody loves love. I mean, love is wonderful. But, I’m not really in that space where I can give so much of myself to one person. So, I’m just keeping it platonic with everybody,” he expressed.

    “I don’t want a serious relationship right now. Because I feel like I won’t be able to give that person as much as I’m supposed to. So why put them in that situation?”

    Music producer and artist Young Jonn has revealed that superstar singer Davido’s lavish lifestyle often makes him feel broke, despite his success in the music industry.

    In a recent interview, Young Jonn was asked if anyone had ever made him feel financially inadequate. Without hesitation, he responded, “Too many times, bro. Davido.”

    Interestingly, Davido himself has expressed similar sentiments in the past, admitting that he feels broke when compared to his billionaire father, Adedeji Adeleke.

    Teni, Young Jonn thrill as Lagos Shopping Festival ends

    The inaugural edition of the Lagos Shopping Festival ended on a high note on Thursday, December 26, 2024, with incredible musical performances by some of Nigeria’s A-list artistes including Young Jonn, Teni The Entertainer, and the multi-talented entertainer, EmmaOMG.

    Hordes of shoppers and fun seekers thronged the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan, Lagos to experience a shopping and partying fiesta that exploded beyond their expectations. They braved the chilly weather, sang, and danced along to the performances of those star acts, leaving memories etched on their minds and hearts. 

    The Festival turned out to be one of the biggest events in Lagos this December.

    It was powered by the Lagos State Government in collaboration with Chain Reactions Africa.

    The organizers pulled off three consecutive nights of concerts with performances from the likes of Adekunle Gold, Wande Coal, BNXN, Ayo Maff, and other A-list artists who lit up the stage, delivering electrifying performances that thrilled attendees. The festival was rounded off with classic performances by Young Jonn, Teni, and Emma Oh Ma God with DJ Neptune, D’Incredible DJ, DJ Dips, and DJ YK Mule wrapping up on decks.

    While the crowd enjoyed the music and shopping from various vendors in waves, the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has lauded the staff and management of Chain Reactions Africa for creating an amazing first-of-its-kind unforgettable blend of entertainment and commerce.

    The Governor was full of praise and commended them for reigniting the culture of strategic scaling and optimization of small businesses. The Festival is the first that brings and connects shoppers with Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs), providing opportunities, value-driven collaborations, and growth with innovators, entertainers, and the creative industry, as well as the food industry and everybody appreciably discounted deals.

    Sanwo-Olu pointed out that the fact that the 72-hour non-stop event was concluded without any hitch or medical emergency was a testament to their excellent organisational skills and event management.

    He emphasised that the Festival has demonstrated its ability to drive collaboration and business connectivity while advancing the collective aspiration for a thriving, inclusive, and resilient Lagos, which stands as Nigeria’s commercial hub and a model for other states.

    In a statement, Young Jonn attributed this neglect to his humble beginnings as a producer, rather than a singer.

    With a successful career as an in-house producer for YBNL Nation, where he produced hits for artists like Lil Kesh and Olamide, Young Jonn has made a lasting impact on the Nigerian music scene. 

    His transition to a singing career under Chocolate City has also been marked by several hit songs, including “Dada,” “Xtra Cool,” and “Big Big Things.”

    Young Jonn, the singer, revealed that his transition from producer to artist was unexpected.

    In an interview with Revolt, he said he never planned to be an artist, but life had other plans.

    “I never really planned to be an artist, but life played out,” he said.

    Young Jonn described his journey as a learning experience, stating that being an artist is a different ball game, hustle, grind, and business.

    “It was a learning process. It’s a whole different ball game. It’s a whole different hustle, grind and business. It took me time, but I think I’m getting hold of it”, he said.

    He admitted that it took time, but he’s getting the hang of it, adding that he drew inspiration from notable artists like Olamide, Kizz Daniel, and Lil Kesh while finding his footing.

    He worked with Olamide’s YBNL Nation early in his career, producing multiple songs for Lil Kesh, Olamide, and other label artists.

    Young Jonn’s unexpected transition has led to exciting projects, including his debut album “Jiggy Forever” and his first headlining tour, “Jiggy Forever Tour.”

    Singer Young Jonn has opened up about his challenges while transitioning from a producer to a performing artist.

    In an interview with Isi Ijewere on Backstage Banter, he revealed that self-conviction was the hardest part, as he had to convince himself that he could succeed as an artist.

    Young Jonn also discussed his emotional side, sharing that the last time he cried was when he lost his mother.

    He acknowledged that people often deceive themselves to feel better, and when asked about his biggest turn-off, he stated that he dislikes people who are not true to themselves, emphasizing the importance of authenticity.

    “The hardest part was self-conviction, actually convincing myself that I could do it. That was the hardest part, where I was on stage asking myself if I wanted to do this or not. It was really hard for me to convince myself that I got this.”

    Next, Isi asked the singer, “When was the last time you cried?” to which he responded, “The last time I cried was when I lost my mum. I don’t think I have cried since then.”

    She also asked, “Are you lying to yourself about anything?” and the singer acknowledged that people often lie to themselves.

    He said: “I think everyone lies to themselves about one thing or the other just to make themselves feel better. What is your biggest ick?” Isi asked.

    “I don’t like people who are not true to themselves. I detest them.”

    He added: “Let me not say ‘detest’ because it’s probably not that serious. I feel like when you are true to yourself, that’s when you can be true to anybody else but if you’re not true to yourself, you’re living a lie.”

    Afrobeats singer and producer, Young Jonn, recently opened up about his upbringing and personal life in an interview with Saige Jones.

    He revealed that his parents’ loving relationship instilled in him a strong belief in love, but he later encountered a starkly different reality in the outside world.

    “When I was really young, I believed in love so much because of what I used to see between my parents before I grew up and saw the world is a lot different than that”, he said.

    He revealed that his parents were pastors and he grew up in a Christian home, starting his music career as a drummer and keyboardist in the church.

    “I grew up in a religious home. Both my mum and dad were pastors. My mum had a school. She was a psychologist. So I grew up in a religious background. I started my music career as a church drummer and keyboardist,” he said.

    Young Jonn also spoke about the loss of his mother to cancer, which he said happened a while ago, and expressed that he has come to terms with the loss.

    “My family was a very closed one until everybody got busy with life. And life happened. My mum is late now. We lost her to cancer. It happened a while ago. I’m over it now”, he added.

    Afropop sensation, Young Jonn, has unveiled the schedule for his highly anticipated ‘Jiggy Forever’ tour set to kick off on September 6 in Montreal, Canada.

    The 10-day tour will see the Nigerian artist perform in major venues across the United States and Canada, including New York’s Warsaw, Philadelphia’s TLA, and Los Angeles’ Echoplex.

    The Jiggy Forever Tour comes on the heels of Young Jonn’s debut album release, also titled “Jiggy Forever”, which has been making waves in the music industry.
