Bimbo Ademoye celebrates victory in YouTube copyright dispute

Actress and filmmaker Bimbo Ademoye has expressed deep gratitude and relief after a prolonged copyright dispute over her YouTube film Where Love Lives was resolved in her favour.

In an Instagram post on Monday, Ademoye thanked her mother, friends, creative team, and especially her loyal online supporters, whom she fondly refers to as her “cyber family,” for their role in helping to take down the infringing content.

She wrote: “God don’t play about me, that’s how I know he’s real. I want to say a very big thank you to my mother @uduakisong1 for not resting till the issue was resolved. I love you forever mom. To @ugoccie and her team, thank you for standing by me and helping out. @sir.fela thank you for always helping to make sure things are resolved.

I’m kicking my feet in the air like a little child . It’s giving play with her and you’d incure the watch of her cyber family. I love you guys so much”.

The issue stemmed from an individual using a fake alias Emmanuel Davies, who falsely claimed copyright over a song featured in the film.

The track, fully owned by Ademoye with the artist’s approval, was allegedly uploaded to platforms like Spotify under Davies’ name as composer.

This led to a false copyright strike on her YouTube upload of Where Love Lives, a December 2025 release starring Uzor Arukwe, Chioma Nwosu, and Osas Ighodaro that amassed millions of views, resulting in demonetisation and diverted earnings.

Ademoye initially voiced her distress publicly, vowing legal action and demanding the claim’s immediate removal.

She described the ordeal as deeply upsetting, noting it left her in tears and unable to engage normally with supporters.

“Pls if you encountered me yesterday and I wasn’t smiling ,no vex abeg ,life and emmanuel Davies tried me. Anyways we’re still working on getting Emmanuel Davies( it’s a fake name by the way) Thank you sooooo much guys.

  • How to Build a Community on YouTube: 9 Steps

How to Build a Community on YouTube: 9 Steps

Building a community on YouTube transcends the mere numbers game of accumulating views and subscribers. It’s about understanding how to build a community, akin to nurturing a vibrant digital neighborhood. Here, each view is akin to a handshake and every subscriber becomes a new friend. This guide will lead you down the colorful avenues of creating a YouTube community, alive with interaction, rich in engagement and marked by loyalty at every click.

We’re embarking on a journey to turn casual viewers into passionate followers, and this article is your roadmap to reaching that thriving, heartwarming destination.

Let’s dive into the world of YouTube community building, where every strategy is a story and every viewer, a character in your channel’s unfolding narrative.

    1.      Understanding Your Audience

The first step of how to build a community is always to understand your audience.

Find Your Playground: Before you start building your community, it’s essential to find your niche. Think about what excites you the most. What unique aspects can you bring to YouTube? Discovering your niche is crucial – it’s the flavor that makes your channel unique and appealing.

Decode Your Viewers: Being in tune with your audience is like solving a mystery. Who are they? What are their interests? Delve into YouTube Analytics to uncover these answers. This data isn’t just numbers and charts; it represents the heartbeat of your audience. Understanding them is key to creating content that resonates.

    2.      Creating Engaging Content

Creating engaging and unique content is a part of how to build a community process. Here are tips on how you can create more fun, interesting and interactive posts.

Stick to the Script, Sort Of: Keeping a regular beat with your posts is like showing up on time for coffee with a friend – it builds trust. Mix in videos that are not just well-shot but also rich in content, and you’ve got a recipe for a loyal audience. They’ll return, eager for more, like bees to a blooming flower.

Make It a Two-Way Street: Throw in a Q&A, spark up a live stream, or toss out a poll like a frisbee in a park. These are your bridges to your viewers, turning monologues into dialogues. When you chat directly with your audience, you’re not just a face on the screen – you become a part of their world, and they, a part of yours.

    3.      Fostering Interaction and Engagement

Nudge your viewers to drop comments like they’re tossing pennies in a wishing well, sparking lively chats beneath each video. When you reply quickly, especially in those early hours after posting, it’s like you’re right there, turning small sparks into a warm, welcoming bonfire of interaction.

Talk to your audience as if you’re sharing a secret across a coffee table, making each video feel like a cozy, heart-to-heart chat. This turns the digital divide into a close-knit circle, where every upload feels less like a broadcast and more like catching up with an old friend.

And don’t forget that every video is a new page in your shared story. Celebrate milestones together, whether it’s hitting a subscriber count or marking an anniversary. These moments, big and small, aren’t just achievements; they’re shared memories, stitching you and your viewers closer together, creating a tapestry of shared experiences and mutual growth.

    4.      Building a Brand Identity

Craft a signature look for your channel that’s as recognizable as your favorite coffee mug. Let your thumbnails, banners, and intros be the familiar face that greets your viewers every time. This visual handshake makes your brand stick in their minds. As your brand grows and evolves, you might find yourself exploring various strategies to enhance your channel’s reach, like experimenting with different content types or even considering ways to purchase subscribers to boost your viewer base. Here is a recommended provider for YouTube subscribers.

Plus, you can flip the camera around and let your viewers in on your world – the ups, the downs, and everything in between. Sharing your story isn’t just about being open; it’s about building a bridge of trust. This trust can extend to every aspect of your channel, from the content you create to the ways you choose to expand your audience. When your audience sees the real you behind the lens, it’s not just content they’re connecting with; it’s a person, and that’s where true loyalty begins. Whether you’re organically growing your subscriber count or exploring options to buy YouTube subscribers, it’s the genuine connection that counts.

    5.      Utilizing Collaborations and Networking

Team up with fellow YouTubers who share your vibe– it’s like hosting a potluck where everyone brings their own flavor. These collaborations are more than just team efforts; they’re your golden ticket to meeting a whole new crowd, expanding your community beyond its usual borders.

Also, don’t just stay in your own backyard. Wander into the neighborhood of your niche, leaving your footprints in discussions, sprinkling your thoughts on others’ videos. This isn’t just about spreading your name; it’s about sewing seeds of connection in fertile ground. Every comment, every interaction plants a little piece of your channel out there in the wild, inviting new viewers to follow the trail back to your world.

    6.      Listening to Your Audience

If you are still in the process of learning how to build a community on YouTube, here is an important point; take care of your audience. Listen closely to the chorus of voices in your comments section; they’re the compass guiding your content’s journey. Each piece of feedback is like a puzzle piece, revealing what works and what doesn’t. It’s not just about nodding to their suggestions; it’s about letting their words shape your next move. This feedback isn’t just chatter; it’s golden advice, steering your content and engagement tactics towards uncharted, exciting territories.

    7.      Promoting Your Channel

Dive into the social media sea, and let platforms like Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook be your waves. Ride them to spread the word about your YouTube content. Share those candid behind-the-scenes glimpses, sneak peeks, and latest news. It’s like sending out digital postcards, inviting people from all over to join your YouTube journey.

    8.      The Power of SEO

When it comes to being seen on YouTube, think of SEO as your beacon. Light it up with the right keywords in your video titles, descriptions, and tags. It’s like leaving breadcrumbs for viewers to find their way to your content, boosting your spot in the endless ocean of search results.

And remember, SEO isn’t just a one-time thing; it’s an ongoing treasure hunt. Regularly update your keywords to match current trends and viewer searches. This continuous tweaking ensures your content doesn’t just float but sails smoothly towards your audience, riding the waves of YouTube’s ever-changing algorithm.

    9.      Leveraging Trends and Events

Stay alert, like a cat on the prowl, for the latest trends and happenings in your niche. Integrating these hot topics into your content not only casts a wider net to catch new viewers but is also a crucial part of learning how to build a community. This approach keeps your channel as fresh and lively as a new morning. It’s not just about keeping up; it’s about riding the wave of the now, bringing a buzz of excitement to both your regular audience and newcomers alike.

  • YouTube spotlights Burna Boy, celebrates Afrobeats

YOUTUBE, on Tuesday, launched its Spotlight Story documentary on Nigerian Afro-fusion singer and songwriter Burna Boy.

Famed for his 2012 single “Like to Party”, Burna Boy has become one of the leading musical voices on the African continent and an international YouTube sensation.

The 18-minute documentary, which can be viewed here, was launched at an exclusive watch party and tells the story of the rise of AfroBeats and the role YouTube has played, through Burna Boy’s eyes. Additionally, the video sees Burna Boy and his manager and mum, Bose Ogulu sharing some of his coming-of-age stories.

This is not the first time YouTube has built a story around Burna Boy. In October 2018, he got an ‘Artist on the Rise’ feature on the YouTube for Artists web page

The video streaming service has played a major role in supporting African musicians and artists in sharing their voice, art and culture with the world. Not only does YouTube’s global reach help break artists, and bring African music to the world, its audience makes fan content that helps amplify the reach of African voices. Additionally, YouTube’s technology allows music producers to be inspired and to collaborate like never before.

“Cultural movements grow and build on YouTube,” says Addy Awofisayo, YouTube Content Partnerships Manager, Sub Saharan Africa. “African music is the most recent example. For years now, YouTube has played an essential role in the discovery and development of African sound, exporting African music to listeners worldwide, enabling collaborations within the global and regional music industry, and accelerating the transition to digital for fans on the continent.”

A large share of YouTube views for top African artists come from outside the continent, with international artists such as Kanye West, Beyonce, and Childish Gambino integrating African elements into their music, choreography, and visual style.

“Ten years ago, African producers and artists had no easy way to hear, be inspired by, and influence sounds and artistry from around the world,” says Awofisayo. “YouTube technology changed that.”

“It will continue to do so too,” she adds. “With the launch of products such as YouTube Go in 2018, more African artists will be able to share their work with an increasingly large audience, fully cementing their place on the global map.”
