I don’t want to be involved in Nedu, ‘The Honest Bunch’ podcast drama – Yvonne Jegede

Actress Yvonne Jegede has addressed the ongoing drama involving The Honest Bunch Podcast and its lead host, Nedu.

Jegede who has been mentioned in the saga clarified that she has long moved on from her past unpleasant experience with the podcast.

She also denied claims that she paid for her interview feature, stating that she couldn’t have paid to appear on a show for a movie she neither produced nor owned.

Despite the negative experience, Jegede revealed that she has forgiven Nedu and the podcast and wishes them the best.

Jegede wrote: “In the past few days, my name has been mentioned in the ongoing saga involving The Honest Bunch Podcast, its lead host, Nedu, and other individuals. The drama especially on Facebook, where I have a sizeable following has been ridiculous, sometimes hilarious, but most importantly, it calls for deep introspection.

I would like to state clearly that I appreciate being left out of this entire situation, as I have long moved on from my past unpleasant experience with The Honest Bunch Podcast.

“The clips cut from my episode on that show for promotional purposes were designed to attract trolls, and my brand was subjected to all sorts of dragging. While this was happening, Nedu, who was in my WhatsApp messages asking me out, was simultaneously posting materials that further fueled the negative attacks on me. Even people flooded my son’s social media page cursing and swearing at him, I had to take his page down.

“The worst part was people claiming, based on a press release from The Honest Bunch Podcast, that I must have paid for my interview feature. That is totally untrue. I could not have paid to appear on a show for a movie I neither produced nor owned. The twisting of the narrative further made me dislike people who are dishonest or who try to paint yellow as black.

“At the time, I was livid, angry, and bitter. However, with time and the support of quality people around me, I chose to let go and sincerely, wholeheartedly forgave both Nedu and the show.

“I have received calls asking me to speak out or troll him now that he is supposedly down. My response remains the same, I will not. The best time to kick a man is certainly not when he is down. I have forgiven him and genuinely wish him nothing but the best. More importantly, I hope he learns from this experience and realizes that we gain nothing; not even YouTube views by bringing others down.

“Please, I kindly request that my name not be dragged into this drama. I have learned valuable lessons from my experience, especially regarding dealing with people, and that is the long and short of my submission”.

  • Five stars who transformed looks for movie roles

Five stars who transformed looks for movie roles

In the world of filmmaking, actors often undergo dramatic transformations to bring their characters to life. From drastic weight loss to bold hairstyle changes, these physical transformations showcase an actor’s dedication to their craft.

Here are five notable examples from Nollywood:

    1. Yvonne Jegede:

Yvonne Jegede’s recent bold move has made headlines. She shaved her head for her role in the upcoming film “Aja,” a love story that promises to provoke and inspire.

Jegede believes in giving everything to the role, even if it means stepping out of her comfort zone.

“I love my job too much not to take risks… I see myself as a tool to convey the appropriate message, if the script deserves it, I will do whatever needs to be done to give the story life. Apart from this drastic change, I am learning to speak proper Yoruba language

AJA is a love story… A provoking story that will have you on your feet,” she wrote in part.

    2. Okusaga Adeoluwa (Saga):

BBNaija Shine Ya Eyes housemate, Saga, took his acting career to the next level by cutting his beard and shaving his head for a role in the Anikulapo series.

He said the transformation wasn’t easy, but it helped him get into character.

“This is goodbye, my jaw looks deprived, and my face looks incomplete like it is loading. I had to cut my beard every day for two months to get here. It took a lot of getting used to seeing myself look 10 times younger. I spent a lot of time looking in front of the mirror, singing to myself and drawing myself to even remind myself how beautiful I looked. It was tough not gonna lie but it helped me get into character easier. I cut my hair, and shaved my head for a beautiful story.”

He added that when he was asked if he could cut his beard for the role, he didn’t hesitate as this was his biggest role yet since acting for barely a year

“Anyway, I was given the opportunity to play a character in the upcoming Anikulapo season 2 and I was asked if I could cut my beard, my reply was “say no more”. I have only been acting for a year and this has been my biggest role so far, nothing could stop me. I had to cut my beards every night because within 24 hours, I could already see traces of baby beards growing underneath and that was bad for the film. This wasn’t easy, mentally and physically because of the bumps on my face as a result of ingrown hairs. These are the sacrifices we make for cinema.” he said.

“I’m not gonna lie, deciding to add weight for a role in 2022 and lose it right after was a lot more challenging than I expected it to be. Took me wayyyy longer and wayyyy too much effort to get the weight off.

“I was too sure I’d lose the weight in 2 weeks, just before filming my next project at the time but yeah! My metabolism failed meeee I dragged the weight for over a year and across a few more projects Never again!!! I would have given tips but I kinda like the narrative of my yansh bursting, adds a lirru razzmatazz to my boring online personality,” she said.

She said: “Fifteen years ago, I took the bold step of going completely bald. I’ve always been known for daring choices with my hair, and maybe that’s because I’m blessed with great hair. #Aja AjaTheMovie demanded a transformation – not just for the money, but because of @lopeorire (the brilliant Writer/Producer) whose talent is unmatched. I’m not one for “champagne” roles that are all about looks; the riskier, the more I’m drawn in. I was on the phone with @officialsamokatunji1 (my manager) every day, telling him I HAD to be in this film because the story captivated me.

“When this movie drops on streaming platforms, expect to see me front and center! I’m immensely proud of this project – NOTHING like what’s out there. This film will spark debates, and that’s exactly why I poured everything into this role.

“Thank you for all the support, and I know you’re going to love #Aja. This project is my baby – forget that Titi Orire owns it; it’s MINE.

“Yvonne Jegede is every director’s dream and every producer’s delight – no stress on set, and all in for promotion”.

“WHY I CUT MY HAIR: MY BOLD TRANSFORMATION “

“I have always believed that to tell a story authentically, you must be willing to give everything to the role—even if it means stepping out of your comfort zone. This belief is what guided my decision to cut my hair for my ongoing movie, “AJA.” It wasn’t an easy decision, but for me, it was necessary to fully embody the character I’ve been entrusted to bring to life.

“AJA” is a powerful film, produced by the incredibly talented Titi Orire, and it tells a story that demands depth and transformation. We’re currently filming in Badagry, Nigeria, a location that adds to the richness and authenticity of the story. The movie features some of Nollywood’s finest talents, including Rotimi Fakunle, Bianca Ugowanne, and Gbohunmi David, and there’s a special appearance from a big name in the industry that I know will excite audiences.

“For this role, I knew I had to go beyond just the dialogue and emotions; I needed to make a physical transformation that would connect me even deeper with the character. Cutting my hair wasn’t just about changing my appearance, it was about shedding my comfort and embracing a new side of myself for the sake of the story. I’ve always believed that as an actor, you have to be ready to push boundaries, and this role is doing that for me.

“This decision also reflects my dedication to my craft. I take acting seriously, and I believe in fully immersing myself in every role I take on. “AJA” is a unique project that will challenge me, and I’m ready to give it everything I have. It’s not just about looking the part, but becoming the character from the inside out.

“I’m incredibly excited about what we’re creating with “AJA,” and I can’t wait for you all to experience this film. It’s a story that I believe will resonate with audiences, and I’m honored to be part of such a talented team. Thank you for your continued support as I take on this new chapter in my career”.

Yvonne Jegede was not pressured to make statement online, says Nedu’s management

Media personality Nedu has fired back at Yvonne Jegede’s recent outburst.

In a statement released by his management team, Tokindrumz, Nedu’s camp clarified that Yvonne Jegede was not coerced into making any statement on the Honest Bunch podcast and is fully responsible for her own words.

The statement also revealed that Jegede’s appearance on the show was a paid gig, part of her publicity drive for her upcoming movie.

Nedu’s team warned Jegede to cease her defamatory attacks and vitriolic rhetoric, emphasising that she should own up to her statements instead of apologising and playing the victim.

The statement reads: “It has come to our attention that a recent guest on The Honest Bunch podcast, Yvonne Jegede, has resorted to publishing insulting and defamatory material on social media, following what appears to be a public outcry against personal thoughts and positions shared by said guest on the show.

“We would like to make it clear that Yvonne Jegede was not pressured to make any statements on the podcast, and that neither Nedu nor the producers of The Honest Bunch, nor Glitch Africa Studio, takes any responsibility for personal thoughts and positions shared by Yvonne Jegede. Whatever fallout resulting from her appearance on the show is entirely her dilemma.

“We would also like to state clearly that Yvonne Jegede appeared on The Honest Bunch as part of her publicity drive for her upcoming movie. While this was a paid appearance, it does not in any way afford Yvonne Jegede the right to defame or slander Nedu or the producers of The Honest Bunch.

“We strongly advise Yvonne Jegede in good faith to desist from further aggravation, personal attacks, name-calling, and vituperation.”

Yvonne Jegede blasts Nedu over comment on her apology to May Edochie

Actress Yvonne Jegede has responded to Nedu’s criticism of her apology to May Edochie.

Nedu, a host on the podcast “Honest Bunch,” had implied on social media that Jegede lacked the courage to stand by her original words.

Jegede labelled Nedu as toxic and narcissistic, accusing him of taking pleasure in women attacking each other.

She emphasised that her apology was sincere and aimed at those hurt by her comments, including May Edochie.

Jegede also accused Nedu of promoting content that undermines women’s self-esteem on his podcast and of failing to understand the importance of apologizing when others feel hurt.

She further noted that Nedu had previously contacted her on WhatsApp, expressing admiration for her, but now joins the “mob” to profit from her apology.

She wrote on Instagram: “I woke up to see Nedu’s post reacting to my appearance on the podcast, particularly my apology to May Edochie and women in general.

“I understand Nedu’s difficulty in comprehending my apology. Narcissistic and toxic men like him cannot grasp the importance of apologizing when others feel hurt by your actions, regardless of whether you believe you are right or wrong.

“Small-minded people like you rejoice when women attack each other or are trampled upon. Check the history of your podcast; it is filled with content targeting women’s self-esteem. Perhaps the rumor about you is true—you don’t like women! Nedu, there’s nothing wrong with women winning and shining; it doesn’t diminish you or any other man.

“You are so evil that you didn’t even promote “A Father’s Love,” the movie I came to discuss on your show. Instead, you were all over my WhatsApp, telling me how much you like me, and now you join the mob and chase clout with your petty posts.

“I was raised to apologize if I was wrong and to those who felt hurt by my actions.

“If I didn’t own what I said with conviction, I wouldn’t come out to apologize when it was pointed out that some women and May felt offended. My apology was directed at those who clearly expressed their hurt.

“Take all the money you want from Facebook and YouTube, but prosperity always judges those who stand against women and profit at the expense of others.

“A small-minded man like you will never understand the need for an apology, even when he is wrong.

“By the way, you asked that I take you out. When I get back in town, we can still do it, but be prepared to man up, take responsibility, and pay your own bills. I always pay mine and never beg for anyone to take me out!”

Yvonne Jegede apologises to May Edochie, fans

Actress Yvonne Jegede has apologised to May Yul Edochie, the estranged wife of colleague, Yul Edochie, following her controversial podcast comments that sparked widespread outrage.

Jegede discussed her marital struggles and referenced those supporting polygamy, which was perceived as an insensitive towards May’s marital issues with Yul Edochie.

Jegede’s comments on the Honest Bunch podcast sparked a backlash with many criticising her for being insensitive to May’s plight.

In response, Jegede apologised on her official Instagram page to clarify her intentions and acknowledge May’s hardships.

In her apology statement, Jegede expressed deep regret for any misconstruction and reiterated her support for single mothers and those facing marital challenges.

Jegede’s apology reads: “I, Yvonne Jegede, would like to address the concerns and backlash that have arisen from my recent interview on the HONEST BUNCH podcast, where I discussed themes related to my latest film on Amazon Prime, “A FATHER’S LOVE.”

“Upon reflecting on the interview, I realize that my words were not articulated in a way that conveyed my true intentions and have been misconstrued as insensitive, particularly towards Mrs. May Edochie, a woman who has endured significant pain and hardship occasioned by estranged marriage. I deeply regret that my comments were perceived as adding to her distress. It was never my intention to cause any pain or disrespect. I am truly sorry.

“My intention in the interview was to highlight the important societal issues depicted in my film, which tells the story of a man raising four children who are not biologically his own. I was excited to address this societal issue through my film. However, in the process of discussing these themes, my words were misinterpreted. I spoke about my own failed marriage and the struggles of single mothers, aiming to shed light on these challenges.

“I want to clarify that my remarks about polygamy were meant to reflect its cultural context and to emphasize that how it is practised is crucial. My goal was to convey that polygamy is part of our culture, but what matters is how it is approached. Unfortunately, this message was lost in my articulation.

“I want to stress that my comments were not intended to trivialize the pain of Mrs. May Edochie or any woman going through similar struggles. I do not claim to have advanced knowledge of the personal circumstances between Yul Edochie and his ex-wife. I aimed to communicate that we all make wrong decisions and sometimes, those decisions happen in marriages, and we should do something about them instead of enduring perpetual pain. In doing something about it, some people separate, some divorce while some seek the help of professionals…

“I firmly believe that everyone deserves love, attention and care most especially women. I apologize if my statements did not effectively convey this sentiment. I am grateful for the opportunity to clarify my intentions and express my sincere apologies to anyone who was hurt by my words.

“Thank you for your understanding and support.”
