    I prefer Nigerian men to Ghanaian men – Yvonne Okoro

    Ghanaian-Nigerian actress, Yvonne Okoro, has revealed her preference for Nigerian men over their Ghanaian counterparts.

    Speaking on Showbiz 360, Okoro explained that her ideal partner is someone who combines romance and generosity.

    She emphasised that her preference is not driven solely by material wealth, but also by the importance of love, affection, and respect.

    “Nigerian men or Ghanaian men? Nigerian men are better. I didn’t say Nigerian men because of money. That’s not the only thing. Money is there but love, affection is very important. Because if they give me money and there’s no love and they’re very disrespectful, I wouldn’t want that. I want the whole package. That’s my kind of man. I want everything”, she said.

    Nigerian-Ghanaian actress Yvonne Okoro, has come out to quell a notion about dating women in the limelight.

    On Tuesday, the actress who said she has been single for more than two years, took to her Twitter account to counter a notion that men are scared of her because she is in the limelight.

    “I would say men are afraid to approach me, reason is there’s this misconception about women in the limelight:1woman=10men,this is a FALSEHOOD,” she wrote.

    The tweet elicited several responses from men who used the opportunity to ask her out.

    One of such fans was @lilmodulo, who tweeted at her, writing, “@yvonneokoro am not a superstar, just any ordinary man but will you accept my proposal. Don’t take in funny sense!” to which the actress responded, “So sweet but maybe next time.”

    Another fan, @NYboateng, wrote, “Bringing my application letter,” to which Yvonne responded, “Pls no I beg.”

    Continuing in another tweet, Yvonne wrote, “We are all not evil and we are all not surrounded by 100men at a time… It’s a really LONELY job we have and to trust som1 enuff to date#hard.”

    In a follow-up tweet, the actress who won Ghana Movie Awards Best Actress Award in 2010 advised men who might be scared of her.

    “So pls those men that are rattled by wat I said, dont be, it’s my experience, so please calm yourselves.”

    The actress has acted in movies such as ‘Ghana Must Go’,’ Like Cotton Twines’, ‘Contract’ and ‘4 Play’ among others.

    Yvonne Okoro’s latest work, Ghana Must Go, has won four awards at The Golden Movie Awards which held over the weekend at The Kempinski Hotel, Accra, Ghana.

    Ghana Must Go, a romantic comedy produced by award-winning Ghanaian/Nigerian actress, Yvonne Okoro won four awards including Best Actor (Kofi Adjorlolo), Best Actress (Yvonne Okoro); Best Supporting Actress (Doris Sackitey) and Best Comedy of the Year.

    The Golden Movie Awards, one of the annual award ceremony honouring outstanding achievements in African Television and Digital media, is administered by experts in Cinema and Television in Ghana.

    “The awards won by Ghana Must Go are dedicated to my fans in Ghana and Nigeria,” said a delighted Yvonne Okoro.

    “I appreciate all the other cast and crew members who made this dream a reality.”

    Ghana Must Go revolves around two young lovers of Nigerian and Ghanaian origin. Yvonne Okoro plays the role of Ama, a London-based Ghanaian woman who brings her Nigerian boyfriend, Chuks (Blossom Chukwujekwu), home, to meet her parents, much to the displeasure of her wealthy father. Ama’s parents refuse to give their blessing to their union, citing historical happenings between the neighbouring nations as reasons for their refusal. The series of events tests the love of the young couple in the most hilarious and unexpected fashion.

    Ghana Must Go was released earlier in 2016 and has already enjoyed Box Office success in Ghana. It is currently in Nigerian cinemas until August 2016.

    GHOLLYWOOD actress, Yvonne Chinyere Okoro, has denied speculations that she is getting married to a Nigerian businessman from Abia State. In the last quarter of 2014 and early 2015, rumours hit the blogosphere that the actress was set to marry a businessman from Nigeria which she denied, but media bloggers have insisted that the marriage plans are still ongoing.

    Speaking in a recent interview Thursday, the actress said she finds the news funny and that she has no idea how the rumour started. She said she has never informed anyone about who she is dating.

    When asked if she was indeed dating a Nigerian businessman, the actress was quick to say she was not going to discuss her private life with anyone because it is not for public consumption.

    She stated: “If my supposed boyfriend is somewhere listening, this will put enough pressure on him to come forward and propose marriage.”

    The Contract actress, however, said she used to feel sad when negative stories and rumours about her come up in the media circles, but that they don’t affect her like before.
