FirstBank Female Basketball Team have promised to come back better prepared as it got a consolatory second runner-up medal at this year’s Zenith/Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) Women’s Basketball League.
The Elephant Girls defeated Royal Aces of Abuja by 46-45 to emerge as the third best team in the final-8 of Zenith/NBBF League decided at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium in Lagos.
The Girls which also got trophy for winning all their matches in the Atlantic Conference fought back to win after trailing their opponent Royal Aces in the first three quarters of the round.

Demoralized by its earlier loss, it took the effort of the team’s captain, Theresa Joy Ebiega to rally its troupe back to winning ways.
Speaking shortly after the encounter, Ebiega said the Elephant Girls will go back to the drawing board to correct all lapses and mistakes made so as to come back better.
“We all as a team need to go back to work. We are going to do a lot of work, this is not what we wanted but it has happened”, she said, adding that “we have to work harder to reclaim our position. Hopefully we will be in the finals next year and get a continental ticket. That has always been our desire”.
Also speaking, the team’s manager Nneka Itabor, said the future of the Elephant Girls is bright.
