U.S. music promoter accuses Marlian music, Zinoleesky of contract breach

United States-based music promoter Wale Babalola has accused Marlian Music and Zinoleesky of contract breach,  and is seeking a refund of $45,000.

Babalola, the CEO of Fathia Promotion and Entertainment, in a series of messages, accused the management of Marlian Music of breaching a contract for a US tour involving one of the record label’s artists Zinoleesky.

According to Babalola, despite spending over $60,000 to procure travel documents, flights,  hotel accommodation and part-payment of performance fees for Zinoleesky and his team to embark on the tour, which was scheduled to take place in many American cities, the record label’s management failed to honour a duly-signed contractual agreement.

Babalola stated that he had made all the necessary arrangements for the show and had paid $45,000 to the Marlian Music management, and spent $21,000 on Zinoleesky’s ticket and visa.

He, however, said rather than honour their agreement or decline before the tour dates, Zinoleesky was spotted in Puerto Rico, thereby violating the terms of their contract.

Babalola further said attempts to contact Marlian Records to discuss the situation were futile.

He admitted that the whole scenario and request for refund had happened just after the passing away of MohBad, a former signee of the record label and management.

It was further stated that when the Marlian Records team finally reached out three days before the show, they proposed postponing it, which Babalola adamantly refused.

Instead, he demanded a refund of the money he paid.

Acknowledging the controversy surrounding Mohbad’s death and its impact on the record label’s image, Babalola insisted on the return of the $45,000 payment for the show, as well as the $6,000 for Zinoleesky’s ticket and $15,000 for his own expenses.

Reacting to the controversies during an Instagram live session on Monday night, ID Cabasa decried the alleged mistreatment that Naira Marley subjects his signees to within the confines of his record label.

The music producer alleged that the car and house Zinoleesky, one of Naira Marley’s signees had procured in recent years were bought under the label’s name, rather than in Zinoleesky’s personal name.

“I started hearing a lot of things coming from that label, that even some of the things that were bought for Zinoleesky, the house, the cars were not bought in the boy’s name.

“That’s wickedness from the highest order,” he said.
