The Taraba Government on Friday recalled four of the nine village heads suspended in February over alleged links with violence in their domain.
The state Deputy Governor, Alhaji Haruna Manu, made the disclosure in Jalingo during a meeting with stakeholders from Gassol and Bali local government areas of the state, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
Manu said government recalled the traditional rulers based on favourable security reports received about them.
The deputy governor named those recalled as the District Head of Taka, Alhaji Ali Adamu, his Tella and Sendirde counterparts, Alhaji Bello Chiroma and Alhaji Ali Tafida and the Ward Head of Sabon Dale, Alhaji Tanko Ishiaku.
Manu, however, said the suspension of heads of Takalafiya, Kungana, Maihula, Jibu and Bantaje villages would remain in place.
He directed the Permanent Secretary, Bureau for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Bello Yero, to issue the recalled chiefs with letters of reinstatement.
