Carlos Tevez has announced his retirement from football at the age of 38. The Argentine international enjoyed a glittering career to have spanned across five different countries, winning trophies in Argentina, Brazil, England, Italy and China.

One of the most shocking Premier League arrivals of all time when joining West Ham from Corinthians in 2006, Tevez would go on to win the Premier League title with both Manchester United and rivals Manchester City.

That move across Manchester was another hugely controversial moment, with City proudly unveiling a now-infamous “Welcome to Manchester” banner after his exit from Old Trafford.

Tevez, who won 76 caps at the international level, ended his career at boyhood club Boca Juniors and cited the death of his father as one of the main reasons he decided not to continue.

“I have retired, it’s confirmed,” he confirmed in a statement.
