The third edition of the Agricultural Award and Quiz Competition will hold at the Philomath University, Abuja, on November 26, 2022.
According to the CEO, Golden Crown Agric School, Ogun, State, Oladele Awoleri, who is the brain behind the programme, it is to recognise and celebrate farmers and agro allied companies who are behind the food chain in the country.
Coming at a critical time when farmlands are being washed away in different parts of the country, Awoleri, a graduate of Mass Communication, said it is imperative to celebrate farmers who go through thick and thin to feed the nation.
“This is coming at a time when farmers have lost millions of naira to flooding yet remained in business. Fish, rice, maize and cassava farmers have been worst hit with cows eating up hectares of farmland, yet remained in business. Our aim is to celebrate these farmers who are worthy heroes. We want farmers to smile and dance away their sorrow, and show that someone actually cares.”
Chief, among companies selected for award at the event, is Adron Homes & Properties Limited, which is nominated for the African Food Survival Ambassador (AFSA) award.
The first edition of the programme was held at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) in 2019, while the second edition was hosted by Abadina College, University of Ibadan in 2021.
