Three abducted, in Niger terrorist attack

Suspected terrorists yesterday abducted three people and injured two security personnel at Garin Gabbas community, Rafi local government area of Niger state.

The terrorists also burnt two vehicles during the attack said to have occurred early yesterday.

It was gathered that the terrorists who invaded Garin Gabbas community, opened fire to scare the people as they abducted three locals and rustled some cattle.

The attack was cut short when security operatives stationed at the Garin Gabas Primary School engaged the terrorists in a gun battle.

In the course of the gun battle, two of the security operatives were injured. The injured security personnel were receiving treatment at a public health facility.

Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has sympathised with the people of Kagara Emirate over the terrorist attack describing it as unfortunate.

He applauded the bravery of the security personnel who engaged the bandits assuring them of continuous support as his administration had prioritised the safety and well-being of the citizens of the state.

He prayed for the quick recovery of the two injured security operatives and the safe return of those who were abducted.
