Three held, arms recovered in Ogun

The police have arrested a three-man gang suspected for terrorising the Gateway Polytechnic, Saapade. The men has allegedly robbed the students and raped of some of the ladies.

The suspects – Taiwo Oredoyin (27), Taiwo Kuti (35) and Folorunsho Saheed (36) were arrested on Monday during a stop and search operation at Ipara and Ode-Remo. They were intercepted on a motorcycle.

Police Spokesperson Omolola Odutola, who confirmed their arrest in a statement yesterday, said a locally-fabricated pistol with two live cartridges, and two Samsung phones were found on them.

The statement reads: “Ogun State Police Command has made significant progress in apprehending suspected robbers and recovering firearm and ammunition from three armed men who invaded Ode-Remo and Ipara, raped female students, and continued terrorising the institution.

“The suspects denied at first, but a victim of their last robbery operation identified one of them. They are currently undergoing interrogation ahead of their transfer to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigations.
