President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the takeover and conversion of Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, Lafia, to the Federal University of Lafia Teaching Hospital, Nasarawa, in response to a request by the Nasarawa state government.
The development marks a significant boost to healthcare delivery in the state and will enhance the training of students in medical and allied sciences.
A statement issued on Wednesday, August 21, by the special adviser to the president on media and publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, said the conversion aligns with President Tinubu’s commitment to ensuring social welfare and healthcare security for Nigerians.
It further demonstrates that the administration remains dedicated to investing in the healthcare sector, driving improvements, and expanding access to quality medical services nationwide.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the takeover and conversion of Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, Lafia, to the Federal University of Lafia Teaching Hospital, Nasarawa, following a request by the Nasarawa State Government.

“The conversion of the health facility to a federal teaching hospital will not only enhance the training of students in medical and allied sciences but also boost healthcare delivery in the state.
“President Tinubu remains committed to ensuring the social welfare and healthcare security of Nigerians and will aggressively sustain his administration’s investment drive and efforts in the sector”, the statement said.
